  1. Hotwire described the Warwick as a boutique hotel. That's not really a fitting description but it is a nice looking hotel in a great location.
  2. Pet friendly, Boutique hotel, Smoke-free rooms, Fitness center, Restaurant(s), Business center, Self-service laundry, Internet access, Golf nearby, Accessible for visually impaired, Accessible for hearing impaired, Accessible path of travel, In-room accessibility, Wheelchair accessible, Accessible bathroom, Accessible parking, Roll-in shower
  3. Wanted 3 rooms in Center City West or University City. I knew I could get a 4 star on HOTWIRE for $139 so I started at $95 and went up incrementally to $136. No luck so I took the Hotwire deal (Le Meridien).
  4. Started at $42 and got first bid accepted so clearly I should have started lower. I'm a little concerned that the hotel reviews are not very good.
  5. Just tried for a 4 star hotel in Boston with bids ranging from $140 - $195 and couldn't get anything. Added a variety of 4 star areas and other areas to allow rebids. Any suggestions? Copley $140 + Watertown $145 +Cambridge $150 +South Boston $155 +Saugus $160 +Quincy $165 +Newtown West $170 +Medford $175 +Jamaica Plain $180 +Dorchester $184 +Brookline $190 +Beacon Hill $195
  6. I won on Price.line 2 rooms at the 2.5* Fairfield in State College North back in July 2014 at $47 per night per room and a 3 star Springhill in State College North in October 2014 for the same price so I started this time at $42/night for 2.5* in State College South. Bid was rejected so I expanded to State College North and upped the bid to $47. Bid was accepted and I got the Fairfield again.
  7. I ended up booking the Radissin Plaza Warwick Hotel for $129 per night directly through the hotel. This was the pre-negotiated rate for the affair that I was attending.
  8. I won on Priceline 2 rooms at the 2.5* Fairfield in State College North back in July at $47 per night per room so based on that I started this time at $42/night for 2.5* in State College South. Bid was rejected so I expanded to State College North and upped the bid to $47. Bid was accepted and upgraded to 3 stars. Springhill gets excellent reviews on Trip Advisor.
  9. Thanks for the info. I tried once again: $94 / $100 / $107 / $114 / $120 / $127 / $134. Still nothing. It wasn't meant to be this time.
  10. Got the William Penn several years ago for $60 and was hoping for similar luck. It wasn't to be. Started at $77 and added in $5 to $7 increments all the way up to $133 but none of my bids were accepted. I'll try again at another time or go down a level.
  11. Tried for a 3 star hotel yesterday. Bid $47 in South. Rejected.Added North and went up to $53. Rejected.Added Lemont - Dale Summit and upped the bid to $57. Rejected.Added Clearfield and went to $63. Still not accepted. This morning, started with 2.5 star in North @ $47/night and bid was accepted. Reviews of the Fairfield seem very good and Kayak's best price was $99/night.
  12. I saw jsant's post about getting $117 at the Hyatt. (jsant, thanks!) I figured I'd start lower than that, bearing in mind that I had a far chance of getting something if I went up to that level. I looked in 5 areas for 4 star hotels. I don't recall which ones specifically, but they were all in and around the Cambridge / Charles River area. My initial bid was $100 which was rejected but they told me I could go to $118 without changing areas or hotel class. Instead of doing that, I took a chance and expanded to Fenway Park and bid $110. The bid was accepted. Thanks for the great site!
  13. Thanks. Tried again tonight between $70 and $80, but no luck. Will try again in a few days. I'll eventually go up if need be but I'll hold out a little longer.
  14. Tried for 4 star downtown starting at $55. Moved up in $5 increments adding neighborhoods that didn't have 4 star hotels. Rejected at $80. Will try again in a couple of days.
  15. First tried at $55, then added Greentree and tried again at $60 and got it.
  16. No problem. Hotwire says the hotel has the following: Fitness Center Guests have access to exercise equipment; an additional charge may apply. Restaurant(s) Property offers at least one restaurant on the premises; hours and days of operation may vary. High-speed Internet Access Guestrooms are equipped with high-speed Internet access; an extra charge may apply. You do pay for Internet in the room, but it's free in the lobby.
  17. My first time using Hotwire. I've used Priceline several times with Better Bidding's tips, but wanted to be sure to get a room to accommodate my whole family. Assumed I would get the Embassy Suites based on prior posts, but the Hyatt is very nice. The town is dead, though. Beautiful, but there's no one here.
  18. On Priceline. Just started at $55 and got the price. When we arrived at the Renaissance, they said they were very sorry but they were out of rooms and needed to move us to the Marriott. They're doing some renovating and 3 floors are out of commission but apparently they're national booking people aren't aware of that and are overselling the hotel at times. I was a little disappointed but didn't have a problem moving to the Marriott. However, they said they only had authority to move us for one night because they did have vacancies on the 2nd night. I told them that wasn't acceptable. While I'd prefer to have stayed both days in the Renaissance, I didn't want to go hotel hopping. After a lot of back and forth, they finally relented. Marriott is comfortable and the area is very nice.
  19. Sorry to post this after I already stayed there. But the hotel was very nice. Walking distance to CN Tower and right on the water. Traveling with my wife and 2 kids, so I was concerned about getting an appropriate room. Was able to get 2 queen/doubles which worked out.
  20. I started at $91 based on other winning bids that I've seen here. I was looking for 4 star in Dupont/Woodley. I kept bidding up in $5 increments, adding non-4 star areas of town. Around $105 I added Georgetown/Foggy Bottom as another real 4-star area. Got the Westin for $110; a little more than I had hoped but still very reasonable. I went to Westin's site to see what it would have cost direct. I was disappointed to find that they had a $129 Thursday-Sunday special throughout the summer, but then I was relieved to see that they were all out of those rooms and that the cheapest rate they had left was $199.
