I thought I had a comp room with the Marriott harbor area hotel. When I found out they were completely sold out ,I decided to "go for" the Pier 66. Since no other beach area was 4* (unless something was just added) I made a few lower bids and ended up getting hotel for $79. Since it's a Friday night in cruise season and the lowest rates were listed as $229,seems (based) on other posts) that this is their "magic number".

I noticed that someone got the Chase Suites from PL. I,too,was successful about two months ago. I asked for a fireplace room and got it. It's actually a 2 bedroom penthouse. Overall, Chase Suites compete with Residence Inns and Homewood Suites. Very similar and about the same quality. They had a better manager's reception and about the same quality breakfast. If I wasn't looking for frequent traveler points,I might pick them over the other two chains.
