  1. Dates added to other thread. I had the same problem--it wouldn't let me search for Vieques. But when I entered Fajardo, Puerto Rico into the search box (as I mentioned in my initial post in this thread), the Vieques hotels came up.
  2. Got it. Followed up on my previous thread, clicked the links above for searches, and will make sure to use the links here for future searches and bookings. Thanks!
  3. We did not stay in the Sheraton. We ended up going to Maui instead, due to a low price that we were able to get through bidding on Priceline. We ended up getting the Maui Hyatt for $145/night.
  4. Hi, I have a question about a Vieques Hotel on Hotwire with the following amenities: 4.5* Pet Friendly Accessible for the blind Accessible for the deaf Accessible path of travel In-room accessibility Wheelchair accessible Accessible bathroom Handicapped parking Roll-in shower 4 stars on Tripadvisor I have a feeling this hotel is the W Vieques Resort and Spa (the "other sites" price matches exactly and their are only a few hotels on the island). [by the way, I had some trouble searching for Vieques--instead I searched 'Fajardo, PR' and this hotel came up. I see that it hasn't been reported.] I have found this hotel for a 6 day stay in August (Aug. 19-25), with a price of $139.00/night for 6 nights (marked down from $251), and a whopping tax & recovery fee of $521.73, for a total of $1355.73. My question is the following: this hotel, if it is the W, normally charges a resort fee of $60/night. The Hotwire listing makes no mention of a resort fee at all. Every time I have used Hotwire in the past to stay at a resort charging a fee, it has stated that a resort fee would be charged on the Hotwire listing. It would seem that the high price of the taxes and fees for this particular booking would perhaps somehow include the resort fee--that would explain why the taxes and fees would be so abnormally high. But this is just a theory--I am not sure that this is the case. If I book this hotel, and no resort fee is mentioned anywhere on the Hotwire site, can I rest assured that the hotel will not charge me one on arrival? Have you ever seen a resort fee incorporated into a the taxes and fees category before? Thanks!
  5. And to confirm, it was a 4* and not resort right? That is what the text seems to say but the revised title of the thread still indicates otherwise.
  6. Did you mean the Westin Maui Resort and Spa or the Westin Kaanapali Ocean Resort Villas? If the latter, then the title of this chain has been changed incorrectly, and this would represent not a reclassification of the Westin Resort and Spa, but a previously unreported win (the Ocean Resort Villas) in the 4* category. Please clarify.
  7. The Sheraton is a 3.5 star hotel on the normal price side of the PRICELINE site. Does that mean it must also be a 3.5 star on the Name-Your-Own-Price side? They are now going to be reopening the hotel in phases, starting in mid-July. They had offered free breakfast during the renovation but have removed that. The hotel won't be fully re-opened until October, however. I was wondering if the hotel is 3.5-star on the visible side of the site (which it is, even for later dates), if it must also be on the Name-Your-Own-Price side. I know that the Hyatt is available on Hotwire for the dates I want at $227/night. I was hoping to bid $150-175 for the Hyatt (but am not interested in staying at the Sheraton).
  8. I am curious right now about bidding in the Poipu area on Priceline. I have stayed in Poipu before and am interested in bidding Priceline for the Hyatt. For dates in mid-August, if I bid only Resort level in Poipu, do I have any chance at getting the Sheraton? My understanding is that the hotel is under renovation and may have been temporarily downgraded to a 3.5 star level on Priceline for this period. This seems like a good opportunity to go for the Hyatt, which is normally not really available through bidding Priceline because the Sheraton is cheaper than the Hyatt. Can anyone confirm that this strategy will work (i.e. if I bid for resorts in Poipu during this period I won't get the Sheraton)? Is the Priceline star level through the visible price part of Priceline site the same as the star level for Name-Your-Own-Price for a given hotel?
