  1. Not sure if bidding through Savingsbarn.com still helps this site but that's what I used. Bid 3* Detroit Auburn Hills Aug 6/06 1 night, 2 rooms. Accepted first bid. Offer price: $46.00 x 2 rooms Taxes & fees $18.92 Total: $110.92
  2. Success, thanks thereuare. If anyone else is trying you may want to start out lower and see what it goes for. Your offer price: $50.00 Taxes & S/C 13.24 Total Charges $63.24 We paid $75 thru valuetrips last time so this is a great deal.
  3. Hi thereuare, we're finally cruising again and I need a refresher course on Ft Lauderdale. Hoping you'll give me a bidding strategy. Am I correct that there are no rebid zones for 2.5* downtown and only 1 for 3* downtown (miramar). I've stayed at Amerisuites before and we liked it so I wouldn't mind 2.5*. What would be a good $ amount for my 1 bid for 2.5*? Failing that I'd be willing to go as high $75 for 3* or 4*. Wouldn't matter to me which level I got. It's all about price :) . Thanks in advance for your help. ML
  4. I always follow your Ottawa posts MJRBIM and suddenly felt inspired to tell you what a great asset you are to this section of the board. Your posts were a big help when we were planning our family's trip to Ottawa last summer, so thanks. I can't help wondering whenever I read your posts, what it is that takes you there so often. (Just curious - no pressure to answer. ) Is it business or do you just love Ottawa? Or, are you one of those crazy feds stirring up that whole political melodrama taking place there right now? :) If so, stop it, I'm sick of elections. :)
  5. :) I can tell you with complete certainty that I haven't always done a great job at that! :)
  6. Bid again tonight. Bid 4* Vancouver - $78 rejected Added Delta - $81 rejected Added Surrey - $84 accepted - Marriott Vancouver Pinnacle Downtown Offer Price $84 Number of Rooms - 1 Number of Nights - 2 Subtotal $168.00 Taxes & S/F 27.16 Total $195.16 I know I bid above your recommendation but this is for my inlaws pre-Alaskan cruise stay and they were willing to bid it up if I could keep it below $200. They were getting pretty nervous about not having something booked. Best price I could find for this hotel was $229 (senior rate) Cdn per night. By the time you add the taxes in it's right around $500 Cdn. They're very happy! As always, you and this board were a big help thereuare.
  7. Thanks thereuare, I'll try again in a couple of days. I sent an email about the EasyClickTravel property.
  8. Hey folks, here's what I've done so far: Bidding 4* Vancouver: Bid $60 - rejected Added Surrey - $65 rejected Added Langley - $70 rejected Added Delta - $72 rejected. No offers to add $$ and your offer will be accepted. Any thoughts? Also, EasyClickTravel has an Off the Record showing as a 4.5 star at $97. Anyone have any idea what it could be? Thanks a bunch.
  9. Bid 3* Troy-Madison Heights $41 - rejected Added Warren Bid $44 - rejected Hubby tried to bid: Bid 3* Troy-Madison Heights $46 - rejected Added Warren Bid $48 - accepted Your offer price $48.00 Taxes and Fees 13.20 Total Charges $61.20
  10. Thanks for all your hard work thereuare. This board is a fabulous resource and I continue to tell everyone that asks me how I get great hotel deals that this is the place to go for all the info you need. Keep up the great work. :)
  11. Congratulations to thereuare and family! The baby is absolutely beautiful! (and I totally sucked at the contest.) :)
  12. I've stayed there. It's a nice place. There's a great restaurant called the Marketplace which is part of the Tunnel Bar BQ group of restaurants. If you're familiar with Windsor at all you'll know that name. Take a taxi back to your hotel. Won't cost that much. The hotel is definitely within the shaded area. That's the chance you take.
  13. Hey thereuare I'm posting a little review on this hotel. Do what you need to with it if I posted in the wrong spot :) . Stayed at this Radisson last Friday night. We had a two room suite - not overly large but very clean. Had a king sized bed with a tv, pay per view etc. in the bedroom. Normal Radisson bathroom size wise but also clean. This seems to be an older hotel so it's a bit dated and we found the rooms to be a bit dark but still fine. The other room is small but has a desk, sofabed, coffee table and tv. It was a nice room for the price we paid. Additionally, there is a manager's reception in the bar from 5-7. They ask that you fill out your comment card and bring it down for your free cocktails. Charlie the bartender was a fabulous guy and we had a great time with him and some folks visiting from Ireland. Breakfast is included in the morning - scrambled eggs, bacon, home fries, cereals, bagels, muffins, toast, pastries, coffee, milk and juices. Very nice breakfast. All in all a great stay and to give credit where it's due, this morning I realized that I had left a favourite pair of earings behind in the room. Can't believe it, I'm fanatical about checking the room over before we leave. Anyway, called over there this morning and talked to Chantel at the front desk. She has my earrings in the cash box at the front desk - said I left them under the phone!! Must have been all that sake from Benihana the night before! Sorry, didn't have a camera along so I can't post any pictures. Next time!

  15. Amenities are: Hotel, Suite, Complimentary Breakfast, Pool, Fitness Center, Restaurant, Hi-speed Internet
  16. Won the Radisson Suites Hotel in Farmington Hills, Mi Price $65.00 Taxes $16.95 Total $81.95 I'm actually pretty disappointed with this because I was thinking it might be the Embassy Suites in Novi and I was a bit surprised to end up in Farmington Hills. In looking at the map I guess I should have seen it but I wasn't thinking FH. Also when I went to the Radisson web site I could have purchased this room direct for $64 + only $6.08 in taxes for a total of $70.08. I believe the double the difference only applies to the room rate not the taxes, right? This was my first buy on Hotwire and I think I'll stick to Priceline from now on. If nothing else it's another hotel to add to your list I believe.
  17. It's posted thereuare. It's the post called 3* Toronto (Airport YYZ) Marriott $38 Oct 1.
  18. Thereuare, I'm checking for the night of Oct. 23, one night, one room, Detroit (Troy-Madison Heights). This one is coming up at $47: Suite, pool, fitness center, comp breakfast, kitchenette, high speed internet, business center and laundry (self service). Any ideas? Thanks.
  19. We quit at $65 because she had set that as her limit. Booked one out at YYZ for her instead.
  20. FYI: Bid 4* Toronto Downtown - $54 - rejected Added rebid zone - $58 - rejected Added rebid zone - $60 - rejected Added rebid zone - $65 - rejected with message to add $17 Bidding for a friend and $65 plus fees was her maximum so stopped there.
  21. :) I was bidding this for a friend yesterday. I'm not sure if this has been happening to others but this was a first for me. Bid 3* Toronto YYZ - $30 Rejected but got the message to add $8 and our bid would be accepted. Added rebid zone bid $34 Rejected again but this time the message said to add $9 and the bid would be accepted. Added rebid zone bid $36 Rejected again message again said to add $9. I've never had this happen before. We decided to quit and mull it over. Then my friend got the check status email for the first bid of $30 which still said if she added $8 it would likely be accepted. She was good with that rate considering that the best we could find was $119 Cdn at the same hotel, so she went ahead and bought it at $38. Taxes and fees were $9.44 for a total of $47.44. Has anyone else experienced this thing with the extra amount they're asking for getting higher with each rebid?
  22. My sincere condolences to his family. I have enjoyed his posts very much this past year.
  23. Congrats to you and your family thereuare. Might want to start working on that Priceline double occupancy thing now :) !
  24. Hey Lorian, Glad to see you made it over from the CC boards. Good luck with your bidding.
