  1. I'm hoping $150, but I don't know if I can get that for that weekend.
  2. I was thinking of going the name your own price route. I'd like to be near the honkey tonks, but zone 5 seems really large! What is the best bet for bidding here? Looking at 4/29-5/1, marathon weekend......so.....EVERYTHING is jacked up! I'd like a 3* or better.
  3. I agree. I went out to LA 3 times last summer and booked around $65/nt staying about 30 minutes outside LA. This summer, I couldn't get less than 85!
  4. I have been working on this deal for days trying to get all around L.A. for cheap. This was the best deal I could get. I am actually paying $75 per night because there was a $7 bonus cash given today PER DAY! Saved me $28! Daily rates are $149 for those nights. It's more north than I was hoping, but I will take it :)
  5. Hmmm...I have never used that search box, just the link you provide. I did it again today through the link and did the same thing. It will only let me rebid once and then it gives me hotels. I opened a new browser and it wouldn't let me bid again. That's the first time that has happened and I use PL about 5 times in the past. Anyway, I'll make sure to use the search box tomorrow. 7/3-7/5.... I was hoping a 2.5* for around $60/$65
  6. Found the wins, but I'm still confused as to why I coudn't rebid?
  7. And am I losing it or missing something? Where did the wins from this board go? I see 5 posts?
  8. I am looking for a hotel in Santa Claus, IN. The highest level is 2.5* in Dale, then 3 other rebidding zones that have 2* or below. I bid $35 for Dale at 2.5*. Didn't accept. Was asked to rebid. I added a rebid zone and increased to $40. The site said it couldn't accept my request at this time but gave me other hotels in the area to look at. There were still 2 rebid zones available for me. Why did it not give me the option to add another area? Thanks.
  9. My 4* option was upgraded. So, really I didn't have 10 rebid zones. People need to be made aware of this possibility. I learn something new every time I use this. Thanks.
  10. Ugh...well that didn't work. I just went in and chose only a 4*. I started at all the areas that weren't even close to having a 4* hotel! Then went and started rebidding zones for those that had 3 1/2 and below. I ended up in a zone that says there are no 4* hotels!!!! How did that happen? Looks like a nice hotel, but a little further from where I wanted to be and I'm sure I paid more than what they would have accepted since I was already at $85! I guess the Hilton Orlando Resort Lake Buena Vista Resort is considered a 4* even though Priceline shows none in the downtown disney area???
  11. My goal is to stay "around" $100 for either a 3.5 or 4*. It doesn't matter. We have a car rental, so it seems that the Sea World area won't be too far off. There seems to be better deals given in that area, that's why I suggested that area to bid on as well.
  12. I am hoping to bid for a hotel in the Universal area. I would prefer a 3 1/2* or higher. Any suggestions on where to begin my bidding or HOW to bid? I'm vacationing on 3/24-3/26. Thanks. I'm looking in the universal area or the sea world area. I will have a car so that doesn't seem like a far drive. I didn't want to spend over $100/nt. Do you think that's possible?
  13. Well I tried 3 1/2 pasadena, $70 rejected. Added C/N/R $75, rejected Then added 3* and asked $65 and accepted. I got the Doubletree LA Norwalk. It's a little further out than I wanted to be, but looks like it's in a safe area. Since I have a car, I'm not complaining too much! The DT is asking $164 currently for those nights. Thanks for your help :)
  14. I think MD might be a little too far out for me. It would be about 35 minutes to Hollywood.
  15. I have checked 3* in that area as well. Are 3* hotels in Pasadena suitable? I just want to go as cheap as possible. What would your strategy be for bidding 3*? Where would you start? I see only one hotel the Courtyard by Marriott for 3* in Pasadena, but they still want $180!
  16. Yes, Pasadena will be fine. I need to save some money somewhere! Any of the above mentioned places will work if we need to add in areas. I REALLY appreciate it!
  17. OK, I just bought my airline ticket. August 10th - 13th (3 night hotel). I see some people getting the Sheraton Pasadena for 3.5* for $75/nt so I'm feeling confident. Any help in how to bid would be greatly appreciated. Like I said, I'm not real picky, I just want some place safe since I will be traveling alone.
  18. Yes, I have looked at the zones. Hollywood and Downtown LA I don't think I would want to do less than a 4*. As I look at a "safety" map of California, obviously being in a city, it is a little more "rougher" to put it nicely. I wouldn't be opposed to have a 3* or 3 1/2* in B.H., Century City or Culver City zones. They seem a little more safe if I'm reading that map correctly, but again, I'm not from the area. I'm getting my info from http://www.lalife.com/ If you click on safety at the top it breaks it down. I want to be within 20 minutes of whatever I chose to do, so somewhere central would be nice, whether it's the beach or Hollywood, etc.... Is that even possible? But, if I have to choose, I would prefer price over location, as long as I'm safe. I need to stay under $100. Any suggestions on how I should bid with zones? BTW...went to book my flight today and tickets jumped up! So I'm at least going to wait until I have those before bidding. Hopefully they come back down on Monday :)
  19. Thanks for the heads up on the move! I would have wondered where it would have went to! Yes, I will have a car :) I appreciate the advice. Do you think I should wait until the date gets closer? I guess I could try now, if I get declined, I get declined! Are there any other fees associated with Priceline that I need to budget for?
  20. I have never used Priceline before. I would like to name my own price. I was hoping that questions regarding how to identify zones, etc could be answered here. I need A LOT of guidance as I am unfamiliar with the area. I am traveling Aug 10th-Aug 13th. I want to be amidst everything. I was hoping for a 4* or above, as there are numerous shady hotels in the area. Should I wait to bid? Bid now? I was hoping less than $100/night. Is that feasible? Any suggestions for bidding with regards to zones that I have been reading about? Thanks in advance for any help.
