  1. I specifically asked ONLY for the Los Angeles Airport (LAX) zone and ended up here. Priceline is completely unusable for any concern a customer has. They do the standard bad "customer service" thing and answer questions with questions, they constantly interrupt and make excuses. You are essentially 100% out of luck if you have problems with a stay. Period. I have also contacted La Quinta, and they are similarly not helpful at all. They are going to supposedly "get back to me" at some point. If this issue isn't resolved today, and resolved satisfactorily, I will not be using Priceline again, and will be having my attorney handle the matter. I will also contact the California State Attorney General for assistance, as well as the state where Priceline is located. This should be a warning to all who use Priceline. It doesn't matter if you have used them for years and have only had one issue. They will not help you, except in only the most basic way.
  2. *** WARNING *** I was under the impression that I was getting a hotel in the LAX hotel area. But, this hotel is miles away from that. It is in the main part of Inglewood, which is a pretty sketchy area. I am not comfortable here, and I have had to go through some very rough areas in previous lines of work. There are people hanging out in the garage downstairs, cars stopping briefly and quickly going, etc. It certainly feels like drug activity I have seen before. I would definitely not want any of my family members here with me, and I am glad that I am by myself on this trip. Furthermore, the hotel has many issues. The air conditioning did not work in the first room. I had to spend three hours getting it looked at and getting a new room. I had actually shown up in person early in the day to request a quiet part of the hotel. I am instead surrounded by arguing families across the hall, and a noisy all-night family next to me. I am writing this at 3 a.m. with no change being made. I have called the Front Desk. I called Priceline. After going through all the details, the "Customer Care" lady said I was stuck here no matter what, no possibility of changing hotels, nothing. I was put on hold for a while, and was then told that I would have to call back during "normal business hours" and go through it all again because she couldn't get the hotel to answer the phone. This is definitely an AVOID hotel! As long as Priceline has this in their system as a possibility, I would not do a 2 /12 star in the LAX area. Period. Even though this hotel is miles from the airport, in an entirely different neighborhood from the LAX hotel district, it is still somehow included in the "Los Angeles Airport (LAX)" area. Once Priceline has your money, they have your money, and that's it. I am here for an important convention, have traveled all the way here, and am still dealing with in, with sun up only 2 1/2 hours away. Unacceptable.
  3. For anyone trying the Los Angeles airport area for next week, it could be difficult. I have been in probably the toughest fight I have ever had with PRICELINE this week. I finally went with a PRICELINE EXPRESS Deals offer for Socorro, NM for one stay. That was after numerous Name Your Price tries. The Express Deal was good, I must say! I am satisfied there. Hotel is Holiday Inn Express for $81/night. With the 2.5* in the Los Angeles airport area, I first tried $50 yesterday, then $60 today. The second time, it came back and said I could get a 2.5* for $89/night. I saw that there is a Wingate by Wyndham that is well regarded by TripAdvisor and Priceline customers. One issue with thinking about their $89 offer: One popular 2.5* hotel you end up with on PRICELINE is the Holiday Inn. They charge $15/day for parking. Ouch! I went directly to Wyndham's site and got the same approximate rate when staying three nights. There is no refund, but that is also the case on PRICELINE. Plus, I got a King Deluxe instead of a standard King. The standard is around $84/night if you stay three nights.
  4. One important consideration regarding any Wyndham property is this: They are independently owned and operated. In other words, you have zero idea what you're going to get. It is a roll of the dice. I have put up a friend at a Super 8, and it was a nightmare. This Wyndham property had its issues. I had someone with me on this trip, and she wasn't having a good day. So, after our argument, I left to go elsewhere, but I forgot my camera. She later decided to leave too, and took my camera with her. She told the front desk person that she had it, but wasn't handing it to that person. I personally believe the front desk person should have offered to keep the camera for me, or even been more insistent on trying to get the camera. I did pay for the room, and it was my camera. Plus, they do have security to help. I am working to get back the camera now. But at that time, when I got back to the hotel, which turned out to be shortly after this friend had left, the front desk person just seemed amused by the whole situation, and not caring at all. The front desk people at Wyndham properties are always the worst things about them. None of the properties are all that great, but the people the franchise owners insist on having up front seem to be very lacking in caring about the customers. I really don't want to stay at Wyndham properties anymore, no matter how much I'm saving. And, I wish Priceline had nothing to do with them either. If Priceline continues to do business with Wyndham, I should reconsider doing business with Priceline.
  5. EXPRESS DEAL This is a PRICELINE EXPRESS Deal, which Priceline has recently started. It is similar to the classic Hotwire strategy. You get to see the Star Level, location and price. On Priceline, you get to see how it does in terms of customer reviews. Listed directly in their search results. After conducting a search, click the Express Deals tab. The Holiday Inn Express includes the following amenities: * Free Breakfast * Indoor or Outdoor Pool * Free Parking I was told I got a 49% off rate. Currently, rooms run 98.80 at Best Available, 84.00 with AAA.
  6. Thank you for the good wishes! Copy that on the links! :) It will be interesting if more people post their experiences using Priceline's Express Deals. I'd say I'm 1 for 1 so far! As a pilot, staying at a Wingate made for our best hotel stays.

  8. We are staying at the Courtyard by Marriott on Third Avenue for one night during Labor Day Weekend. For informational purposes, I had made a number of bidding attempts before getting the winning bid: 1st: $100 - 3 1/2 Star - Midtown West, Upper West Side, Times Square, Central Park South, Hell's Kitchen 2nd: $110 - 3 1/2 Star - Added Midtown East 3rd: $120 - 3 1/2 Star - Added Madison Square Garden 4th: $120 - Added 3 Star - Won
  9. Holiday Inn Wall Street (51 Nassau) Okay, But Only If You Pay the Priceline Price! (*** out of 5) This is a reasonable little hotel. And, I would have given it four stars. But, as a Priceline customer, you do get treated differently at checkout. As in, get out! I have found recently that Priceline customers get the short shrift when checkout time comes. You won't be getting even a one-hour late checkout. Because, the housekeeping manager Will. Not. Have It! :-P Everything else was fine considering I got a King-Size Bed Room for $110/night as opposed to the $199/night regular price. The lobby is tiny, so are the hallways, and the rooms are small. But, it was quiet, and actually pretty nice. I really was pleased until I asked for that late checkout. I called the Front Desk, got the Housekeeping Manager instead, who gave me some kind of story about my room was booked for the coming evening. Of course, I don't think there was anyone else on my floor, but okay! So, I got ready to go on time, and 5 minutes before checkout time, the phone rings. I answer. Hang up! (The Housekeeping Chick again!). I leave the room, get in the elevator, and guess who's coming up to shoosh me out of the room? Yep! The Housekeeping Manager. In just a short period of time, my positive opinion of this place went south. Nice going! I hope I get a different place from Priceline next time!
  10. thereuare, I am really sorry! I am posting on Christopher's Topic instead of mine! Both of us got deals at the same hotel, and I viewed his Topic thinking it was my own. My deal was $110/night, but Christopher got it done for $100! As you can see, I am a "Newbie," so I guess the mix-up shouldn't be that much of a surprise! By the way, the dining suggestion sounds good! I will try it, and I am guessing Christopher might too.
  11. The room has one King-Sized Bed. I believe that this is the entry-level room for this hotel. It is usually priced at $199/night. To note, I re-bid for this room at least 6 times before getting it. I added locations a number of times, and then finally raised my price from $100/night to $110/night. The hotel is working out well. We are down in the Financial District, and are seeing more of a part of town that we usually only visit!
  12. Thanks to the Re-Bidding Guide here, I was able to get this deal! Thanks! One question, does it make that much of a difference if you try to book a hotel on the same day as you begin your stay? Priceline said that my options were limited because I was trying for a same-day bid. Thank you in advance for the replies!
