  1. I guess for 200.00 for 2 it's okay with me. It's a short flight.

    What's everyone's vote? Mandalay or Venetian?,

    If I choose the Venetian (I'm leaning that way) and book the air seperate at $400 for both and hotel from site at 219 it's 1097.00 and free air and hotel "deal" is 1269.00 weird. maybe I should try to get Venetian on priceline? What would be a good starting bid based on their present room rate?

  2. Allegiantair.com. FSD to Vegas. Looks like a special thru March 21st. Regularily $200 per person. I am noticing on the packages they list a Mandalay Bay Resort and a Mandalay the Hotel which is more? and also they list it as a *4 and Venetian a *5. Do you know which would be best? The only bummer is the flight home leaves at 6:30 AM

  3. I've never bid on Vegas before. Only have 4 days and want to celebrate our anniversary. July 6-8 preferably but July 13-15 would be considered. (3 nights)

    I'd like 5* but would consider *4, would like to pay max of about $150. Mandalay Bay looks cool!

    Venetian=219,219,219

    Bellagio=259,359,359

    Mandalay Bay=249,259,139

    I think rebids are: Conven.,freemont,henderson,airport,nellis,summerlin,and West of strip.

    What do you suggest? It's been so long since we've been in Vegas, I'm at a loss. Thanks in advance.

  4. Won for a $42 bid. Note that I have won this hotel nearly 2 months prior to travel dates also. Check in pleasant and easy. Asked for 2 rooms close together, gave him my Starwood card. He said he'd try for the larger rooms. No kings available (lots of conventions on the board) but we got double connecting rooms in the South tower on 14th floor. Good attitude about priceline. Plenty of free parking. The Sofitel is next door.

    Looked to be newely renovated with up to date decor , nice furniture, and sweet sleeper beds. Desk and great office chair. Internet for $10 per day. Another chair with ottoman. Large closet, coffee in room. Only negative was the bathroom was extremely small. Okay for noise (not the best I've stayed in, not the worst) Could hear walking above us and water flushing.

    Free local newspaper each morning. Nice pool and hot tub. The hot tub was huge! about 10' x 30' Pretty busy though. We went at 7:00 AM and had it to ourselves. Not too hot, like some are. Serve Starbucks in the coffee shop. Went to the comedy improv act and it was fun, and only $8. Only food we ordered was at the show, it was just pizza but was very good.

    I would definately stay here again. Regular room rate was $110 so $42 was a great deal. The old Prime Hotel (which is what I got before in this zone)is now the Park Place. I rate the Sheraton higher.

  5. *3 MOA Sheraton $42 Sept. 29 & 30. 2 rooms

    I decided that downtown was probably hopeless. Knew that the Sheraton has been coming up often @ $42 and they had a 50% occupancy. I thought about trying lower to start just to see, but thought it risky I could get the Park Place (not that that would be really bad, but I think the Sheraton is nicer and recently renovated)

    Thanks for all the help. Bid through savingsbarn of course.

  6. We've stayed many times in both the MOA zone and DWTN zone. We love the atmosphere of downtown so that is my preference. We are going for a twins game so I suppose we could try the metrodome zone, it is possible to walk between the dwnt and metrodome zones.

    The Holiday Inn Metrodome shows no availabity, and the 4 points Sheraton 150.00.

    The Sofitel in the MOA zone is 119.00 cancellable. Sheraton Bloomington 139.00 cancellable

    This weekend is the last games of the season, so probably why everything is so high.

    Hotwire this AM is 161.00 for *4

    I'm so spoiled paying around $50 in Minneapolis, I'm having a hard time going over $70. I may book the Sofitel as a backup, what do you think?

  7. Theruare,

    I think I've given up on the Dominican. The airfare is just too high from our small market airport (about 800.00) Maybe we'll keep it simple and try for an all inclusive in cancun. I have no experience with airfare via priceline but may give it a shot. Do you have any experience with itasoftware.com for airfare checking? I like that you can search for a 30 day window and it shows day to day prices. Is it reliable or is there something better I should look at. Every time I try the airfare checker link here is starts with 3 choices but just takes me to Orbitz? Thanks in advance.

  8. Firstly, if this is in the wrong forum please feel free to move it.

    Wondering if anyone has any advice on the Dominican? It's a place we haven't been but are considering it for this February.

    I found this on Hotwire and have a question:

    4-star all-inclusive hotel in Puerto Plata

    This upscale establishment offers thoughtful features, quality rooms and a high level of service. See all-inclusive hotel details

    *

    * Resort

    * Beachfront

    * Food and Beverages Included

    * A La Carte Dining

    * Water Sports/Activities Included

    * Evening Entertainment Included

    * Complimentary Breakfast

    * Children's Activity Program

    This is for:1 room, 5 nights, 2 adults, 1 child

    But the price says: $156

    per room

    per night

    Can that be? I would think since it's all inclusive it would be per person, not per room?

    I am not familiar with hotwire, have only used priceline. I don't believe I can specify all inclusive on priceline.
