  1. The Hotwire 4.5 star hotel in Seattle Pike Place area was in fact the Hotel Monaco. Price had increased to $127, but I am still plesed to save about $50 over the other web prices. Thanks for all your help, and I will bookmark savingsbarn for future use! Barb
  2. Okay, to follow up, I bought the Quincy Market 4* hotel and it is the Millennium Boston. The website rate is $269 and Expedia is $229, so I think this is a good deal. Thanks very much for your help! Now if I can just get Seattle settled. . .
  3. I'm sure you are correct, but I have tried four times so far for Boston Downtown on priceline and failed at bids up to $125. In addition, I read some mixed reviews of the Boston Park Plaza, which I believe is in the Downtown/Boston Commons area, and mixed reviews for the Boston Colonade (Copley area) as well. So now I'm feeling uncertain about trying again with priceline even though Hotwire savings are not that great.
  4. See Seattle thread for update. As to the Boston question, that hotel is for a trip my husband and son are taking. (Can you tell I do all the family hotel bookings?) I am reluctant to use priceline, as it seems each Boston bidding area has at least one hotel that I would not want to get. Any help on the two hotels mentioned above would be much appreciated.
  5. The Seattle trip is with my sister. She is out of the country until tomorrow, so I haven't been able to confirm the hotel choice with her and thus I have not yet purchased. If she agrees, I will probably go with the $125 (likely) Hotel Monaco. I will report back once I have purchased, and I will use the sponsor link here.
  6. I'm looking for a Hotwire hotel for Boston from July 18-22. My husband really wants to be in the downtown Boston area or very close-by. Two hotels come up in the area: 1. Quincy Market $159; amenities include "best value" hotel with restaurant and fitness center. 2. Boston Common Theater District, 3.5* $179, customer favorite, hotel, restaurant, fitness center, high speed internet access, and business center. Any idea what these hotels might be? Thanks, Barb
  7. Thanks again for your help. I'll let you know how the purchase comes out. Barb
  8. That's right--the amenities don't match the $124 hotel. My question was whether the Alexis Hotel has been coming up recently on Hotwire.
  9. Thank you. I am looking for one night only on July 6. The Monaco looks like a good bet. I noticed that the Alexis hotel also comes up on Hotwire as a package deal hotel and it is a 4.5 star, too. Do you know if anyone has been getting that hotel on Hotwire?
  10. Sorry--I realized that after I posted. The $124 hotel shows "Hotel" and "Boutique," plus restaurant, fitness center and business center.
  11. I'm interested in a 4.5 star Downtown Pike Place hotel in Seattle in July. Based on this forum, the Hotwire choices seem to be limited to the Hotel Monaco and the Grand Hyatt. Hotwire currently lists a 4.5 star, DT Pike Place at $124. What are the chances it is the Monaco? Thanks for your help, and for this great website!
