Hotwire had 4 1/2* hotels for $92, 4* for $78. Tried $75 on PRICELINE and got the very nice Drake Hotel!

It was Hertz.

Hotwire had $13.95 for a weeklong rental on a midsize SUV. I tried $10/day on Priceline, and it was accepted.

Offered a 4 1/2 * hotel in O'Hare area on 9/2 for one night. I took it. It was the Hotel Intercontinental. Not bad.

Put $13/day for a weekly rental of a full size car at Charleston (S.C.) Airport--$153.11 total with taxes. It was accepted! The car is from Hertz. A bid for $19 was rejected yesterday, but I saw Hotwire hot rates for most cars up to full size dropped by over a 1/3 from yesterday, so I thought I'd try this. It worked! :)
