  1. Yes, My life just got a little busy and I forgot to do the bidding for a while. I'll give it a go this afternoon.
  2. Well, I tried the suggested bidding scheme and didn't get a room. Why do you suggest that I wait 3 days between bidding?
  3. I just tried this bidding strategy and struck out. DT $42 DT+SWD $44 DT + NWP $46 DT+NWP+SWD $48 I guess I need to go higher....
  4. Attempting to stay out by the convention center/Lloyd Center to save on parking. Bid on a 3* for $45-rejected. I don't think I get any free rebids so I'm waiting 72 hours now for another try unless someone knows something about free rebids that I don't. It looks like HOTWIRE has the Red Lion offered for $65/night during these dates so I know I can get something for $65. Can it be had cheaper? We shall see. Used your PRICELINE link to do my bidding.
  5. I gave up and just booked it through Expedia. Priceline was offering no deal IMHO. Too bad, I love to win!
  6. Tried again & rejected: 3* DT: $97 3* DT & Airport: $100 I've used the PRICELINE links from your site each time.
  7. Do you know what hotel that Hotwire $129 3* is?
  8. Tried again today on these bids and failed 4* DT: $99 4* DT & Airport: $102 3* DT & Airport: $96
  9. Retried today and failed on these bids 4* DT: $96 4* & 3* DT: $91 4* & 3* Airport: $93
  10. Bid $95 on 4* DT and rejected. Bid $85 on 4* & 3* DT and rejected. Added airport for rebid; Bid $90 on 4* & 3* DT & Airport and rejected. Used the link from your site to PRICELINE.
  11. Well, Just thought I should left y'all know that I gave up and decided to stay home this weekend. I figured I could take myself out to the spa for the same amount of money so I'm going to do that instead.
  12. I rebid at $89 and $90 with no luck. I think I'll sleep on it an try again tomorrow. On the HOTWIRE side, there is a 3* that looks like the Four Points for $74. I'm keeping my eye on Hotwire.
  13. Here's what I've bid and rebid: Starting bid: $75 rebid: $80 rebid: $82 rebid: $84 rebid: $85 (this is really where I want to stop) So, I got a lot of "We're sorry...". I'm willing to try 3* to get a low price (with taxes, the $85 bid turns into $100/night which is what I'd like to stay under). In the new downtown areas, which area has the most desirable 3* hotels?? In the meantime, I might make a standard reservation so I can have some safety net if PL doesn't come through for me.
  14. I tried this again on 7/14- $56 for 3* and then $56 for a 2.5*/3*. Bids failed. Tried again today (7/17)-$55 for 3* and then $55 for a 2.5*/3*. Bids failed. Used Savings barn link. I was able to reserve a motel (Avenue Motel) in Wenatchee for $55/night , 48 hr cancellation notice. So, I think I am going to just give the Priceline plan a chance closer to the date and see if I can't get a $40 room.
  15. Just tried to bid on Priceline for a Wenatchee Hotel So far, no success. Here are my bids so far: 3* only, $50--rejected 3*,2.5* only, $55 -- rejected I'm going to keep trying, edging up a little higher each time. I'm not due there until September. Let me know if you have any suggestions.
  16. :) Well, I won my bid but not with the ideal price. The winning bid was $95 at the Hyatt Regency Sacramento, 1/27-1/29. Here's the play by play: $65 rejected $75 rejected $80 rejected $87 rejected $90 rejected $95 accepted. The good news is that the rest of the wedding party is at the Hyatt so we won't be left out. We are saving $23/night over the wedding rate at $118/night. It looks like PL charges about a service fee (above 12% tax) so our overall savings will be $37 total. I guess that's not too bad, I was just hoping for better. --Laura
  17. :) I've re-bid for the Sacramento hotel this morning and was rejected on all of these bids: $60 $65 $70 $75 $80 $85 (and secretly I was hoping $85 would be rejected because I wanted a better deal) Grrr. Does anyone think the prices will drop closer to the date (checkin 1/27, checkout 1/29)? I'm going to put a hold on the wedding rate (just in case) and then cancelit if Priceline comes through. If anyone has any suggestions or insight to why I'm failing on my bids, I'd appreciate the help.
  18. We ended up winning bidding on a boutique USE downtown, Galleria Park. Unfortunately, I don't remember the details of the bid but we won at $82. The hotel wasn't that great. I've stayed right around the corner at the Argent before and it was very nice. The Galleria Park was a bit older, a bit rundown. The first night, they put us in a room with a single double bed. I was very annoyed. I didn't think this was allowed by Priceline but apparently it is. I called down to complain but they were full so they couldn't move us. They did agree to move us the next morning after folks checked out of the King Bed room next door so that was good. They did have free wine around 5pm every night so we liked that and they had free internet access and shared computers in their tiny lobby. We had a great time at the Bluegrass Festival...lots of enjoyable acts.
  19. I'm trying to get a hotel downtown in Sacramento checkin 1/27/06, out on 1/29/06: 2 nights. The wedding party is staying at the Hyatt Regency for $118+tax wedding party rate. I am bidding 4* to get Hyatt or Sheraton downtown for less. Started with $55 for DT Upped to $60 for DT + Free rebid Upped to $62 for DT + Free rebid Upped to $66 for DT + Free rebid Upped to $68 for DT + Free rebid Upped to $70 for DT + Free rebid stopped and thought I'd post. I am hoping for a deal in the $60-$75 range for a 4* (I'm very attached to 4*). Any thoughts on how I can get this? --Laura
  20. I'd like to stay in either of the Union Square zones, the Wharf area or Cathedral Hill (which I don't think has a 4*. I'm not super familiar with San Francisco but I do know that the Public transportation is extensive so as long as there is an easy route to Golden Gate Park, we're cool with staying a few miles away (maybe 2-4 miles away from the park). Last time I was there I bought a hotel from Expedia for $110/night (Argent-Downtown). I couldn't find a deal like that on Expedia today so I thought I'd Priceline it. I'm cool with a budget of anything lower than $110 a night but of course, I'd like to get the best bang for my buck. So, if you have a feeling I can get a 4* hotel at USE for $65 but it will be $90 anywhere else, that's what type of info I'm looking for. I'm not in a giant hurry because I have 4 months before we depart but I thought I'd start researching now.
