  1. I tried again last nite with Notting Hill and Kensington up to $180, and got rejected (not surprising to me at this pt now :)). I am going to book a backup hotel now and maybe try PL again couple weeks later. I'll report back on my progress later. Thanks thereuare and Romelle for your help!
  2. I started to bid for Notting hill from $100, increasing $5 each time up to $170, all rejected!! I am not feeling it this time, I dunno what's up with these 2 days! Other than trying again tomorrow, I dunno if there's anything else I can do at PL anymore. My friend could not increase the upper limit so we are top at $180. :)
  3. forgot to say that when I was bidding for Kensington, at $160 they asked me to add $40 to $200 for a better chance. And at $180, the message show again to ask me to add $40 again to go up to $220. I ignored it both times and continue with my bidding strategy. So it looks like the "right" price is between $184-220? It seems high for the area!
  4. These 2 days are definitely giving me a run for my money! I bid up to $184 and got rejected at Kensington area!!!! :) I wonder are there some popular events happening those couple days?? So I guess there's only Notting Hill area I can bid on now. I read some won a hotel on the outer edge of Notting Hill, it seem kindda far away if that's the case. does anyone know how long it will take by tube to get to say British Museum area from there? If I will bid on Notting Hill, what would be a good starting price? Please advice. I have so many rejected offers so now I have 6 rebid zones already! lol Thanks again folks.... or should I get used to say "mate"? :)
  5. I have tried Mayfair-Soho, Westminster, Bloomsbury-Marble Arch, and the 2 no 4 star rebid zone (Webley, Hammersmith) up to $180-182 for 4* all rejected last night. So I guess I have 5 rebid zones now for 4* in Kensington-Earl's Ct area now :) I think I saw won price for Kensington-Earl's Ct area between $90-165, usually on the low 100s. Maybe $90 to start to bid? Please comment and help me with the strategy. Thanks thanks!!!
  6. I should bid in the Kensington-Earl's Ct area for the Kensington area? Between Kensington-Earl's Ct and Notting Hill-Bayswater, which area would you recommend in terms of convenience (usual popular won hotel distance to tube station) and have more restaurants or stores? Can you also recommend a starting price for the area as I haven't research much on these 2 areas. Thanks so much!
  7. My preference would be Westminster & Bloomsbury-Marble Arch I have tried to bid the 4* in these 2 areas with the re-bid zone, Westminster up to $180, Bloomsbury-Marble Arch up to $182, both failed :) Seems there's not much inventory on these 2 weekdays! It looks like I may have to go down to 3* in my desired locations... Are 3 stars in London good hotels? What price you think I should bid at for 3*? Thanks again.
  8. I can tell you the view from TST side looking at HK Island is prettier than from HK Island looking to TST. But both are excellent & beautiful location as it is on the 2 shores of the famous Victoria Harbor. Good luck bidding!
  9. Thank you so much for your help to make my hotel stay so much better. Really appreciated it!!! :)
  10. Hi guys, I used the bidding strategy suggested and still couldn't get anything 4 star bidding up to USD$180 for 14-16 Sep in London Mayfair-Soho area. Since Mayfair-Soho is out of the question, Can anyone suggest other nice and convenient areas for me to bid for? My highest bid limit is USD$180. Should I lower my highest bid for the other areas I will be bidding since they are not as popular as Mayfair-Soho? Please help me with the bidding strategy also as I am still new to this. Thank you very much!! This website has been so helpful! :)
  11. Thanks! Good luck to your bidding in HK. I grew up in Hong Kong so feel free to ask if you have questions, I will see if I will be able to help.
  12. I have successfully booked the 5 star Intercontinental London Park Lane hotel for 16-18 Sep!! Got it for USD$165 + tax, I am so excited to be staying at such a nice hotel!! :) However I still couldn't get anything bidding up to $180 with the suggested strategy for 14-16 Sep. Since Mayfair-Soho is out of the question, Can you suggest other nice and convenient area for me to bid in? Should I lower my highest bid for the other areas I will be bidding since they are not as popular as Mayfair-Soho? Thank you so much for your help!!
  13. Hi, Splitting to 2 nites + 2 nites at 2 hotels is acceptable. We prefer to stay in the Mayfair-Soho area if possible as it seem it has more night life, pub, cafes, restaurants etc. This is my first time to Europe actually so I don't really know what other areas are similar to Mayfair-Soho in additional. Any input would be appreciated! :) Me and my travel buddy are both female and in our late 20s. So safety would be important to us when we will return to our hotel probably late at night. Thanks in advance!
  14. Hi, I am new to this website but have found it very informative. I am trying to book a 4* hotel room in London (Mayfair-Soho) 14-18 Sep. I have tried up to USD $160 but have been turned down :). My upper limit bid is USD$180 (excluding taxes). Can I get your help on the strategy on the bidding place I should use? I checked today that the no 4 & 5 star re-bid zone is Hammersmith and Webley. Thank you for your help!
