  1. Hi there,

I am looking for May 9-12. Lower Manhattan/Chelsea areas. Preferably LES, Soho-Tribeca.

My budget is about $200-$225 inclusive (if possible).

Not finding much right now on Hotwire or PL. Wondering if I should wait it out?

(open to other areas, if the hotel seems right) - do not prefer Midtown/Theatre District.

    Thanks!

  2. Trying to figure out what hotel this is?

Notes 4* but 3.5 by TripAdvisor.

    Central Park South - $224 (CDN) -  $154US May 9-12

    Amenities

Boutique hotelBusiness centerFitness centerInternet accessPet friendlyRestaurant(s)Smoke-free rooms

Looking for something for that date - and prices have gone up!

  3. Well, I have a hold on a cancelable rate somewhere else. I didn't really want to go to $140. I thought I could save money. Is that normal, not to even give you a few $$ cheaper? I will wait till later tonight and decide. I was going to add Soho - as I doubt they would add something from there as the prices are quite high there. My only fear is they might give me a Trump hotel in that area (5*) since I think they are having issues selling rooms - not my kind of vacation.

  4. I had to deal with something so going to try today.

The ones I got that I would pick to re-bid are:

    Long Island

    Flushing

    Elmhurst

    Jamaica

    BK - Downtown

    BK  - East

    BK - South

    Queensborough Bridge

    Bayside

    Morningside Hgts

    Coney Island

    Bronx

    Washington Heights

    Kennedy Airport

    La Guardia

    (15)

I am assuming LES Sixty could be an option for the 4.5* but pricier than Indigo. (not on your list, but 4.5 on Priceline in their list prices as an FYI).

Thanks again for all your help!!

  5. The re-bid zones I have noted are:

    La Guardia

    Kennedy

    Washington Hgts.

    Bronx

    Morningside Hgts.

    Bayside

    Jamaica

    Flushing

    Elmhurst.

I put in the first bid at 4.5 LES. It's a no, I re-bid starting with each of these. Correct? Leaving the 4.5 star.

I was totally into this the last times I tried but want to make sure.

    Thanks so much!

  6. I haven't done this in a while. How are there are 15? Ones that don't have 4.5 and beyond include 10 areas.

    10 don't have any 4 or 5 stars.

So say I start at 4.5 with LES-Chinatown at $100. It's a no. Then I add one of the 10 areas that don't have 4.5 or above and exhaust those neighbourhoods. Where does 15 come from? Also how many shots do I get?

  7. I think we responded at the same time! I like LES. I usually stay in Soho area, but even though that week has lower prices, I want to spend less and like Lower Manhattan. Indigo would be new for me, but it seems to check off a lot of things and the price is good, but a bid would be better. Don't want to get stuck with something else though at a 4 star that could be a hilton or something.

I think if I chose 4* I might end up with Wyndham Garden - which I definitely don't want!  So not sure how to get around that one.

  8. Thanks. Under the hotel section, it appears Indigo is the only 41/2 star. I am looking Lower Manhattan.

I am good with Indigo given the price is good and I think it's the only 4 1/2 star so can be pretty confident that this will be the one.

I would start with just this zone. What do you think I should start my bid at?

Thanks so much for your help - yes, will definitely use your link.

  9. Hi there,

I am looking for Feb. 13-16 in Manhattan.

I might bid, but saw this 4 and half star in: Lower East Side - Chinatown with express.

I haven't done PRICELINE in a while, and it looks like they don't give much info as before. This is what it states:

    4.5-Star Express Deal Hotel

     Lower East Side - Chinatown

    What Hotel?

    Free InternetBed Choice Available

     Pets Allowed

     Business Center

     Restaurant

     Free Internet

     Indoor or Outdoor Pool

     Fitness Center

     No Smoking Rooms/Facilities

Is this Hotel Indigo Lower East Side New York? Do you think I can do better on bidding? It's $149US for express. Regular shows $189 (but I think you can get a deluxe King at this price too when it shows).

If I bid, should I wait a bit and what price do you think I should try for? It's been a while!

    Any help is appreciated.

  10. There was a 4* hotel with lower rates when i posted the strategy above, but it has since gone back up.

I don't understand... you originally were looking for a hotel room for 8/30-9/3, did you have alternate accommodations that were you waiting on for part of this stay that are now confirmed as not possible? Do you have possible alternate plans for 8/30-9/1 that you're waiting to confirm? It would seem to make more sense if you were originally only bidding 8/30-9/1 but now need 8/30-9/3 as your 9/1-9/3 plans fell thru, but as posted i'm not following the logic.

I AM ONLY LOOKING FOR SEPTEMBER 1 - SEPTEMBER 3 NOW - AS NOTED AND IN A DIFFERENT POST.
Are you willing to pay more to stay in this zone vs. any of the other FIVE zones you'd indicated that you are willing to accept?
NOT BY TOO MUCH. 170 TOPS FOR SOHO. IF THIS IS UNREASONABLE I AM OPEN TO OTHER ZONES IN MANHATTAN. MTE, ESB, CPS. WHAT ZONES COULD I GET FOR $160 OR UNDER? I AM HAPPEN TO GET A STRATEGY WITH JUST SOHO AND THEN THESE OTHER ZONES I HAVE ABOVE.

I'm not sure which dates you're referring to (or which zones you're now willing to bid... all FIVE as previously indicated or only Soho??

    SEE ABOVE

I don't think i do... it's the same bid amounts that are suggested in the previous four zones, only the CPS bids are placed after the first bidding cycle... this is actually because there is a very low chance of acceptance of a 4* hotel in this zone at the prices posted.

I DON'T UNDERSTAND - JUST WOULD LIKE HELP WITH $160 - $170 TOPS, STARTING WITH SOHO. THEN WILL TRY OTHER ZONES. 4* FOR NOW, WANT TO BE CLOSE TO SUBWAY.

    THANK YOU!!!

  11. Hi there,

I started a new post, since my plans have changed a bit while waiting for bidding advice.

I need a hotel in Manhattan during Sept 1 -3.

I most likely will already be staying in Soho, so would prefer to stay in the same area. That being said, if my budget is too low and another zone is more acceptable, I would take it.

$160 max - is this reasonable or too low for that weekend?

    Soho-Tribeca - 1st choice.

Would consider other zones if they are more "doable".

Please advise. I am aware of the 7 rebid zones for Soho. I tried last night ending at $160 and did not get it. Should I continue to try or do I need a new strategy?

Is Financial District more "doable" with my budget? Or CPS, ESB? Or none of these are realistic with my budget?

I understand a lot of hotels are booked up right now for the cheaper rooms - is there a lot of new rooms that become available one week in advance (people cancelling etc.).

    Thank you in advance!

  12. Sorry I didn't hear back from you so I have held a room for that time that is cancelable - but will try this strategy.

My September 1 - 3 has now fell through. That's what I most need.

I am hoping to be in the Soho area. I have noticed rates have gone up for the Saturday and Sunday - is this correct.

Would $160 max be ok with the 7 rebid zones for the this time period?

    Thanks.
