  1. Hello, Just wondering, I've stayed at this hotel before and it seems like more or less a 3-3.5 star but I'm seeing current wins for this hotel at a 4 star rating. I don't want to win this hotel because I'd like to plan a special trip. Can anyone tell me why this hotel is now a 4-star? Thx for your help..RD
  2. What are, if any, the advantages/disadvantages of bidding for a same-day reservation? I'm planning on going to vegas this Fri but don't want to get a hotel on Sat until Sat morning. Reason being is if everything goes well, I'll want to stay in vegas Sat night. If not, my buddies and I were planning to get a hotel in San Diego for Sat night. Another question, if we bid for a same-day, can we get rooms for an even CHEAPER rate? My logic is, all these rooms that are left over need to be filled. So priceline or the hotel can lower the rate all together.. Any ideas?
  3. shamp, appreciate all your help. so i guess the order of hierarchy where to stay is 1. South Beach 2. Miami Beach 3. Downtown If I end up having to stay in Miami beach, how easy is it to get to/from South Beach? Are the cab rides expensive or is there some kind of bus/shuttle? again, thx for the help
  4. I originally started bidding at around 2 weeks ago. Started bidding at $80, then used the re-bid strategy for the other 4 zones. What took so long is that I incremented my rebids at $2. Finally got the Royal Palm for $106 for 4/5. Tried to get additional nights at the same price but wouldnt let me. Maybe b/c the other nights were a fri and sat night.
  5. Hello all. I'm curious to know. I'll be in Miami April 5-8. I already got a good deal with Royal Palms on priceline for Thur, 4/5, for $106, using SavingsBarn/Priceline. I've been trying to book a 4 Star for Fri and Sat night and am already up to $170 bids for those nights (with no success). I'm trying to save money but location is important. Is it worth it to stay in downtown fri and sat and take a cab to south beach? Or is it better to pay a little more to stay in South beach those nights? Finally, what about staying in Miami beach.. would that be an option too? Btw, I like dancing and night life.. so it seems like I'll be in South Beach most of the time.. Any help would be greatly appreciated. TY.
  6. For the trip from 9/6-9/11/2006. Day 1, I bid Waikiki North, 4-Star + Resort, at $100 - REJECT Then Rebid for Waikiki North and South at $115 - REJECT Day 2, I bid Waikiki North, 4-Star + Resort, at $130 - ACCEPTED at Hawaiian Prince... Thank you all... and go BRUINS! *** 2 Questions for my fellow betterbidding.commers: We get in at around 10:30am, check-in is 3pm. How good are most of the hotels in the area about checking in early??? Also, is it rude to ask for a room upgrade (if a nicer room is available at the same price, of course) since we are getting in right around the middle of the week? Or do they normally upgrade for us as a courtesy?
  7. The Hyatt won't work b/c that's in West Hollywood.. it's pretty far from the kodak theater. I guess I'll have to slowly bid my way up. Sux cuz u can only bid every 24 hrs.
  8. Done. I followed up on my vegas trip last year. Thanks for helping in anyway, wolverine.
  9. I ended up getting the Luxor (4-star) from 9/3-9/5 for $157 a night. Not too bad. Boy was it packed that weekend. And they allowed me to check-in on Saturday, which is cool.
  10. I'm trying to get a room at the Renaissance Hollywood but so far I've bid up to $130 but no success for Sat, 6/24. Curious to know, has anybody bid for a 3 star in hollywood lately? If so, what hotel did you get? I'm hoping to get the Renaissance b/c it's central to everything. Thanks. -jet
  11. Thanks for helping me. I guess I'll have to resort to plan B. Are the 4* hotels that PL offers any good? I wanted to impress this girl that I'm dating. It would have been nice to stay at the venetian but can you name me some 4* hotels that PL has been known to offer? I was thinking the maximum I would pay is about $150. So we'll have to see how things go. Thanks for any help.
  12. Hi there, I'm trying to book a 5* hotel from 9/3-9/5. On priceline, my first bid was $99 in the strip. It was rejected. My second bid included the strip and strip west for $109. Still rejected. You guys think that room prices will be inflated for labor day weekend? If so, how much should I start my bidding at? You think I need to start at $150? I hope not.
