  1. Bid $38 for 3*,rejected, asked to raise $12

Re-bid, adding Downtown Philadelphia for $40, knowing there would be nothing accepted in that area, rejected, asked to ad $11

Re-bid, adding Glouchester area for $42, knowing there are no 3* in that area, ACCEPTED.

    Hyatt Place

    8000 Crawford Place

    Mount Laurel, New Jersey 08054

Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $42.00

    Subtotal: $42.00

    Taxes & Fees: $13.56

    Total Charges*: $55.56

Cheapest online rate is $98. Sounds like a great hotel with free breakfast and great reviews.

  2. Be careful if you think by betting on a 2* or 2.5*, you will get a property with free parking and maybe free breakfast, I thought that and Priceline thought they did me a favor by accepting my bid and "upgrading" me to a 3*, this happened twice in this area. Now I supposingly get a better hotel, but with all the nickel and diming, especially parking. If you want a 2 star, better to book it directly, you will know what you are getting. I booked the LaQuinta in Costa Mesa with my AAA rate for $44.00, includes free parking and breakfast. Nice hotel also.

  3. I too had booked, on 2 occasions 2.5* hotels in Costa Mesa, only to be "upgraded" to 3*, both of which nickel and dimed me for just about anything, parking the worst. I ended up parking in a residential area and walked 10 minutes. Now I just book on my own. I recently booked a LaQuinta with free breakfast for a AAA rate of $44.00. I think a lot of these hotels use PRICELINE because they know when people book directly and find out about those fees they don't book it.

  4. You can probably do a lot better in Bangkok using one of the Asian Online Hotel Reservation sites such as Asiarooms.com or Agoda.com. I have gotten very good deals from these places. A bonus is you know the hotel and if you cancel, you only forfeit a small amount. The Amari in May can be had on Agoda for only $68, about the same as PRICELINE, they charge less "taxes and fees". Plus you can cancel and not be charged the whole amount.

  5. Stay is September 1-2, 2008. I just discovered this hotel charges $14 a day for parking, could have booked a cheaper hotel in Anaheim area. If you don't want a surprise parking charge, avoid the Costa Mesa-Irvine area. I originally booked a 2.5* hotel and Priceline did me a "favor" of upgrading me to a 3*. This happened to me last year in the same geographic area. Usually a 2.5* will include parking, free internet and even breakfast. A 3* will nickel and dime you for everything. Plus some of the reviews for this hotel are not too favorable. The good thing it is for only a day, but for someone winning this and other hotels in the area for several days, it could ad up. Priceline should let the bidder know about these charges, that they can substantially increase the cost of the hotel.
