  1. Used the HOTWIRE link to search for my hotel stay. Based on a couple previous HOTWIRE bookings, I was sure it was going to be another 2.5 star hotel in that area, but alas, it was the Comfort Inn. Not bad for the price, $65 CAD. Amenities listed were: Free Parking Free Breakfast Free Internet Pet friendly Fitness Center Business Center Self service laundry Accessibility
  2. Used PRICELINE link to begin my search in Express Deals. Ammenities listed were: Free Breakfast Free Internet Indoor or Outdoor Pool Free Parking Have stayed here before, it's fine. Good location and there's a Starbucks in the Hyatt Place across the street. As a side, I will not use PRICELINE Name Your Own Price for this area anymore, as I have won the Best Western Sterling Heights too many times, it is a disappointment.
  3. La Quinta Amenities: Free Parking Free Breakfast Free Internet High-Speed Internet Access Happy with this Win and location. I have not stayed at this particular hotel but am very familiar with the area. Used the HOTWIRE link to begin my search. Thanks!
  4. Pleased with this PRICELINE win considering the prime location!
  5. Oops, made an error in the heading, not cetain how to edit this. Won this hotel for $51. Bid for a 2.5* hotel, as I did not want to win this 3* Best Western Sterling Heights, still got it. It is too far away from M-59 area for which we visit Utica. At least it was a great price!
  6. Thanks! Just 1 room, 2 adults, but you're right, that option was gone from HOTWIRE not even hours later. After a little more research, I think it may have been the TownePlace Suites by Marriott. I will keep looking. Cheers!
  7. Appreciate any help trying to identify HOTWIRE listing for 2.5* Utica Area hotel. Ammenties: Suite Smoke Free Rooms Pool(s) Business Center Laundry Facilities (self-service) High-Speed Internet Access Kitchenette Free Parking Free Breakfast Cheers! Erin
  8. Thanks for the reply! I haven't booked with HOTWIRE yet. The rate that I stated was actually $11.95 per day, but once the fees & taxes are added, it translates to $22 per day. When I began the Name Your Own Price with PRICELINE, it stated that there was a good chance at $16 per day and a better chance at $17 per day. I tried $12 per day. Their fees & taxes were more than 20% when I bid at $12 per day. Def better than retail, anyways! I appreciate the input!!
  9. I understand that this hotel charges a $10 Resort Fee at time of check-in, making this a $99 night. Still pleased as we were getting nowhere with PRICELINE for that night. Amenities: Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center High-Speed Internet Access
  10. I have been doing some car rental research for a vacation in the Phoenix area. As I have never rented a car before, I wanted to be sure that the Best Price on Hotwire is indeed a great deal. Picking up & dropping off car at the Airport, $22 per day ($157 total), including taxes & fees, unlimited miles. Priceline's Name Your Own Price, doesn't seem to compair with Hotwire - the service charges are higher. I appreciate any input - 'thumbs up' or 'hold-out for a better price'. Cheers!

  12. Have never stayed at this hotel, usually book a 3* in this Zone, however the last 3* win was the Best Western, Sterling Heights and it was quite a drive from where we like to eat & shop. Looking forward to it, good reviews on the Holiday Inn Express.
  13. Thanks for the reply. Date is Friday March 2, 2 star hotel in Birch Run, MI. Tax rate in MI is 6%. We have used Name Your Own Price in Michigan, Illinois, Ontario (13% tax rate) a lot, and the Taxes & Service Fees always hovered around 18%, that was pretty consistent with all my past bookings. When inquiring with Priceline, they simply referred me to their standard jargon. When I "recruit" friends to Name Your Own Price, I would advise that they should count on adding an extra 18% or so...perhaps that's not accurate and it varies up to 31% or even higher! Other than State or Provincial Sales Tax, I don't know what the other factors are...
  14. I am currently trying to Name Your Own Price on a Birch Run, MI hotel and the Taxes & Service Fees are totalling 31% as opposed to the usual 18%. What's going on? Anyone else experience this?
  15. Signed up for Priceline 3* hotel bid alert and received daily alerts that a 3* was won at $50. Tried for more than a couple of weeks (and using the re-bid technique adding Warren neighbourhood) in the range of $50 - $58 and getting impatient, bid at $60 and won the Courtyard Marriott Utica.
  16. Won at $70! Bid for a couple days only. Earlier today, I bid $65 - $77 (using re-bid zone technique). Tonight, my husband on his own Priceline account, bid $70 right away and got The Wit A Doubletree. Excited! :) First, I'd like to say how helpful this forum has been, thank you. Sounds like AaronJB knows Chicago pretty well and I wonder about parking as I understand that it can add anywhere from $25 - 55 to a night. The Wit's parking is $46 per night, any chance of obtaining something cheaper close by? We won't be using the car during our 3 night stay?
  17. Started at $70 for a 4 star in Downtown Detroit, winning bid for 3 rooms at the Westin Book Cadillac was $115! That's definitely the most I've ever paid on PRICELINE, but still >$100 cheaper than retail price.
