First did a low-ball bid for $40 but they said if I increased by $12 I could try again so I just did that...Was willing to add a rebid zone but wasn't given that option but I am still happy with the outcome. This was indeed my first bid zone because I was thinking I would get the Doubletree like I had been getting in the past as a 2.5 star. The Doubletree (And the Holiday Inn) both offer free parking (something to consider for those of you bidding) and also its easier to park closer to your room compared to the 3* at the airport (Hilton & Marriott). You're right--It was a reported hotel and I know I stayed there before (this was in my pre betterbidding.com days) but didn't think that was a 2.5 star if the Doubletree was! But nontheless, it was still a great buy!

Wasn't expecting the Holiday Inn--have always got the Doubletree when I bid 2.5* at the STL Airport. This is a first for me. Check-In Date: Wednesday, July 6, 2005 Check-Out Date: Thursday, July 7, 2005 Hotel Name: Marriott Saint Louis Airport 10700 Pear Tree Lane St Louis, Missouri 63134 314-423-9700 Your Offer Price: $40.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $40.00 Taxes and Service Fees: $13.29 Total Charges: $53.29 I did bid $32 but it was rejected but was given a "One Time Offer" to raise the price by $8 to do 'greatly improve' (Or some wording along those lines) my chance so I just bid the $40 they suggested and got it--I am not in my penny pinching mood and I thought I would get the Hilton like I usually do when I get a 3* so I thought even $40 would not have been bad. This is the first time I got the Marriott.

I am actually going several times this summer, but in this case it will be from July 7 to July 13.

I am thinking about using Priceline to get a room in the Waynesville/St. Robert/Ft. Leonard Wood area but I am skeptical because I am unsure which hotel I may end up getting. The highest number of stars available in that area by P/L standards is a 2*. They do mention on their informative pages that a 2* is SIMILAR to a Ramada Inn and a Comfort Inn, both which are in the area. The Ramada Inn and Comfort Inn are on opposite ends of the spectrum--the Ramada is more run down. My question is does anyone have any suggestions as to which hotel it may be? Some of the other hotels in the area include Microtel Inns & Suites, Hamtpon Inn, Fairfield Inn, Baymont Inn, Dollar Inn, Red Roof, Econo Lodge, Holiday Inn Express and a couple of other places that I would consider "roach motels". Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks and I'll be sure to keep you posted as I am thinking about just getting a room for 1 night just to see what it is!

It didn't work this time (and as I mentioned in another post, I didn't read the re-bidding guidelines on here until AFTER) so I lowered the star and even added an area but did lower the price. I tried to edit this post so that I can correct the date which is wrong--The correct dates are 6/30/05 to 7/1/05.

There is a group I am with that qualifies for the group rate at the Westin but I balked at paying over $100 per night for a room but thanks to this awesome board, I was able to be pretty sure that if I went to Priceline and bid on a 4* in Southfield that I would get the Westin. Sadly, I did not read the re-bidding guidelines on here so I had to use alternative ways to bid LOL. First I bid $40 and it was rejected. Tried again at $45 and it was rejected and finally $49 was accepted but do keep in mind this is a holiday weekend. This is my first post on here so I hope I did it right :) I will do another post now for bid I did for my cousin!
