  1. Wondering when the best time to book a room for a trip at the end of July. Would like 3.5 *+, in Bklyn. Am I foolish to think I can get a decent, clean room for around $100/night? If so, what is a more realistic price for this? Thank you!!!
  2. I started bidding at $85/night and worked up by $5-$8 increments, keeping the 4*. Finally won at $132. I am pleased with this result considering the time of year.
  3. Thanks for all of the feedback-it was really helpful! I just secured a bid on Priceline for one night at the rate of $132. Thank you!!!
  4. I need a room for one night on 9/2. I would normally book early considering it's a holiday weekend, but I understand that the better deals are found closer to the arrival date. I am not familiar with the city at all, but after looking at the maps on Priceline, it seems like the ideal areas are Harborfront, Copley Square, and Quincy Market. The highest I am willing to go is around $150 for the night, before taxes... Are there any hints/tips/suggestions for booking? I understand the re-bidding process... I think my unfamiliarity of the city is making this a bit more difficult for me. Thank you for helping!
  5. Yes, we won the Whitehall for $113, and our dates are 8/11-15.
  6. Yikes! This was a bit more than I planned on spending, but I kept getting rejected! I am newer to using Priceline, so any helpful hints for next time are appreciated... 1. Starting bid: $75, NMA, River North 2. increased bid to $80, added Franklin Park 3. increased bid to $85, added Hyde Park 4. increased bid to $93, added Lincoln Park 5. increased bid to $98, added MDW 6. increased bid to $105, added Midway North 7. increased bid to $113, added Skokie/Evanston
  7. I am traveling to Chicago for a wedding from 8/11-15. Just booked through PRICELINE, using your same steps, but continuing to add zones through Skokie. I kept the rating at 4*, only wanted a room near NMA, and ended up a winning priceline bid at the Whitehall Hotel for $113/night. I think this is a good deal (the advertised rate is $170), but had not planned on spending this much for a room... I am not sure if there is an event that weekend or is summer rates are just high, but I did panic a bit when my bid for $105 was rejected... Hope this helped, and good luck!
