  1. It is the Extended Stay Deluxe Seattle - Renton. This is most definitely the one hotel I was trying to avoid. Even the "lesser" Extended StayAmerica would have been highly preferable because it wouldn't have the emotional baggage attached to it. Hotwire replied to my complaint and said that they reviewed the rating for this hotel on June 12, 2008 and rate it as a 2.5*. This was my first time using HOTWIRE and I don't think I will use them again if rating inflation is that rampant. Their example properties are grossly misleading from what was actually booked.
  2. I mentioned this in a reply to another post just now, but I guess it deserves it's own topic for searching reasons. I saw a listing on Hotwire for a 2.5* in Renton at $43/night. It seemed too good to be true! That should have been my first clue. :) I was booking for my MIL and wanted to book ANY hotel other than the Extended Stay America because she stayed there last time and hated it. My bids for a 3* at Priceline were being rejected (last bid was $64/night), and both this board and the other bidding help board list the Extended Stay in Renton as a 2*. I thought it odd that this board didn't list a 2.5* in Renton at all, but several of the example brands that Hotwire lists as 2.5* are in the area so it was very plausible that it was a different hotel so I booked it. But, no, I managed to book the ONLY hotel that I was trying to avoid. I feel so defeated! Hotwire is lying when it says this hotel is 2.5*. It is a solid 2* and THAT'S IT! I'm already emailed them to complain, but I know that will accomplish nothing. Now I have to tell my hubby where his mother is going to be staying. *sigh* And deal with her staying there. *double sigh* Mods, please update your hotel list to show that Hotwire thinks this is a 2.5*. FYI, I used your HOTWIRE link to book it.
  3. I can confirm definitely that this is the Extended Stay America. I wanted to book ANY hotel but this one for my MIL because she has a bad history there. Every board I looked at listed this hotel as a 2* for both Hotwire and Priceline, plus the example brands they list as 2.5* are infinitely better than this dump, so I went ahead and confidently booked a 2.5*. Now I feel like crying!! The trip is for 6 nights too, so it's not like I can just eat the $300 so that she can stay at a different hotel. :) :) :o Details: Extended Stay Deluxe Renton
  4. My family is heading to Vancouver this weekend. Since we leave in 3 days, I didn't have time to try and try for the minimum bid possible. We needed an accepted bid, so I bid a little higher than some of the bids we've seen here. We also didn't care what part of town we stayed in since we don't really have goals other than to spend the weekend in BC. First I tried 4* in Vancouver for $80/night. I didn't expect to get it and, sure enough, it was rejected. Then I tried 3* in Vancouver and Vancouver airport for $70/night. Rejected. Next I added Vancouver North for $75/night. Rejected. Next I added Surrey for $80/night and was accepted. Sheraton Guildford Hotel Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: US$80.00 Subtotal: US$160.00 Taxes & Service Fees: US$34.64 Total Charges: US$194.64 The HOTWIRE rate for what I assume is the same hotel (3* in Surrey) is $251.84 total, so I saved $57 going through PRICELINE. I looked at the Sheraton website, and their cheapest room for that weekend came to 279.46 CAD, which XE.com converts to US$274.171. The cheapest price on Sidestep for that hotel was even higher. Of course, after I placed the bid, that's when I noticed the reward in my Priceline account to save $5/night. D'Oh! Oh well, I can use it on my mother-in-law's upcoming hotel stay.
  5. I started at a 4* in downtown and worked my way outward in area, downward in stars, and upward in price until I had no choice but to add 1* to the options. Since no 1*s were on the hotel list, I was hoping that would let me raise the price for free, but, no, a 1* was indeed selected. Dangit! Naturally I should have rethought that because I ended up paying more than the book rate! :) Oops. So I won't disclose what I paid out of embarrasment, but I wanted to open a topic on it anyway so that the hotel can be added to the list.
  6. First I bid $30 on a 2* at the airport for 7 nights. That was rejected. Then I bid $32 on a 2* at the airport for 8 nights (yes, I have flexibility on the number of nights). That was also rejected. Next I added Renton-Kent, still with $32 on a 2* for 8 nights. This was accepted. However, it's for a hotel that hasn't been listed here before.
