  1. Quick update, I didn't end up going with PRICELINE or HOTWIRE. Thanks for all your help.
  2. Looked at the named hotels that Hotwire is offering and I think it could be Quality Inn in East Syracuse...
  3. Tried Priceline and couldn't get a decent price for a 3*, so will settle for a cheaper property farther out. Saw this one on hotwire: 2* in the Syracuse Airport Area $47/night Amenities: High-Speed Internet Access Accessible for the deaf Free Parking Free Breakfast Free Internet Accessible path of travel In-room accessibility Accessible bathroom Handicapped parking Thinking it could be Candlewood Suites, but amenities don't list kitchenette. Any ideas? Thanks. :)
  4. Well I bid up to $100 today using the free rebidding zones and nothing! Not even a counter-offer. I'm really wondering if all the hotels are booked. Not likely hotel rooms would be freed up closer to the date right? Ideally my absolute maximum would be $138, which is the cost of the HOTWIRE Crowne Plaza after taxes and fees. If I were to get a hotel for less than that, that's a small victory. Are there any known hotels in the Syracuse University Area that is less than 3*? Even 2.5* or 2* I'd be ok with.
  5. Oh, I mean if I were to go a lower star rating, I probably won't have any free rebidding zones. That's a pretty decent price for the Crowne Plaza. Although I guess I will try to bid higher w/ PRICELINE then...
  6. Wanting to book 1 night in Syracuse for Sept 1, 2012, preferably 3.5* in the Syracuse University area. Previously won the 3.5* Genesee Grande for $70 and was pleased with my experience there. That was for the Canada Day long weekend (June 30). I've bid up to $90 using up all my rebidding zones and still nothing! Granted it's the Labour Day long weekend AND the NY State fair is going on. Any way to tell which hotels are sold out? I would go a lower star rating, but I'm worried I'll end up with a property in the surrounding suburbs. I'd really prefer central Syracuse. Any tips please? Thanks. :)
  7. Thank you for your assistance. Ended up pricelining a room instead for a cheaper price. :) Posted another thread in the PL forum.
  8. Used the PRICELINE links on this site, and got 3* Courtyard Marriott in Markham, ON for $51/USD per night, for 2 nights, Aug 3 - 5, 2012. Stayed at this property before and was pleased overall with my experience. Bid $50 (zone: Markham) - rejected Bid $51 (zone: Markham, Scarborough-Pickering) - accepted!
  9. Looking to book a hotel for a couple nights in that area to attend a wedding from Aug 3 - 5, 2012. From hotwire, I get a 3* hotel for $65/night (USD) in the Markham/Richmond Hill area. Amenities include: Indoor pool(s) Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center Laundry Facilities (self-service) High-Speed Internet Access Golf Nearby Tennis Nearby Free Parking From the Hotwire hotel list, it sounds like the above amenities fit a 4* property (esp with the Tennis and Golf amenities nearby). Any help would be much appreciated!
  10. Decided not to go with Hotwire afterall as there was a good deal on a travel group buy site for the Metropolitan that I took advantage of instead. Really appreciate your assistance! Will definitely be checking here next time I'll be travelling without the dog.
  11. Oops, yes, the 4* does feature spa services. And the 3.5* does feature free internet and high-speed internet amenities. You're correct I will be travelling with a pet, so I will definitely need to weigh out the chances. Just seeing what my options are currently. Thank you for your help!!
  12. Hi there, I'm looking to stay the one night on Friday May 18 and these are the results: Downtown Toronto West 4* $124 USD/night Fitness Center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business Center, High-Speed Internet Access 4/5 customer rating on Tripadvisor Compared to $199 on other sites Downtown Toronto West 3.5* $94 USD/night Free Internet, Fitness Center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business Center 3/5 customer rating on Tripadvisor Compared to $177 on other sites (From reading other posts, I think this might be The Metropolitan) Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks!
  13. OP did you book your hotel through hotwire? I'm looking for a hotel in Downtown Toronto West around the same time and curious to see what you ended up with. To add to the mix I have a pet and I'm taking a gamble and trying to make sure all the possible hotels do allow pets...
  14. Used the PRICELINE links from this forum for PL bidding. - initially bid 78, rejected, offered room for $99, declined - 80 (rebid Brampton) - 82 (rebid Burlington) - 85 (rebid Don Valley) <-- Accepted! So ended up with room for the one night for $85/night. Not as low as $76 that another member got, but not too bad.
  15. Bid at PRICELINE through links on this forum; got one night at 3* courtyard by Marriot in Markham for $51/night.
