  1. Really needed a place for the night... couldn't get an accept at an affordable price for anything 3* or over... finally went to 2.5 and got the Fairfield Inn Virginia Beach Oceanfront. Great price for this place... We're here now and very satisified. Wonderful ocean view! Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $42.00 Subtotal: $42.00 Taxes & Fees: $13.54 Total Charges*: $55.54 I did try this at $38, rejected.. went up to $42, accepted.
  2. No one else has answered, so I'll give this a guess and say Camelback. It has "slopeside", and is located in Tannersville. Shawnee is located in Shawnee, Shawnee on the Delaware, or may even list as Delaware Water Gap or Marshall's Creek.. but definately not Tannersville (probably at least 10 miles away).
  3. Went back and forth on the dates originally. A family emergency delayed the trip by a week. *3.5 Hampton, VA Crown Plaza Hampton Marina 7/27 - 7/31 (so glad I added a day!) 4 nights No trip advisor ratings shown. When I searched it, it has 4 out of 5, 17 reviews. Amenities: Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center High-speed Internet Access Golf Nearby Tennis Nearby Thereuare correctly guessed this hotel about a week ago. It's not yet listed in the hotel list for Hampton. I am VERY happy with the purchase! An awesome price for a hotel that sounds great!
  4. Thank you AAron. The Crowne Plaza would be good.. but I understand the guessing there. I don't think I'll get a better deal for a *3.5, and $70 is really the top of my limit. If it's still there, I'll probably take it by morning.. and I'll let you know what it was.
  5. We are going to Busch Gardens, pretty flexible with dates, and the exact place we stay since we will have a car.. and will be going to the beach anyway. We are going to DC on the way back to PA.. but if we need to we can always go to DC first. Idealy, leaving the 19th would be best. I could leave as early as 16th, or as late as the 23rd. I've been switching dates for a while now.. I have not been impressed with any of the 3* hotels in the hotel list.. as a matter of fact, a couple of them scare me! CLEAN and SAFE are most important, I travel with my pre-teen daughter. I found this *3.5, but can't even give a good guess as to which property it is.. any help would be greatly appreciated! 1A/1C Shows *3.5 at $70 if you add 2C it goes to $74... but no TA rating:( 3.5-star hotel in Hampton 7/22-7/25 amenities: Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center High-speed Internet Access Golf Nearby Tennis Nearby
  6. Maybe I was too late.. I can't find another hotel with the same amenities by changing occupancy .. I did find what i think is the same one, without the highspeed internet icon, for $59 when I put in 2a 2c.. but no tripadvisor review. I've changed to 1a/2c, 2a/1c.. whatever combos i can think of:) I would rather know the property was well reviewed. BTW, I should have mentioned my search is for 1A 1C.. myself and my daughter, but of course any variation that gives the best property at the best price is exactly what my reservation is for... I still have time so I'll keep checking. Looking for a property at least 3* hopefully below $70 per night... in that area. Doesn't have to be right in Busch Gardens, though that is where we are going. I will have a car, I can travel a little for the right price. TIA
  7. July 19-July 22 $60 Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Laundry Facilities High-speed Internet Access I couldn't find it on the list of hotels. What else can I do to try to identify it? TIA Autumn96
  8. Sorry:) Fitness Center Pool(s) . Restaurant(s) Laundry Facilities High-speed Internet Access Golf Nearby
  9. I did a search and this seemed a pretty good price for a 3* for this area, even though the reviews aren't great (I was about 99% sure which hotel it was beforehand). We only need one night while we visit Hershey park. Most of the reviews complained about the service.. we wouldn't be needing much. Clicked through the HOTWIRE link here. I did try PRICELINE, bidding $42 for Harrisburg East for a 3*, then a rebid adding Hershey (only listed up to 2.5*) for $48, and didn't get accepted. For $8 more I just took the hotwire. Thanks for all the helpful info here so I have a clue of what I'm doing. Autumn96 Ok.. OOPs.. how do I edit the title? For whoever edits it... It's for Central Harrisburg 3* Wyndham Garden Hotel $56 07/07-07/08
  10. Actually, I believe I clicked on the word HOTWIRE.. your link in your post below my first post. I did go back and forth several times (timed out).. but I'm pretty sure that was how I accessed it at the time of purchase. Do you not get credit from the savingsbarn.com site? I thought you did.. I hope I didn't do it that way. I will remember to go through the links here in the future. I might be hotwire-ing a rental car if I can get better rates than the codes I'm using now. Thank you for this site.. The information is invaluable!!
  11. After spending the day searching for good airfare, I cut down the dates due to airfare was half the price if I left 2 days later.. I just added 2 days to the end of my stay. I will be staying at Disney's Port Orleans FQ from 6/19 now to 7/3. So my new dates for Hotwire are 6/13-6/19: The change in dates didn't effect the price.. still $83 for a 4* I did get the Peabody. I did many searches (I was assuming it was the Peabody) and the lowest average nightly room rate I could find for my dates was $133.70 (Hotels.com), so I was very satisfied with getting it at $83. It doesn't seem too kid-friendly for my dd(10), but I figure she'll have 2 weeks at a Disney Resort afterwards, and the Peabody does look like a beautiful hotel. Check-in date Wed, Jun 13, 2007 Check-out date Tue, Jun 19, 2007 Adults/Children 1/1 1 room(s) @ $83.00 per night x 6 night(s) $498.00 Hotel subtotal $75.19 Taxes, recovery charges, and fees $573.19 Total Some hotels may apply additional charges for incidental fees such as parking. Prices are in $USD. $573.19 I did remember to use Savingsbarn.com :)
  12. I didn't know breaking up the stay might change the rates.. I'll try that too. I will remember to use the link too... I'll let you know if I decide to take it. Thank you.. Autumn96
  13. I just wanted post this since savingsbarn was used and someone may benefit from it. Just want to add that I was not the one doing the actual bidding. I was down in Philly and decided to stay the night with my DD VERY last minute. I called her computer illiterate father and had him just type in savingsbarn, then the PRICELINE link and stepped him through the bidding process (oh, it was fun <--- enter sarcasm here) :) So it went like this. 2.5 star hotel Date 4/21-4/22 Bid $35 downtown Philly - rejected added University bid $37 - rejected added Cherry Hill bid $42 accepted. I was satisfied.. cheap place and just wanted a place to sleep the night. However.. I didn't know it was in Jersey (he neglected to notice this until he got the name of the hotel..lol). But it was very close to the Adventure Aquarium we were going to first thing in the morning anyway. I'm so glad I wasn't able to read the reviews on this place.. they are terrible! It would have worried me. We were fine. Had room 444-4th floor. Room was clean. Airconditioning loud but not terribly so. Staff VERY friendly and helpful. Of course we pricelined this place pretty late, then had dinner out, so we really only slept there.
  14. Ok.. I can only find one hotel listed as a 4 - Star for this area, the Peabody, is this correct? I've used priceline before, never hotwire. amenities: Fitness, pool, restaurants, business, internet, tennis $83 per night 6/11 - 6/19 I know the rack rates.. I haven't searched for better rates. Is this a good deal? TIA Autumn96
  15. Just returned from Great Wolf Lodge. It was supposed to be the last day of their Christmas specials. The lodge was decorated very nicely. Big snowflakes and lots of lights. It's atomosphere is cozy even though it's a large entrance area. When we arrived there were hardly any lines at the check in desk... when we left it was mobbed! There was no real line formation, everyone was everywhere. There were no hotel personal there to direct anyone. There's a small store, prices as expected for a resort. We purchased a couple of things and the cashier person tried to walk away from the counter. I asked " is there someone here to take care of this", and he answered rather rudely "there will be in a minute". Another worker heard him and told him to take the register and she stood next to him. He was apparently new. She never said one word to us, and the only other thing he said to me is "cash or credit." He never made eye contact at all.. and never said 'thank you' or 'have a nice day' or anything. Terrible service. There are supposedly 3 restuarants, unless i was missing something I could only find 2. We had intended to have a late lunch at thier Camp Critter bar and grill. It's supposed to be a bufffet. We didn't know they were closing early to set up for the special New Years Eve dinner, but ok, we had a small snack and waiting until 3:00pm and made it an early dinner. Now, noone had told us a price... noone handed us a menu. There were no signs outside the restuarant to tell us the buffet items or price. And, we did go over the the gentleman taking reservations and were told by him because there were only 2 of us so early we didn't need them. He never gave us prices or menus either (we were taken in about 3:10 with no need for reservations) The menu sounded impression with their Prime Rib in bourbon sauce, Filet mignon, Stuffed Sole and just about anything you can want in finer foods. I figured it would be about $24.99, the same as the Christmas buffet as I was told by one of the staff members. We asked for a table that overlooked the waterpark, but were told that was for 5-6 people... none sat at them the whole time we were there, I don't see why we couldn't. If I started now and wrote for another 10 pages I couldn't begin to tell you how BAD the food was. The prime rib was way over cooked, and I asked for a center piece! No taste whatsoever. I tasted no bourbon sauce at all. The sole was stuffed with what tasted like simple bread cube stuffing. Even the crab legs were over cooked and dried out. Every sauce on the buffet was crusted over. My daughter only ate the mac and cheese. Her hamburger was hard.. the chicken fingers very dry. I tasted many things and the only thing I can say was good was the lobster bisque. The desserts were barely ok, the cookie my daughter tried to bite fell from her hand from mouth level it chipped the plate! Ok, maybe it just hit the plate the wrong way.. but it was a big cookie and it was hard. All the food was horrible. The service was ok as the server was very friendly, when she showed up. There had to be about 6-7 servers milling around and only 3 tables with people, yet we always had plates waiting to be taken from the table. What an experience. What did I pay for this experience? A very reasonable $9.99 for my daughter, and an incredible price of $39.99 for me!! Wow... I couldn't believe it. I do plan on emailing their customer service though I'm sure it will do no good. The water park is impressive, all indoors. But it was DIRTY! trash and towels everywhere. Yes, I know it's a busy time of season, but I have never seen anything like this! I love Disney World and go at least once a year, and even at the value resorts I have never seen trash all around the pool areas! You would never see it at a Luxury Resort... and Great Wolf is luxury resort prices. Cheap rooms mid week are $250 a night. There's a nice sized arcade..but everything keeps breaking down. At any given time 3 of the 6 token machines are broken and the ticket counter machines stop working constantly! It took 3 machines to finish counting our tickets because they kept breaking. The staff do constantly walk around the arcade trying to keep everything going though. It was snowing while we were there. It would have been really nice to have an outside area for the kids to go and play in the snow other than the parking lot. The one play area outside with a small outside pool was closed. So the only 'outside' there is is the parking lot. Great Wolf is pretty... but not enough going on to keep you interested for more than a few hours. The rooms are nice.. housekeeping spotty. The staff is either very friendly or couldn't care less. The food is horrible to the point of being scary! For an average of $324 a night... go anywhere else!
  16. My daughter and I stayed here from June 21st to June 29th. We were coming from the Animal Kingdom Lodge and expected a let down, so we were prepared. There wasn't much need to be. We found the hotel with little problem and didn't expect the size of it. It was a lot bigger than I had thought it would be. Our car was met immediately at the front entrance by the bellman asking if we were checking in (and there were other cars there also so the prompt service was nice). No Valet parking ... would have been handy for at least one night I could think of. We left our bags to the bellman and went to check in. Check in was pretty quick. I did try asking for an upgrade, but was told there were only pool views for $10 extra per night... no thanks. I actually don't like pool views because with balconies or sometimes even through closed windows, it can be pretty noisy at night. There were no balconies at this hotel, which I didn't realize at the time. I thought the website showed them. I checked to be sure that the room prices were correct. I had some problems with booking online which I detailed below. We drove to where the parking was closest to our room, around the back of the hotel. I guess technically we had a parking lot view... but we also had a very nice view of a pond with a fountain. Very pretty. The bellman had beaten us to our room. He was very friendly and happy to share any tips for the area or Hotel information. The room was a nice size. 2 full sized beds. Upholstered chair, table with 2 chairs. A very LARGE round mirror on the wall facing one of the beds...lol. Mini-bar... not for personal use so I rented a refrigerator for $5.35 a night. From the time I called to order it, to the time it got to my room was about 15 minutes! Plenty of room for it too. The bathroom was a nice size and marble, but the door was.... wrong? You needed to step inside the bathroom on one side of the toilet to close the door to get to the tub. I didn't like that the door covered the tub when opened because when my daughter bathes I like the door open. It wasn't a small bathroom, but that door was awkward. Very nice simple decor overall. All looked new and updated. Kids eat free at the Radisson, but we only ate there once for the breakfast buffet. It was good, but not outstanding. A nice touch is that they make omlettes to order right in front of you while you wait. I didn't have an omlette though. The food was good enough, hard to ruin a breakfast, but the croisants could have been sara lee. Not very good. A bit pricey for a breakfast buffet, $11.99, but considering my daughter was free it was a good deal (the Holdiday Inn Nikki Bird's buffet is much larger and only $6.99, and kids eat free. No made to order omlettes though:) ). Be careful with tipping at the Radisson. They do add 15% on to the check already and have another spot for an extra tip. They have a VERY pricey counter service. Water was more expensive than at WDW. Pizza hut counter, and Starbucks machine. Handy if you forgot something... but save a bundle and go to Winn Dixie when visiting downtown Disney. They have a "service" counter in the lobby where I was told to go for directions (to the outlets).... the woman told me I could get very cheap theme park tickets. I told her I have annual passes and she said I could get $50 back. I smiled and said not interested. At least it wasn't much pressure, but I was firm so maybe that's why she didn't even try. I was very surprised to find a desk for soliciting time share in the Radisson lobby. The pool area is really beautiful. A large free form pool with a slide and waterfalls. This is the main pool. The bad part is it's not heated. My daughter enjoyed herself.. but I couldn't get used to the water and stayed poolside. They could use more seating.. and twice while we were at the pool they ran out of towels. Walking around the main pool to the smaller, supposedly heated pool (still too cold) is a very nice walk. Waterfalls falling into small pools of water... beautiful rock formations (I think real.. though not sure), and a jacuzzi with a waterfall. The jacuzzi was too hot! Unlike Goldilocks I was unable to find a water spot that was just right. But my daughter swam around like a fish with no complaints. I'm a wuss. Let me say that the Radisson is on RT 192... but you'd never know it. It's set back and the grounds are beautiful! That pond we have a view of has some very large fish (don't know what kind) and some turtles that my daughter would feed from the bridge that goes over it. There were other ponds surrounding the Hotel too. The first morning, I woke sneezing.. a lot! I have allergies to mold and mildew. When we opened the door to the hallway, there was a very strong smell of mildew. I don't know why I hadn't noticed it before... maybe because it had rained hard during the evening it became more noticeable. We were on the top floor and while walking through the hotel noticed that the sections not on the top floor had no ordor. I went down to the front desk and told them of the problem. The woman asked if I wanted to have someone go up and 'check'. What that meant I didn't know. I said you can if you like, but I want my room changed to one not on the top floor. I was given a room on the second floor of building 5000. There were two floors above us and no smell whatsoever. I did remain a bit sneezy on and off our whole time there though. It was bareable as I have to bear it some times anyway. I mentioned the problem to the peson who moved our refrigerator for us and he said, yeah... I don't blame you. Others had complained too. I hope they get rid of that problem because the hotel is really pretty nice otherwise. I didn't have the sneezing problem at all at the Nikki Bird Holiday Inn nor at the Animal Kingdom lodge. Housekeeping was good. Plenty of towels. They make your bed when you leave the sign on it to do it. They didn't vacuum daily though. There were some little things that were still there when we returned at the end of the day. My daughter did get sand on the carpet and I'm glad to say that night when we returned it was vacuumed up. Average service, but no complaints. Room service was prompt and the food was hot (important to me). The pizza hut was the same price as the take out counter downstairs(plus tip).. that was nice. The other menu items were only slightly higher than the restuarant it seemed. They had a workout room that was well lit with new equipment. Nice size too. Parking was a problem if you came back late. I had to park very far away one night at midnight.. with my very sleepy cranky daughter.. in the rain. Otherwise you can park pretty close to your room as the lots went around the hotel on 3 sides. My overall impression of the Hotel is that it's a very pretty setting with an exceptionally pretty pool layout (if you're not picky like me and want bath water). The rooms are spacious and very nice. Beds are comfy. Bathrooms very nice. I think it's a reasonable price at the 87 & 97 a night.. I got a great deal at the prices I paid with the price guarantee. I would visit this hotel again asking for a room not on a top floor. I did find that the desk clerks ( the 3 in all I talked with) weren't overly friendly at all. Not checking in, not when I wanted a room change, and again when I was confirming my goldpoints number. They never smiled, though they were polite enough. The housekeeping were also less than friendly. I would smile and say hello, and they would barely respond... no smiling. And yes I did tip daily! All the other service people were very nice and were friendly. I think this is rated as a 3*? It definately makes that rating, could even be a *3.5. Here was my price guarantee problem: Radisson has a price guarantee of 25% off the lowest rate found. I emailed it in and got a confirmation of the lower rate, but no % off. I called and was told that was the price I booked on their site! Not so... good thing I took a page shot of the reservation. Radisson site prices were 107-3 nights & 117-5 nights, the other site was 87 & 97. They told me to email the page shot to them... and I waited for a response... and didn't get one. I called back.. noone knew what anyone was doing... Now I had not 1, but 3 reservations! and they were all at the lower rate without the 25% off. I called the corperate office and was put in contact with a wonderful rep named Mary. She contacted the hotel (after looking at my reservation she also saw 3 bookings!), and said the person in charge there said my "match" was for one of their own websites and it didn't count. I told her that it was not their website and Hotels.com also had a lower price which she verified (she agreed that the original site didn't seem like their website either). She told me not to worry she would get it straightened out in the morning with the manager and my prices would be correct. I was leaving the next morning on the 14th, but wouldn't be to the Radisson till the 21st. And as promised she called me as I got to the airport. She said the manager had been off since early afternoon the previous day and didn't know of my problem. He changed my prices to reflect the 25% off, and cancelled my extra rooms (whew). She was a wonderful help! I plan on emailing Radisson to compliment how friendly and helpful she was. Anyway.. final prices for the room were $65.25 & $72.75 . I have yet to receive my goldpoints for the booking (and 1,000 point bonus for booking online). I thought I'd give it some time to show up. Does anyone know how long it usually takes?
  17. I used the Car Rental Checker here and found a company called EZ Car rental. It was by far the lowest rate for MCO area. I think originally it was $243. for a midsize for the 15 days I was there. I kept checking the site and the price got lower so I would update the booking. My final price for the 15 days (&1 hour) was $203 & that includes all taxes and such. The service was great.. I was right in and out. They had a nice shuttle to and from the airport. No pressure with purchasing insurance as I had put no insurance on the reservation. I did have to bring proof of my own insurance though. It was clear on the reservation and I was prepared. I don't know what kind of proof I would have needed to bring if I was relying on my credit card. I do carry a platinum, but didn't use it. I've never even checked into it to see if it covers rentals. The car was brand new of course.. but not my favorite. A PT Cuiser Touring Edition (sorry to all those pt cruiser owners/lovers out there). I could have had them rewrite the paper work and get a cavalier.. but it didn't make that much of a difference to me. Return was quick easy and friendly. The return shuttle prompt. There were 3 other sets of passengers but it took me right to my airline, not to a common drop off point. I was the first off, but I'm sure he did the same for the other passengers. I would recommend them to anyone. Of course I've only had the one experience with them, but a very good one!
  18. My 8 yr old daughter and I stayed here June 16th -June 21st. I had booked a standard view room with annual passholder rates. I couldn't do the extra $75 a night it would have been for the savannah view. I asked for an upgrade at check-in, and with a big smile towards my daughter, I was given a really nice savanah view room on the 3rd floor. I thought it was the perfect floor. Not too low so you could see the full savannah, and not so high that you're not practically face to face with the animals. It's nice to know that though I was using discounted rates I was still given a very nice upgrade. We arrived at 11:30 am.. our room was ready and we were shown to it right away! I thought I'd have to store my luggage until 4:00. I had our swim suits in my napsack so we could use the pool while we waited, but there was no wait! This resort is rated very highly and rightly so. There are a couple of complaints below, but nothing that would keep me from staying here again. The resort itself is so beautful! Check in was quick. The room was immaculate and very roomy. 2 queen sized very comfortable beds, table with 2 large comfy chairs, 27" tv, coffee maker, refrigerator, bathroom adequate (not very large, but not too small) with outer double sinks. Balcony with two chairs and a table. They give you a check list of the animals you may see so you can keep track. My daughter got busy right after she stopped crying (see below). She was amazed and sat out on the balcony happily trying to figure out which was a wilderbeast and which was the something cattle..lol. I don't remember what they were, but they were big. I did recognize the zebras and giraffe though:) There was almost always some animals walking around when we looked out the window. Housekeeping was very good and so friendly! Always a big smile with a hello as you pass in the halls. They are willing to come in anytime at all, just spin your "do not disturb" sign around to "make my room". They made little animals out of towels as some of the housekeeping at WDW do (they didn't do it at the Coronado Springs though). Lots of towels, everything replaced daily (coffee, towels, soaps/shampoos). Everything was clean and sparkling daily. There are viewing areas all over the hotel to see the animals if you don't have a savannah view. Pool area. Very clean! The water is wonderfully warm like bath water! The slide is nice, though suprisingly not as as nice as the one at Coronado Springs (a moderate resort). Not as long or as interesting. CS has a cheetah or some large cat spitting water at you as you pass under it. Plenty of towels and a nice cabana type place for drinks (though I had no alcoholic ones since I was alone with my daughter....sigh). Lots of seating, some shaded areas.. tables with unbrellas too. Easy access to the Mara (counter service) for quick snacks.. they have an arcade right there.. and they have daily childrens activities/crafts. Actually the whole resort does! (My daughter especially loved the time she got to use night vision googles so she could view the savannah at night). We ate at the Mara (counter service) a couple of times. Average prices for WDW (which means a bit high), the food was pretty good, fast and convenient. We had the African dinner buffet at their full service restaurant Boma. WOW! Great service and the food was wonderful! I tried as much as possible without exploding.. different salads, meats, sauces.. all wonderful! They aslo had traditional things such as prime rib for the less adventurous. This is a not to be missed restaurant. Valet parking was very convenient and only $7. I think very reasonable. We used it a couple of times when I was too exhausted (lazy) to go park myself. Parking was convenient only if you got there early enough and got the parking area in front of the main entrance... otherwise it was a bit of a walk. We were on the Zebra trail overlooking the Arusha savannah. We were nicely convenient to the pool area (just an elevator ride down) with the Mara and arcade there.. and only a little walk to the lobby. So that was nice. If you're on the other end of the hotel though it's probably quite a walk to the pool area, but a slightly shorter walk to the outer parking lot since you can enter the hotel by a couple of side doors with your room card. I can't say enough how beautiful and wonderful this resort is. All over the resort there are cast members available to tell you about the animals you will see there. They were all very friendly and informative and we loved the whole experience.... Ok.. the cons now: When we first entered the room and were waiting for bell service to bring up our bags, my daughter looked towards the balcony and saw a pack (herd?) of Zebras passing. In her excitement she ran to the balcony without opening the sliding glass door. She bounced off the glass like a cartoon character. It was hurricane proof or maybe she would have walked through it. She had a very nasty bump on her head that, even after quite a while of icing, was still prominent. The bellman came just after she hit the glass and got some ice for me. He said that it was a common thing that happened, and once a rather rowdy boy had even broken his nose running into it. If this is not uncommon, then why doesn't Disney put a more noticeable sticker... or frost the glass in some places? There is a sticker that says not to feed the animals, but it's pretty far to the right and is easily hidden by the curtains. Not a fun begining.. but it still didn't spoil the magic for my daughter of seeing all of those animals right there at her window. The only other thing I have to complain about was contacting the front desk. I was in a non smoking room, and it seemed that the whole section was non-smoking as all of the rooms had the designation on the doors. The first day in the evening time when I was getting some disney dollars at the front desk I inquired if smoking was allowed on the balconies. I was told it was not.. not even in the smoking rooms. I told them that someone was smoking on the balcony 2 down from ours and it was disturbing because when we sat out there the smoke came right in our faces. We had to go inside. It happened several times that day. They said that when it happened I needed to call the front desk so they could approach the guests as it was happening. It happened daily and often, especially in the morning when I would like to sit out to drink my coffee and my daughter her hot chocolate. I tried calling the front desk at least four different times without getting through.. once for more than 20 minutes being on hold! I did visit guest relations again and told them it's impossible to reach them by phone. they have the room number of the other guests and nicely informed them that smoking was prohibited anywhere in that section, and prohibited at all balconies and public areas at the resort. This was after 3 days, but it did stop. They seem to have a well staffed front desk as large as it is.. I don't know why I couldn't get through. The person I spoke with finished my sentence when I told her I tried calling.... she said, "and you couldn't get through". So it seems to be usual. Oh, and before we left we ran into our neighbors in the room right next to ours.. they had complained about the smokers too. It must have been worse for them being right next to them. I wonder if the resort would have called them directly like that if I had been the only one complaining. This complaint is only about not being able to contact the front desk... not about the smokers. I know the hotel can't totally control the rude people smoking on the balconies. It is stated in the rules not to do that.. and if you're in a non-smoking section.. the other guests are not smoking and don't want to be subjected to it while relaxing on the balcony. This resort is a wonderful experience... the savannah view is awesome. I don't know how we could stay here again without one, but of course getting an upgrade like that was good luck and availability. It's worth the extra if you can afford it. My passholders rate was $155 per night (taxes and fees included). I believe the savannah view was $224 before taxes and fees. Well worth it.... I will be staying here again next year for as much of our 2 weeks as I can manage to afford.
  19. Me and my 8yr old daughter stayed here June 14th-16th. I asked for an upgrade and was told, by the barely friendly check in person, that the only upgrades were the kids suites which weren't an option. In all fairness she must have been having a bad day because our 2 other encounters with her she was very helpful and friendly. We were assigned room 263, parking lot view. With the curtains opened all you saw were trees, so it didn't matter. When I entered the room I noticed an odd smell.. almost like moth balls. It wasn't really strong, but definately there. I have bad allergies to mold/mildew and the smell didn't seem to affect them at all so that was good. I did notice that when the air conditioner was turned off that the smell pretty much disapeared. The room and bathroom were clean. The room was a bit too dark with the lightning they had. Refrigerator was clean and kept things very cold. Didn't use the microwave, but what a nice extra in a room! I also noticed there was no sprinkler system, but they did have fire alarms. One of the full sized beds had a queen sized mattress on it... I thought that wasn't a good thing, but my daughter thought it was pretty neat and didn't want me to call down to change it. I warned her to be careful as she might roll off it (she never did), and reported it when we checked out. Since we were there only 2 nights I chose not to have housekeeping as I'm a pretty tidy person. So I can't comment on housekeeping except to say it was neat and clean when we got there. We ate at both the Angel's diner and the buffet while we were there. The kids eat free program would be great for a larger family (though it was nice for just us too). They allow 2 kids to eat free per paying adult. My daughter loved the breakfest buffet, and the lobster buffet was pretty good too. Kids eat free if they're not eating lobster or crab, and they have plenty of other stuff to choose from. The Angels casual diner was basic and food was ok too.. reasonably priced. We did not use the pool facilities but we did pass them and they looked clean. They were usually crowed. Overall it was a basic hotel, clean enough and no major complaints. It wasn't a bad stay, though it wouldn't be my first choice of places to stay. For the $38 per night I paid through priceline it was a good deal. It may be better suited to families with more than one child just for the savings on food alone. A nice thing to mention.. my daughter really liked the breakfast buffet and asked to go back our second to the last day in Florida (that would be the 28th... so almost 2 weeks later). The cashier at the buffet remembered us and started to take off my daughter's portion of the bill. I told him were were no longer staying at the hotel and only came back for the buffet. He was very friendly and took her portion off anyway. I thought that was really nice of him. This is rated as a 2.5* hotel and I think pretty accurately.
  20. Dates 6/14 - 6/16 first bid disney world vacinity $32 countered with $9 higher ($41) added winter park $35 added florida mall $38 accepted. I'm happy with the price.. mixed reviews, but it does seem kid-friendly. It's only 2 nights. I won for the disney world vacinity, but the address is Kissimmee which I didn't bid on.. anyone know where this is? Kissimmee is fine anyway.. close enough since we're renting a car. I feel this mighta been destiny.. my daughter's name is Nikki :) I think we'll like it there. Edited: Oops.. didn't put the dates in the subject.. don't know how.. maybe someone can change that for me. I'll be trying for the dates of 20-29 tomorrow (added another day to AKL so I have one less day to worry about).
  21. dates June 19th - June 29th Disney World @ $55 added Florida Mall $61 added Maitland $65 added Orlando Airport $68 added Orlando East $72 yes.. low for resorts. I'm not quite at my limit, but if I couldn't get it cheap I'm not sure I'll go this way. . I'm a bit afraid of getting the Gaylord Palms when I'm at my limit. With the resort fees and parking fees (wasn't there another fee also?)... it may put me over by alot since it's a 10 night stay. Is the fact that I'm bidding for 10 nights going to be difficult? Would I be better off splitting the time? Between the 14th and leaving on the 29 I will be changing hotels twice.. one more time might not be so bad. If I have to do that then hopefully I can convince my daughter that it's an adventure.
  22. Thank you! I want a nicer hotel for my longer stay.. but for the first 2 days I thought we'd make do. The airfare was better on the 14th (for a direct flight), and since we have annual passes, the extra cost is really only food and the hotel (and whatever souvenirs I can't get out of my daughter's clutching hands). I will post when I get a winning bid. Thank you again :)
  23. As stated in another thread, I needed accomadations for June 14th -16th for Orlando (along with a longer stay (19th -29th, I haven't tried yet and will probably use Hotwire). I was planning on making it a cheap stay and bidding through priceline for a 2 or 3* hotel. When I went to bid, remembering a post where someone got the Hyatt grand cypress for only $50, I decided what the heck and bid for a resort for those 2 days at that price. I didn't expect to get it, and I didn't (I tried $55 also using only one freebid zone). Now going back to my original plan of bidding for a 2 or 3* for much less, I realized that I don't know if I can do that and lower the amount of my bid. I am stuck waiting the 72 hours to try rebidding? If I am stuck waiting, can I use someone else's credit card to rebid with, or must the same person who bids also check into the hotel? Help?
  24. Thank you for the nice welcome:) I'll need a bit more time to look and probably more help :) When I decide, I will be sure to post both the outcomes (different threads). Thanks again
  25. Amenities: Shuttle Restaurant Pool Fitness center Tennis nearby Business Center Laundry $59 per night (10 nights, 6/19-6/29) Could this be the Radisson Crown Plaza? I'm very new to this... WHERE IS THE link to HOTWIRE ON THIS SITE?? I just went straight to the website, but if I purchase I'd like to support this site. This seems like a great price to me.. is it? I will also be needing a reservation for the 14th & 15th... I will then be changing to the Animal Kingdom logde for 3 nights. I plan on making those first 2 nights really cheap and will probably priceline for a 2 or 3 star. Thank you so much for this site.. I was able to get my whole stay's rental car for only $229 for a midsize through e-z rental. I paid more than that for only a weeks rental last nov/dec. I'd never heard of e-z until I used the car rental checker here. I'll check back tonight hopefully for some help. Thanks in advance..
