  1. Thanks! Yeah Im a Momma so I bring the kitchen sink!

We are renting a car anyway...

Basically my husband has NEVER been to Florida -- he has rarely been into the USA.. So like when we went to NY he just wanted to do the "tourist thing"

We are flying in and out of Orlando so Orlando- Tampa Bay- Naples- Miami- back to Orlando He wants to see what he sees on TV lol.

So im guessing that is miami beach? We are looking for nice beach and somewhere just to relax build some sandcastles.

Does that make sense? -- Also rather have a nicer hotel so that if the weather is crap we can do a lot of swimming etc at the hotel :) (LOVED the westin in Jersey!)

  2. OK, so looking at the links above and the areas would you say its worth spending the extra to stay on Miami Beach? I am a bit confused about miami beach is it like a wee island connected with a bridge or?

And if thats the case which it looks like is it better just to travel there and stay "main land"

  3. Need some help with this area, working my way through the holiday

Id like to stay somewhere easy to get to the beach or at least like Jersey city easy to get around if that makes sense?

any tips or prices at the moment I know I could get

Residence Inn Fort Lauderdale Weston for 45.00 per night but I dont know enough about the area or that location to know if its what I want.

Courtyard Fort Lauderdale Plantation for 79.00

    Any suggestions?

  4. Thanks I will start different threads -- Ideally somewhere central we will have a car so somewhere that I can easily get around or close walking distance to sights.

Price wise im willing to go 60-80 per night. I generally go PRICELINE -- our kid is small only a toddler so he shares a bed most days anyway I am willing to do one bed.

    prefer 3.5* +

  5. Ok so I think we are going to give Disney a miss because A) the cost of it is just crazy and B) because the wee man is only 2 almost 3 hes not going to remember it enough to warrant the 1k we'd have to spend.

I would still like to do some nice things with him so all suggestions welcome but here is a bit of a "plan"

    FLORIDA: January 9th - 17th 2012 8nights

    Orlando 9th - 11th

    Lego Land (during that time)

Tampa Bay 11th-13th -- is there stuff to do here?

Naples?? 13th -- I am just looking for a place to break up the driving-- if Naples isn't any good please suggest another place!

    Miami 14-16th

Orlando 16th (night before we take off.)

Ideally I would like to stay in a nice area - 3-4* would be good. Any tips or opening bids etc would be great!

  6. So I did Daytona when I was 17... and I drank some very good beer (or was that a simpson episode.. hrm) ANYWAY.

Im booking the family flying from Manchester UK to Orlando. I am a Canadian so I try to show them a bit of the States when I can. (thanks to all who helped with Jersey!)

    SO we are travelling

    Jan 9th-17th

thinking of doing a disney thing but choked when I saw the tickets were 430.00 GBP! (2 adults one child whos just under 3 at time of travel!).

Any ideas? wouldn't mind staying and doing a disney thing for a couple of days but would maybe like to do a Miami thing for the beaches?

Suggestions open I know im in good hands :)

  7. I just stayed at the Westin last week-- word of the wise DON"T eat there... For breakfast you can go behind the hotel there is a grocery store with a dunkin donuts... OR there is a FAB deli well 2 actually one near the path station-- and one in the mall beside the hotel. There is also an amazing Cuban restaurant for late meals.

if you want a lil treasure in NYC, head over to BEACON restaurant (chef Waldy malouf) he has a book and is very very good. All summer he has on his 35.00 3 course menu its FAB the oysters are to die for.!!! 23 W56

  8. Hiya, I thinkthis is how we want to play it... Night of the 19th (day before we leave) in the city for the experience, like I said my husband wants to take a photo of times square, do the WTC thing, and see the statue.. and some shopping what area for hotels should we be looking at? Id like something with some comfort.

Some hotels I know of but im not sure about their location: (if you have any insight that would be fab!)

HI NYC Wall street right now that rate is 173.40

    HI SOHO- 233.00

But im hoping to use priceline to get something better.

    Any suggestions?

As for the night before the 18th we are worrid about driving from basically Canada to Jersey what the traffic etc would be like maybe we would be best to stop somewhere outside and travel in the next day? --- Thoughts?
