  1. Wow, maybe that is just a busy weekend in Vegas, or maybe I waited too long...Anyway Hotwire has the following 4* North Strip hotel available for $136, a little more than I wanted to pay, but that's ok. Does this sound like TI or The Mirage? It wouldn't be Trump would it? I do want to avoid Trump. 2. Hi, I'd love to hear any feedback on this issue: I was initially going for a 5* North Strip casino (not Trump) for the weekend of 10/5-10/7, but after I was rejected at $150 I decided to go ahead and include 4* North Strip casinos in my bidding, and I bid all the way up to $115 using the zone method. I was still rejected at $115 for a 4* North Strip casino! (Last year I got rooms at TI for $95...) I will try again tomorrow bidding up to around $125 I guess. Or I could add the South Strip casinos...but I am not as familiar with them, really would prefer TI, The Mirage or one of the 5*s on the N Strip...Also, this naming of the South Strip hotels worries me a bit: "Las Vegas Strip Vicinity South." We definitely don't want to be off the strip at all! Does anyone have ideas of where the bid would be accepted for a 4* N Strip casino for that weekend? Or if it's safe to book the South Strip "vicinity?" Thanks! :)
  3. Funny, I am in almost the same situation as you are right now, trying to find a good deal on a 5* and staying away from Trump and the crappier properties, lol. For what it's worth, I went through this process last year and we ended up getting rooms at Treasure Island. (I believe that TI and the Mirage are the two choices for 4* on the North Strip, but please keep in mine that I am NOT an expert at all.) Anyways, TI ended up being perfect for us, though I personally would probably have preferred the Mirage. TI has a great location, close to everything, big casino on the main floor, decent restaurants, Starbucks, and there is even a Walgreens across the street if you want some cheap water bottles, etc. The rooms were fine. For my girlfriends who wanted to go out partying and dancing the other clubs etc were very close. Hope that helps a little in your search. Oh, and I got win the rooms on Priceline for $95 per night, if that gives you any ideas about your starting bid. Good luck!
  4. Ok I got it! Thanks for all your help! Here are the details: I had to bid and re-bid a number of times, using the multi-zone bidding technique. On about the 4th try, using 4* + Boulder Strip + Henderson + Las Vegas Strip North, I got Treasure Island for $95 per room, per night! Not bad! I am pretty happy with this result. I probably would have preferred the Mirage, but for the price TI will be just fine, and the location is PERFECT, which was really my main concern. Thanks again for all the help, the site is great, and I did link to PRICELINE through this site. Cora C :)
  5. Thanks for the reply! Treasure Island or Mirage would be perfect! I saw that Treasure Island can be as low as $83 so maybe I should start at like $85. thanks! :)
  6. So, reading through the posts here, I am starting to get the idea that perhaps I should just put in a bid on Priceline for a 4* hotel in the "Las Vegas Strip North" area. It sounds like the Trump hotel is both a 5* and located in the "Las Vegas Strip Vicinity North - Condo" area, so I most likely would not get that. Circus Circus is probably not a 4*, so I'd be safe there too I think. Since all I really need is a decent casino hotel on the strip, I am thinking this would be a good strategy. How low do you think I could start? Would $90 be too low, given that I don't have a lot of flexibility on the zones? (I'm afraid "Las Vegas Strip Vicinity South" could put us a block or more off the strip, and that would be bad.) Thanks, this is an extremely useful site and I'll be sure to link to PRICELINE and Hotwire through the site, and also to post my results! Cora C :)
  7. Hi There! I have a small team of sales staff (4 of us girls!) that I am taking to Las Vegas for the weekend of July 29-31 for a fun perk. I'm trying to find a good price at any of the decent casinos on the strip. My budget is not set in stone, but it would be great if I could pay around $100 per night per room. (I realize there will be tax and probably a $15-$25 resort fee as well.) I read in another post somewhere that "Las Vegas North Strip" on Priceline frequently results in the Trump Towers (or whatever it's called...it's been ages since I've been to Vegas), and that property is somewhat removed from the strip and doesn't have a casino??? I'd really like to get something right on the main strip, and not crummy. Priceline doesn't seem to have a "Las Vegas South Strip" option, only "Las Vegas Strip Vicinity South," which sounds to me like it may be properties not even on the main strip! Should I just bid on a 4 star "Las Vegas North Strip" hotel and assume I won't get Trump, since it's listed as a 5 star? (Actually in the regular section of Priceline they have the Riviera available for $112 per night, which is in my price range, but it's listed as a 3 star, and I am wondering if I can get something nicer for the girls by bidding???) Hotwire lists a 4 star "Las Vegas Strip North Area" hotel with casino, fitness, pool, restaurants, business center, golf nearby and spa for $114 per night, so maybe I should just take that...but I can't figure out which casino that might be, and I'm thinking with tax and resort fee, that $114 will turn into at least $150 per room per night, which I suppose is ok, but ideally I'd like to get something a little cheaper...Hotwire also shows a 3 star "Las Vegas Strip North Area" hotel with resort, casino, fitness, pool, restaurants, golf nearby and spa for $81 (a great price!), but I am terrified that this could be Circus Circus! Then there's another 3 star, this one in the "Las Vegas Strip - South area" for $94 per room, per night, with casino, pool, restaurant, business center and golf nearby, but again, I have no clue which property this is, and I'm not that familiar with the Vegas casinos anyways! Honestly, I'm not that picky, I just want to get a decent casino right on the strip so that the girls can run around and have a good time and get back to their (nice) rooms easily! Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!!! Cora C :)
