I checked just before my bid at the PRICELINE EXPRESS deals and there was a 4* in TO Downtown South offered for $93. Right after I won my bid, that was gone! Guess I took the last one.
First bid: $88 for Downtown South
2nd bid: $91 added Downtown North *winning bid*
Also used the 5% off promo coupon.
Yes, with the promo code I went up to $89 and even tried splitting my stay in a one day and a 2 day stay but nothing yet. :( It should be feasible to get a 3.5* for $85 no? I have seen it many times before. Am I being unreasonable?
Thanks Romelle, no I didn't know about this deal. Yes, I too think more inventory will be added as time goes by.
No I have not tried any 4* yet but I doubt I can get them for under $85. I would like to keep my costs down as much as possible so I am still hoping the 3.5* under $85 will work out for me if I keep trying.
I don`t like the 3.5* hotels Priceline offers in Downtown TO South. But I don't mind any of the 4* in TO downtown North or South. I will keep trying and report on my successful bids. Thanks for your help.
Today I tied again for 3.5* Downtown TO North and not successful. Started at $73 and ended at $85 with 7 rebid. Don't want to go higher than this for a 3.5*.
I decided to start bidding for a 3.5* in TO Downtown North yesterday. I started at $$70 and rebid 7 times until $77 and I gave up at that point. It was for the whole stay (3 days Aug 20-24) Will try again tomorrow.
I am thinking between 85 to 100 for 4* and now considering 70 to 85 for 3.5* in Toronto Downtown North only. I tried the rebid from 70 to 77 going up $1 each rebid for 3.5* but nothing.
Hi,
I have used Priceline bidding before so I know who the re-bidding works. My question is do you think I would be getting better deals by breaking down my stay into smaller period? I don't mind changing hotels if it saves me money. For example, instead of bidding 4 nights for a Downtown TO South hotel, I would bid 2 separate bids of 2 nights for a Downtown TO South hotel.
Any idea if that could give me better rates? I assume that availability for longer periods may be reduced and hence cost more or that a hotel would not like to book off multiple nights at such a low price?
Thanks for your help. I am looking for Downtown TO 4* hotel for Aug 21-25.
1st bid: $78 for 3.5* Downtown TO North - unsuccessful
2nd bid: $79 for 3.5* added Downtown TO South - winning bid
Not crazy about the Delta Chelsea but I could not get any 4* for under $100 for those dates.
I used the PRICELINE link from this forum.
$51 for 3.5* in Toronto (Scarborough-Pickering)
$53 + rebid zone
$54 + rebid zone
$56 + rebid zone
$58 + rebid zone
$60 + rebid zone
$61 + rebid zone
$63 + rebid zone ** winning bid
I am happy with the price and the hotel I got. :)
Thanks.. I got the hotel I wanted via PRICELINE. I will post the winning bid as a separate entry.
Yes, I understand the risks and am willing to take them. Thanks.
I would like to stay at Delta Toronto East for one night July 18 with my 2 kids as we will be visiting the zoo. From what I could see, I only found one 3.5* in that area (Scarborough-Pickering) and nothing higher to upgrade to.
I want to pay no more than $70 for it. What strategy would you propose I use?
Thanks!
I used the PRICELINE link from the forum.

There is no follow-up. I was only asking a question about bidding strategy.
Every bids I've done, I've posted the results here.
The dates for this weekend stay is Nov 3-7, any 4* is good but I was hoping to get Westin Harbour Castle as it is where my conference is taking place.
Thanks.

Hi, just joined the forum! Great info!
I need to find a 4* hotel in Toronto Downtonw North or South for the Aug 4-7 (3 nights). Would I get a better rate per night by booking 3 seperate nights with priceline or would it be the same as booking 1 stay of 3 nights. I really don't mind changing hotels. I just thought it might be easier to book a one night as opposed to a 3 night stay (better deal and better availability?)
What do you think? Any suggestions on how to bid?
Hi, I just joined and have been reading the tips on bidding.
Does anyone know if you get a better deal (price oer night) by booking only one night stay as opposed to say a 3 nights stay? I really don't mind hotel hopping as long as I save money. So would booking 3 1 night stays save me more money than booking one 3 nights stay?

Been trying every day for a month now to get a decent price (around $100 is what I was looking for). But as I got closer and closer to the date of my stay, I upped and upped my bids. Well started this winning bid at $95 and ended up 12 bids later with the winning bid of $134 for a 4* in Downtown TO. To my surprise the hotel I got is not even on the list of hotels on the BB site forum. All is good. I am just happy I got a room and it is still cheaper than I would have paid for otherwise.
I used the PRICELINE link.
