  1. Thanks, I've followed up on the Priceline Boston thread and clicked each of the links you provided.
  2. To close the loop on this topic, I was unable to secure a room within my price range and stayed with a family friend instead. Thanks
  3. Looking for a 4* hotel in one of the following zones for 7/4 - 7/6. Max budget before taxes is $115. 1. Central Park South 2. Chelsea 3. Downtown - Financial District 4. Empire State Building Area 5. Midtown East 6. Midtown West 7. SoHo - Tribeca 8. Times Square - Theatre District Please let me know your thoughts. My rebid zones are LIC and Morningside Heights. Thanks!
  4. Clicked both links. Dates are 3/12 - 3/15. Thank you.
  5. Hello, This will be my first time visiting Boston, so I wanted to get the advice of this board regarding which zones to choose. I did some research online and found that "Boston Common - Theater District," "Copley Square - Back Bay," and "Quincy Market - Financial District" seem to be the most frequently recommended. I am going to be the typical tourist on this trip so will want easy access to the T and the sights. Do these zones seem like a good fit, and are there any others that might be worth looking into? I'd like to start with a 4* strategy up to $140. If unsuccessful, then a 3.5* strategy would work. Thank you in advance for your help.
  6. I know this is somewhat dated but wanted to let you know that I rescheduled this trip for 12/20 - 12/22.. I got the Sheraton Tribeca for $111 a night using your PRICELINE link. Thanks.
  7. Hello all, I'm hoping to find a 4* hotel in one of the following zones: CPS, Chelsea, Downtown/FiDi, ESB, HK, MTE, MTW, SoHo/Tribeca, TS for $115 or less before taxes/fees. Thanks in advance for your help.
  8. I wanted to close this thread by letting you know I ended up staying with a friend in the city since I could not book a hotel within my price range. Thanks for your help.
  9. thereuare, I'm thinking of waiting closer to my check-in date to book.. do you think this is advisable? If I can't get anything in Manahttan in about 2-3 weeks, I was thinking I could stay in Jersey and take the PATH in.
  10. Thanks for the strategy. I tried the 4* one and the following 3.5* one without luck (I adjusted the prices based on a previous strategy you provided). I would be willing to shoot for a 3* strategy next... I think you outlined one for me before that I can use. Select 3.5* MSG, Downtown, ESB... 11. Thanks for the reply. I'll take the FAQ's advice-- since my plans are firm, I'll bid early making sure that I don't overbid. I'd like to start with a 4* strategy first if possible.. willing to go up to $200 with the following zones: CPS, Chelsea, Downtown, ESB, MSG, MTE, MTW, TS Thank you.
  12. I'm hoping no more than $200 if possible. I've had better luck bidding about 10 days before the check-in date but wanted to see what you thought about bidding before then?
  13. Hi all, Have been very successful in the past on Priceline thanks to your help and am here to try to come up with a strategy again. I'm hoping to bid for a hotel in NYC on 12/7/11-12/8/11. I imagine this is a very busy time of the year. To start off, does anyone have some input on what prices I can expect through Priceline for these dates? I'm looking into 3-4* hotels in Manhattan. Zones include: CPS, Chelsea, Downtown, ESB, MSG, MTE, MTW, TS Thanks!
  14. I was just able to book the Millenium Hilton (a 4* in the Financial District) by bidding on priceline, $145 for 9/29-10/1. Maybe work up to that price, and see if you get a similar outcome?
  15. Thanks for listing this all out. I actually bid right before you posted the strategy and was able to get the Millenium Hilton (all the details were described above). Thanks!!
  16. I wanted to let you know that I started using the same 4* strategy as before just with increasing each of my original bids by $25. I ended up getting the 4* Millenium Hilton for $145. Used the PRICELINE link. Thanks for your help everyone.
  17. thereuare, Do you have any advice on waiting until closer to my check-in date, particularly for NYC? I would be willing to bid up to $175 given the fact that I have not been able to book a hotel. Could you provide a 4* strategy for zones CPS, Chelsea, Downtown, ESB, MTE, MTW, and TS? Thanks!
  18. Thanks for the 3* strategy. Unfortunately, I still couldn't get a hotel. I know it's not an exact science and that there is a thread devoted to this, but do you have any thoughts on waiting until closer to my check-in date, particularly for NYC? If waiting won't help matters, I would be willing to bid up to $175 starting with a 4* strategy. Would you mind listing such a strategy out for the following zones: CPS, Chelsea, Downtown, ESB, MTE, MTW, and TS? Thanks again for your help, and I'll be sure to use the PRICELINE link when bidding.
  19. No luck with the 3.5* strategy either. Can we do a 3* strategy with the same criteria as the 3.5* strategy? Are there any further zones to be cautious about with this change in quality? Thanks! I will use the PRICELINE link when bidding.
  20. Thanks, I just went through the strategy and no luck with 4*. Can we try a 3.5* strategy now? These are the zones I'd like to use: Chelsea, Downtown, ESB, MSG, MTW, TS Quality - 3.5* Price - max $150 Thanks for your help, and I'll be sure to use the PRICELINE link when bidding.
  21. Thanks so much for listing all of that. I'm going to be bidding tonight and am hoping to have everything booked then. Would you mind listing out a 3.5* strategy (that excludes CPS and MTE) with the rest of the criteria being the same, just in case the 4* doesn't work? Thanks again, and I'll be sure to use the PRICELINE link.
  22. Thanks for your reply. I've seen posts where one of the moderators says the Hudson Hotel has notoriously small rooms, which is why I took off CPS. Could you please adjust the max bid to be $150 for this strategy instead... starting with 4* first? Thanks.
  23. Hello all, Thank you again for your help last time in coming up with a bidding strategy for a stay in NYC. It worked out very well, and I'm back here again hoping to book another great deal. This is what I'm looking for and would appreciate any advice going forward: Dates: 9/29-10/1 (two nights) Price: $125 base rate (am looking at max $150 including taxes) Quality: 4* first, if nothing, then 3.5*, if nothing then 3* Regions: At 4* level: CPS, Chelsea, Downtown, ESB, MSG, MTE, MTW, TS. At 3.5* and 3* level: Chelsea, Downtown, ESB, MSG, MTW, TS. I took out CPS and MTE at 3*-3.5* levels because of the small rooms and long walks from subway stations. Do these criteria seem reasonable? I know this is starting to become the busiest time of the year but am hoping that with the proper bidding strategy, I can get something within my price range. As always, I will use the PRICELINE link so you guys get credit. Thanks again.
  24. First time using Priceline bidding and ended up getting this for $115 a night for two nights (7/29-7/31) using the PRICELINE link on the forum.. total came to $285.96 with taxes. Not bad for a little over a week away, and it looks like if I'd booked on Hotels.com, it would have cost close to $600 for those two nights. Seems it was recently remodeled.. some complaints about it being a true 4* hotel, but this will be fine for my dad and brother who will be out in the city most of the time. Thank you for the help with bidding.
  25. Thank you for the strategy. Before making the bid, I did want to ask if you think it would be worth it to try for a 4* in my price range first?
