  1. Used your PRICELINE link, it's quite possible (and likely) that a considerably better price on this property is possible for tonight. I had been targeting midtown, thinking maybe the Helmsley would accept one of my bids, so I was bidding on 3.5* and not including Downtown-SoHo in most of my searches. I may have even forgotten to ever bid $155 and may have jumped straight from $150 to $160. My bid of $160 was also the first time I included Downtown-SoHo. So, long story short, if you want to get the Millenium Hilton tonight, definitely start bidding way lower than me.
  2. I used your HOTWIRE link to make this search, might see if these two accept a lower bid on Priceline if I can ID 'em... $219 3* Chelsea - MSG -- fitness center, restaurant, business center, internet $267 3.5* Midtown Central -- smoke free rooms, fitness center, restaurant, business center, internet Thanks
  3. I don't recall what I did exactly because I did so many searches. I was starting out in MTW and MTE, adding CPS and all the areas around in order of proximity to midtown. The last ones I'd add would be Upper Westside, Upper Eastside, and SoHo. So I'm pretty sure I had most of Manhattan covered when bidding $190 and I was leaving out maybe some of those last three. I'm pretty sure I tried bidding up to $190 with both 4* and 3.5*. Anywhere in Manhattan is acceptable, 3.5* or 4* would be ideal but 3* could work too. One thing I did with my 3.5* and 4* searches is I'd run through some lower bids once and then I'd do them all over again (continuing to slightly increase my bid from where I left off) but including Long Island, under the assumption that there are no 3.5* and 4* hotels there, so as to not have to wait 24 hours.
  4. Alrighty, I've clicked on it; I'll continue using this link for my subsequent searches as well.
  5. I'm new here, looking for tips for finding something nice anywhere in Manhattan for 6/20 thru 6/23. I've tried targeting the Sheraton Hotel and Towers, the Helmsley, and the Hudson, and haven't had any luck bidding as high as $190 late last night. Are there other properties I should be looking to target? (By target I mean start with my low bid around them and add other zones as I increase my bid slightly.) I'd be willing to go down to 3* I suppose, but I do like having the option of room service. I wouldn't really want to spend over $150 on a 3*. I'd be willing to pay up to $200 for a 4* or maybe even a 3.5*, but I'm still hoping to find something considerably lower, as I have every other time I've booked a hotel in NYC through Priceline.
  6. I'm in NYC 6/18-6/23. I was doing a lot of bidding late last night for the whole stay while looking at this forum, targeting this hotel, the Helmsely, and also the Hudson a bit. I wasn't successful in getting 4* for up to $190, nor 3.5* for up to $150, nor 3* for up to $130 so I wound up deciding to break up my stay. I got these first two nights of 6/18 and 6/19 for $130 + $31 fees per night which I'm happy with, but now I'm trying to figure out some deal for the last three nights and I think I need some help. For 6/20-6/23 I tried targeting this Sheraton for as high as $225 and it didn't get accepted (I also tried to get it for just Monday 6/20 night for maybe up to $190 and no luck there either). I wasn't able to get anything targeting the Helmsley (3.5*) nor the Hudson (3.5*) on 6/20-6/23 for up to $190 either. I'm looking at some of the wins on the Priceline - NYC calendar for these dates and seeing a great win on Le Parker Meridien (4*) for $130 many months ago, but it's clearly not accepting bids for anywhere near that anymore since I've been including CPS in many of my bids. Any tips on things I should try? I don't per se have a budget but I don't like getting ripped off, I guess nobody does. =) I guess I should specify I'm not too concerned with what zone I end up in the last three nights, but it has to be in Manhattan and the closer it is to midtown, the better.
