  1. Just like Las Vegas, resort fees are almost unavoidable in NYC, just about every hotel now charges them! As well, rather than focus on a hotel that does not charge resort fees, i would suggest instead focusing on the total cost, as you are better of with a $40 hotel that charges a $40 resort fee vs. a $100 hotel that does not charge a resort fee. My suggestion would be this hotel from hotwire: 4* HOTWIRE SoHo - Tribeca for $52 Boutique hotel Smoke-free rooms Restaurant(s) Internet access ==> Arlo Soho While this property does charge a $35/nite resort fee, you're all in price would be $419 which is still well below your target budget and the hotel gets good reviews. While not exactly in midtown, it is near two different subway stations that can get you close to the filming of the Daily Show (well, as close as a subway can get you as there is not really service along 11th Ave) as well as to points in midtown. If you wanted something more centrally located i think you would likely see the price go up substantially (probably $100+ for the trip) and the hotel would not be as well reviewed. Thoughts on this property / option? Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. PS- i did find this from Allianz which is the insurance company that is sold by Hotwire during check-out: (emphasis added by me)
  2. No official 'blanket-wide' cancellations yet, as far as i know... although i suspect there is some case-by-case cancellations taking place behind the scenes. Here are some comments i made a few days ago relative to 'will prices go down further as a result of coronavirus': Are you just coming for the one nite of March 26th or is this the first nite of your multi-nite stay? If i were in your shoes how much of an outlay would play somewhat of a factor in my decision making... if just for one nite and my outlay was $100 i might make the decision to book now and take the chance; if it was a 4-5 nite stay i wouldn't be wiling to roll the dice as much. This is one instance where resort fees may actually help... if you buy a hotel room for $40 with a $40 resort fee and you don't show, you're only 'out' the $40; they don't collect any resort fee on a 'no-show' reservation. Also, depending upon your credit card you may have some sort of insurance through them... although whether this insurance would cover an instance such as coronavirus would require a thorough reading of their terms of the insurance (or at least a phone call to customer support). I will add that rates are reaching crazy levels... 4* hotels with great reviews in NYC starting at $40/nite. If you'd like us to have a look at some of the offers please confirm the full dates of your trip and we will advise accordingly. Also, are you looking to make this a 'budget trip' so looking for something acceptable as cheap as possible... or are you looking for a value trip for something high-end that is at a price that has never been seen before? Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. Let us know the above and we'll take it from there.
  3. Congratulations on your success! Looks like a nice deal, hope you're happy with the results and this works well for your plans. Thank you for sharing your win with the board. Please click the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Enjoy your stay.
  4. Welcome to BetterBidding! We're glad you're here... and you'll be glad you're here too, as we take the guesswork out of HOTWIRE and PRICELINE EXPRESS. One key bit of information missing from your post above is your budget, as that will more likely be the deciding factor as far as what type of hotel and star rating you shoot for. Assuming you know the area a little and the name of some of the hotels that you are hoping for, i would start as follows: 1) use our BiddingHelper.com tool, enter your location and dates, and click the search button 2) once the results are shown click the HOTWIRE EASY VIEW tab (or the PRICELINE EXPRESS tab) and on the left side of the page filter the results to only the zones that you are interested in and are nearby the entrance to Disneyland 3) within each of the results hover your mouse over the 'SEE MATCH from HOTEL LIST' button and the likely name of that hotel will be shown If you're not familiar with the area, you may also want to open another browser tab to MAPS and HOTELS.com, enter the address of Disneyland and you'll be able to see the hotel names that are in the immediate area near the entrance... these are the names of the hotels that you should be hoping to see within the BiddingHelper.com. Does this get you started in the right direction? If you see something that is of interest let us know and we can confirm the hotel ID, or if you're still at a loss let us know your expected budget (per nite before taxes/fees) and we'll have a look as well. Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases.

Enjoy your stay.
  6. Congratulations on your success! Glad to see you were able to adjust your trip to less expensive dates and that you are pleased with the outcome. Thank you for sharing your win with the board. 7. Congratulations on your success! Nice to see you received the hotel you were hoping for and that it was even lower than you originally expected. We're glad you were able to utilize the current Hotwire Coupon for even more savings. Thank you for using the HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your purchase and sharing your win, helping us confirm this hotel for the Cancun Hotwire Hotel List. Enjoy your stay.
  8. Happy to help and thank you for 'closing' with your decision... let us know if you want us to have a look at anything else for any future trips. Keep in mind our current Priceline Coupons also work for pre-paid stays that are rated 3+ stars and for stays that are 2+ nites, so that could be an option as well if there is a specific hotel you wanted to book.
  9. I assume the above is a 5 star and these are the amenities named (as per BiddingHelper.com): 5* HOTWIRE Playa Mujeres for $282 Free parking Free breakfast Free internet Near beach Free food and drinks A la carte dining Free water activities Smoke-free rooms Free entertainment ==> Excellence Playa Mujeres Adults Only All Inclusive ... or is it a PRICELINE EXPRESS property you are referring to? Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. Let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help.
  10. Congratulations on your (friend's) success! Kudos to you for treating your friend to a few nites of luxury... i'm sure they'll be quite pleased with the stay. Thanks, we're glad to hear you like it... please help spread the word about it to others you know who use HOTWIRE / PRICELINE EXPRESS. Thank you for sharing your results and using the HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your purchase. Hope your friend has a great time!
  11. Welcome to BetterBidding! It's never easy to know with any high degree of certainty if it's better to book now or if rates will come down closer to check-in date. The push that would imply higher rates is that this is peak season in NYC... the pull that might suggest lower rates is that travel is currently slowing on account of coronavirus. I think you can find the best of both worlds with this offer from Hotwire: 4.5* HOTWIRE Rockefeller Center for $175 Smoke-free rooms Fitness center Restaurant(s) Business center Internet access Accessible for visually impaired Accessible for hearing impaired Accessible path of travel In-room accessibility ==> Warwick New York This is a well reviewed hotel with a location just north of Times Square. This makes it very easy to walk to Times Square without having the crowds of Times Square itself right outside your hotel door each time you leave/enter the building. As well, there are multiple subway stations and lines within a few block walk in any direction that can easily take you just about anywhere in the city you want to go. We currently have a Hotwire Coupon that takes 7% off which brings this to $245/nite on an all-in basis, just $5 over your target budget. This is a 'clear winner' in my option vs. the other offers (from both PRICELINE EXPRESS and HOTWIRE)... there are other hotels that are acceptable that can save you $20/nite, but relatively speaking in think the Warwick is worth the extra $20 as it should give you everything you're seeking. Does this one work for your needs? Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. Let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help.
  12. Unfortunately nobody can say if rates will go down, move higher, or the offer disappears entirely over the next few months. Hotel pricing uses a forecasting model so it's likely that current pricing is already factoring in some level of weakness. So the question is whether fear is at it's peak right now and things will not be as bad as hoteliers think (and rates will move higher) or will travel slow to a trickle and things will get worse (and rates move lower). If anyone really knew if things are at their worst right now and will improve vs. if things will deteriorate further from here, there would be better ways to profit from it than just the savings on this hotel room ... but unfortunately nobody knows what to expect in the nearterm (and thus the wild swings of the stock market last week). Wish i had a more concrete answer for you, but at the moment nobody can say with a high degree of certainty.
  13. You're welcome... hopefully you can make it work as the reviews look AWESOME! Here is a link for the same hotel but for 2 rooms (if you need links for more than 2 rooms let me know, otherwise if each person booking on their own can all use the same link above) Let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help.
  14. Congratulations on your success! Glad we were able to assist and that you received the hotel you were hoping for. Thank you for sharing your win and using the PRICELINE links on the board to begin your purchase. Enjoy your stay.
  15. 5* Playa Mujeres (confirm your dates on the landing page) for $352/nite with: Fitness Center Airport Shuttle Free Internet I agree with this guess. Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. Let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help.
  16. Do note that this latest one does not include a Shuttle (which you previously listed as a want/need): 3.5* HOTWIRE Central Harrisburg for $83.31 Free internet Indoor pool(s) Smoke-free rooms Fitness center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business center Golf nearby ==> Crowne Plaza Hotel Harrisburg - Hershey Some others that seem to fit your budget and include a Shuttle: 3.5* Harrisburg (<-- CLICK HERE and confirm your dates on the landing page) for $68/nite with: Free Parking Pets Allowed Fitness Center Airport Shuttle Restaurant No Smoking Rooms/Facilities Free Internet Indoor or Outdoor Pool ==> Sheraton Hotel Harrisburg Hershey (i know this was the original hotel you asked about but this one is a few dollars less so i listed just in case budget was a major factor in your decision) 3.5* Harrisburg West (<-- CLICK HERE and confirm your dates on the landing page) for $53/nite with: Free Parking Pets Allowed Fitness Center Airport Shuttle Restaurant No Smoking Rooms/Facilities Free Internet Indoor or Outdoor Pool ==> Radisson Hotel Harrisburg 3* Harrisburg (<-- CLICK HERE and confirm your dates on the landing page) for $62/nite with: Free Parking Fitness Center Airport Shuttle Business Center Restaurant No Smoking Rooms/Facilities Free Internet Indoor or Outdoor Pool ==> Holiday Inn Middletown - Harrisburg Area All of the above were researched with the new feature of our BiddingHelper tool: 1) search at BiddingHelper.com 2) click the HOTWIRE EASY VIEW or PRICELINE EXPRESS tab 3) hover your mouse/click the 'FIND MATCH from HOTEL LIST' button ==> most hotels should be identified with our best guess Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. Let us know what you decide and how it goes or how we can be of further help.
  17. You're welcome. Let us know how else we can help or how you decide to proceed and we'll take it from there.
  18. So searching for MAY 15-17 is going to be a bit more troublesome due to your weekend dates. Searching for 1room/4adults on HOTWIRE the least expensive 4 star hotel is Tropicana at $153/nite (before taxes/fees) so you can figure that is going to be closer to $200 all-in. So something is going to have to 'give'... either star rating, location, or budget. Dropping to 3*/3.5* doesn't really help much as most hotels on the strip are 4 star or higher (i did have a look and dropping star rating doesn't really help you much). Usually there is some 'outlier' that offers a pretty good deal and just not seeing it for these dates, so i dug a little deeper and i see that there is a 37K person convention that starts on May 17... most attendees will arrive (at least) the nite before and that is probably contributing to the high rates we're seeing for your dates. I assume you're locked into these nites, and if it's possible to reschedule would any Sun-Thur nites be an option, as will likely save you at least half. Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. PS- and i apoligize again if i got your hopes up on the earlier dates when i was accidentally searching for March
  19. Sorry about that, I just double checked the dates and i was searching March 15-17.... now i see that it's May and these are weekend dates budget will be more difficult. Give me 5-10 minutes to search for the new (correct) dates and i'll reply to this thread.
  20. Few things to keep in mind: -in Vegas many hotels charge extra for rooms with 2 Queen beds (vs. 1King) so as far as 'room only' cost you may not save that much (or anything) if you're including 4adults in your search (which also presents an issue for using PRICELINE since they only guarantee double occupancy) -most hotels charge resort fees that range from $40-$55/nite so that could be a factor when considering 2 rooms vs. 1 room since your resort fees are going to double (although see the Linq option mentioned below) So these are your best options, imo, along with our best guess for each: Searching 1room/4adults: 5* HOTWIRE Center Strip - Grand Canal Shoppes for $92 Free parking Free internet Resort Suite Casino Fitness center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business center ==> Palazzo... all-in (after taxes, resort fees, etc, etc) you're about $330 (although our Hotwire Coupon takes $10 off so really about $320) and worth extending your budget, imo, for this truly 5 star hotel Searching 2rooms/4adults: 4* HOTWIRE Center Strip - High Roller Promenade for $29 Pet friendly Boutique hotel Casino Fitness center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business center Internet access Spa services ==> The Linq which comes to about $301 all-in (including resort fee for both rooms) You could also do 1room/4adults at the Linq for about $250, but if you don't typically (or ever) get to stay at a 5 star hotel i would spend the extra money for the Palazzo. Not only do you get to experience a 'true' 5 star hotel, but the rooms here are oversized which be much more comfortable for 4guests vs. a 'standard' hotel room. Your thoughts on the above? Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. EDIT TO ADD: we will keep all posts for this trip in this thread. If you ultimately use PRICELINE (which i don't recommend for your situation based upon the occupancy issue i mentioned above) we can move the entire thread to that section of the board.
  21. Welcome to BetterBidding! Few things to clarify in order to get started... Are you looking for one room for the four of you or two separate rooms? You're not going to find any 'on-strip' hotels that have a free breakfast (if that is what you were referring to). Almost all casino hotels on the strip have buffets, but they are not included in the room rate and are additional. Using a ballpark number breakfast is usually about $8-12/per person, lunch $14-$22/per person, dinner really depends upon what is offer and can be anywhere from $14-$45 (the higher end having things like shrimp, crab legs, etc.) First and foremost let us know regarding the occupancy (1room/4guests vs. 2rooms/2guests each) and we'll be able to take it from there. Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases.
  22. Yes, please continue this thread. Is there anything in particular you are looking for in a hotel for this trip? What is your maximum budget? 23. For this offer: 3.5* HOTWIRE Central Harrisburg for $74 Free parking Free internet Pet friendly Indoor pool(s) Airport shuttle Smoke-free rooms Fitness center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) ==> Sheraton Harrisburg Hershey Hotel is the best guess Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. Let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help.
  24. Congratulations on your success! Glad to see you found a work around to avoid the hotels in the zone that you don't want while targeting the one that you do want. Thank you for sharing your win with the board. Enjoy the rest of your stay.
