  1. OK, thanks for closing this thread with your decision. It would still be appreciated and helpful to others if you posted your previous HOTWIRE win. Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. Have a great trip.
  2. It would be helpful if you could post your win (as a NEW TOPIC) so others are aware of this hotel recently being one (as well for anyone that is able to travel during the same timeframe as you). Assuming this was purchased thru HOTWIRE, we could also use this information to compare to PRICELINE EXPRESS for the same dates to perhaps increase the confidence of the priceline deal above. Just keep in mind that both could disappear at any time. Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases.
  3. Welcome to BetterBidding! For this offer: 4* Walt Disney World - Bonnet Creek (<-- CLICK HERE and confirm your dates on the landing page) for $286/nite with: Indoor or Outdoor Pool Restaurant No Smoking Rooms/Facilities ==> although i'm not 100% certain, i feel 'pretty good' with a guess of the Animal Kingdom Lodge Not sure of your risk tolerance, but i do see a HOTWIRE offer for $326/nite which i have more confidence in being the Animal Kingdom, but don't know if you prefer the less expensive/increased risk of the one above vs. the more expensive/less risk of the HOTWIRE offer. Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. Let us know your thoughts (or how it goes if you take the offer above) and how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there.
  4. 1) as previously requested, it would be appreciated if you started to share your wins/purchases with the board so that others can benefit from the information, just as you hope to benefit from those who have posted before you. To only come here to ask questions and not share your wins/experiences makes the board less useful for everyone as well as goes against the 'spirit of the community'. 2) in regards to your question above, it is industry practice for a hotel to put a 'hold' on your credit card. It is up to each hotel to determine the amount they will put on hold, and $100 is certainly within 'industry standards'. The amount put on hold has nothing to do with how you booked, the star rating of the hotel, or the amount paid... hotels indicate that this is to cover incidentals, which it is, but it is also to cover themselves in the event of any theft or damage to the room. Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases.
  5. Welcome back! This one is super easy, imo, as i would jump on this one: 5* The Strip - Northeast (<-- CLICK HERE and confirm your dates on the landing page) for $87/nite with: Free Parking Pets Allowed Fitness Center Airport Shuttle Casino Restaurant No Smoking Rooms/Facilities Free Internet Indoor or Outdoor Pool ==> The Palazzo Resort is our best guess here Excellent rate for this property and in the Caesars area that you want to be (Caesars is a HUGE property so the Palazzo/Venetian area very close to the northern end of Caesars, it's a moderate walk to the southern end of their property) Does this work for your plans? Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. Let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help.
  6. Congratulations on your success! Great to see you scored a great deal that works out perfectly for your plans! Thank you for sharing your win with the board and helping us update the New York City Hotwire Hotel List with the new name for this property. Please click the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Enjoy your stay... and the parade!
  7. How about any of the following (along with our best guess for each): 4.5* Madison Square Garden - Convention Area (<-- CLICK HERE and confirm your dates on the landing page) for $182/nite with: Pets Allowed Fitness Center Business Center Restaurant No Smoking Rooms/Facilities Free Internet ==> Crowne Plaza HY36 4.5* HOTWIRE Times Square for $168 Complimentary Breakfast Free Internet Pet Friendly Smoke Free Restaurant Business Golf ==> Sanctuary Hotel NYC 5* HOTWIRE Times Square for $196 Pet Friendly Smoke Free Fitness Restaurant Business Hi-Speed Internet ==> The Michelangelo Hotel 4.5* HOTWIRE Central Park South for $214 Pet Friendly Boutique Indoor Pool Smoke Free Fitness Pool Restaurant Business Hi-Speed Internet ==> The Parker NY Although the Crowne Plaza HY36 is probably my favorite hotel of those above, note that (from what i have read) there is no viewing from 34th-38th St since this is the official 'telecast' area so you would need to walk a little north before cutting down to Sixth Ave to view the parade. Any of the above work for your needs... for the most part they are all highly rated (or as per my previous post directly above you can use our BiddingHelper.com tool to further research and identify other offers that are appearing for your dates) Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. Let us know what you decide and how it goes or how we can be of further help.
  8. Have you looked at what (the new feature) of our Bidding Helper tool indicates? 1) search using BiddingHelper.com 2) click the PRICELINE EXPRESS tab (or the HOTWIRE EASY VIEW tab if using that service) 3) hover your mouse over the 'FIND MATCH in HOTEL LIST' button --> best guess will be revealed as well as 'regular retail rates' for hotels of that star rating in the zone and also hotels of the same star rating in the zone that have already been reported to the board The above should work for most PRICELINE EXPRESS and HOTWIRE offerings. Just saw your dates (missed that when i saw your 2nd message) so i'll have a quick look and respond again....
  9. Congratulations on your success! Glad to see it worked out well and as expected (and that you like the new BiddingHelper.com feature!)... should be a very nice stay at this well reviewed hotel. Thank you for sharing your win with the board. Please click the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. The tide will continue to turn... at the beginning of every season my daughter has visions of grandeur and expects us to head to the playoffs which usually results in tears after our first loss, but i'm a bit more patient. Have a great trip and fun in London.
  10. Which day(s) do you need... just the nite of Nov 27 or something different/longer than just this one nite. A few other questions as well: 1) you do realize that although you may get (very) lucky and get a room that faces the parade, there is no way to guarantee that this would be the case (and not something that you should expect) 2) given #1, if you ultimately intend to watch on the sidewalk but just want to be close to the parade route, is something that is 1-2 blocks off of the route acceptable or do you need to be directly on the parade route? I did have a quick look at rates for just 11/27 and prices are surprisingly relatively affordable given that this is usually a very expensive nite, but i was mostly looking at 4.5*-5* that would be near the parade route and not necessarily directly on it. Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. Let us know the information above and we'll take it from there.
  11. Better to narrow the likely outcome down to 1 instead of 3: 1) Search using our BiddingHelper.com tool 2) in the HOTWIRE EASY VIEW tab hover your mouse over the 'FIND MATCH in HOTEL LIST' button 3) the best guess for the hotel will be given at the top of the top of the box that opens (along with 'regular rate' hotel information for hotels of the same star rating in the zone as well as hotels that have previously been reported to the board in this zone)... this is a new feature that we are quite proud of (although being a Michigan fan the last few years we sometimes have to grasp at straws to find something to be proud of ) So the short answer is that the $122 for what appears to be the Parkcity London. Also available (you can check using the same method as above or ask questions if you're unsure) which i don't think were offered yesterday when we had searched: Copthorne Tara Hotel London Kensington for $97/nite (reviews not as good as the Parkcity but i mention since it's about $25 cheaper) or 4* HOTWIRE Westminster Bridge - London Eye - Vauxhall for $114 Free Internet Smoke Free Fitness Business ==> Marlin Aparthotel Waterloo As well, for today only, there is a Hotwire Coupon for 10% off. Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. Let us know what you decide and how it goes or how we can be of further help.
  12. Even through traditional booking channels, it looks like on-site availability is low and prices are high... not a good combination for 'choosing' the hotel you want at a deeply discounted price. What looks to be the Dolphin is offered for just $133/nite: 4* HOTWIRE Walt Disney World - Bonnet Creek for $133 Resort Smoke Free Fitness Pool Restaurant Business Hi-Speed Internet Golf Spa Given how high rates are elsewhere maybe you can make this work for your needs at this price, but other than this, do you see any options (even through more traditional booking channels) that meet your needs and budget? Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases.
  13. With HOTWIRE there is no bidding... you pay the (discounted) price that the hotel is being offered at; it's just like PRICELINE EXPRESS (if you have used that side of Priceline's service) The 'problem' is that you can't necessarily use the HOTWIRE rate to choose your bidding amount since: 1) the HOTWIRE hotel may not have the same star rating on PRICELINE 2) the HOTWIRE hotel may not be in the same zone on PRICELINE 3) the HOTWIRE hotel may not be available through PRICELINE ... few other 'in-depth' reasons too but the three above should be enough to explain some of the challenges. So you can use the HOTWIRE price to determine a maximum bid (since any higher you might be better off just taking the HOTWIRE offer) but you can't necessarily rely on being able to undercut it by bidding. As well, you probably wouldn't want to bid on Hotwire in this situation (even if they did offer this service) since you apparently like the Mercure better than the Russel Court, and since these are both 4 star hotels that are in the same zone, there would be no way to target the Mercure while avoiding the Russel Court. However, also to add, i'm no longer seeing the Mercure offered when searching for your complete stay... although i am now seeing The Parkcity London (in the Kensington - Shepherds Bush - Westfield London zone) for $122/nite which gets good reviews should this also work for your needs. Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. Let us know your thoughts and we'll take it from there.
  14. Congratulations on your success! Nice to see you were able to get something very affordable for this nite and that this satisfies your needs while in the area. Thank you for using the PRICELINE links on the board to begin your purchase and sharing your win, helping add add this hotel and amenity set to the Indianapolis Priceline Express Hotel List. Enjoy your stay.
  15. I'm not sore sure $100 is going to do it (since the lower price is seen on HOTWIRE and you're currently bidding on priceline), but to give it a try: When bidding 4 stars in the London area you have currently have SIX re-bid zones available. If you're not familiar with re-bidding, see Priceline Re-Bidding Explained... Select 4* The City, Westminster, Kensington, Mayfair Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $88, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $93, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $98, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $100 I would first try your complete set of dates, then if rejected try: 12/10-12/15 12/11-12/16 12/10-12/14 12/12-12/16 12/10-12/13 12/13-12/16 Any questions feel free to ask. Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. Good luck and let us know how it goes.
  16. To confirm, your trip is really for 6 nites (12/10-12/16) but you're willing to split into two separate purchases? If the above is accurate is 12/10-12/14 and 12/14-12/16 the only way that you're willing to split, or would any combination of dates work? (ie- would 12/10-12/13 and 12/13-12/16 also be acceptable..... or 12/12-12/16) Also, for your complete stay, HOTWIRE has what appears to be: Russel Court Hotel (mixed reviews) for $95/nite Mercure London Kensington Hotel for $119/nite ==> would either of these be acceptable and cause you to lower your maximum bid price? Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. Please confirm the information above and we'll take it from there. PS- if you haven't bid on priceline in awhile note that they have been moving/hiding the bidding page, if you're having trouble locating it, we have set up the following site for quick and easy access to the bidding side of priceline: BiddingForHotelRooms.com
  17. You don't mention what it is that you're looking for in a hotel for this trip so i can't really comment how this fits your plans for this trip.. What are your plans while in the area this stay... do you prefer to be near one specific park? A resort-like setting important? A nice pool? Budget? What made you choose this offer when there are others that are higher rated and less expensive (especially when including Bonnet Creek as an option and when considering HOTWIRE too)? Are your travel plans for this date firm? Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases.
  18. Do you see either the Animal Kingdom or the Art of Animation available (even though regular booking channels) at a price that is acceptable to your budget? Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases.
  19. Thank you for closing this thread with your decision. Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases.
  20. I don't see availability at either the Animal Kingdom or Art of Animation for your dates. Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases.
  21. Welcome to BetterBidding! Any of the following work for your needs (all are before fees/taxes): Swan for $196/nite Dolphin for $170/nite Coronado Springs for $207/nite Caribbean Beach Resort for $223/nite (confirm your dates on the landing page of any links above) Your thoughts? Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. Let us know what you decide and how it goes or how we can be of further help.
  22. OK, here we go... PRICELINE only guarantees double occupancy, so using their service for more than double occupancy can be a bit risky (especially in NYC where rooms are notoriously small and hotels often have a high percentage of rooms with only one bed and little/no space for a roll-away bed to be brought into the room... and rooms with 2 beds often are considered an upgrade and cost more). The one exception to this would be if you can find a PRICELINE EXPRESS Del hotel that offers a 'Bed Choice' and one of those choices is a room that is designed to accommodate 4 guests. --> Unfortunately i don't currently see any PRICELINE EXPRESS hotels rated 3.5* or higher rated hotels in NYC at under $200/nite that show a Bed Choice option. HOWEVER, HOTWIRE allows you to search for up to quad occupancy and guarantees that there will be sleeping accommodations for everyone that you include in your search. However, i'm not seeing any 3.5* rated hotels for your dates for under $200/nite when searching for quad occupancy. So your options come down to: -lowering your star rating -increasing your budget -staying outside of Manhattan (at a nearby location where you can commute into the city via bus/train) Alternately, if your plans are not yet firm (ie- you have not yet purchased airline tix) and you're able to delay your trip by 1 week you should see some better pricing as Dec 15 is right on the cusp of when we tend to go from some of the highest rates of the year drop to slightly more reasonable levels.... if you could delay even further (Dec 20-24) or into January/February it is one of the slowest times of the year for NYC and you will see rates at about half of what you're seeing for your original dates above. Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. Let us know your thoughts, and how flexible (if at all) you are with the dates and we'll take it from there.
  23. Please start by following-up your previous Orlando Hotwire hotel and Hotwire Disney threads with whatever you ended up doing for each of those trips. Please remember to follow-up your threads with your wins/decisions as you make them (even if you don't ultimately use PRICELINE / HOTWIRE, cancel the trip, book direct, etc) as this help keep the board better organized and more useful for everyone... as well as being a courtesy to anyone who took the time to help with your travel plans. For the offer above, have you tried using our newly updated BiddingHelper.com tool: 1) enter your travel dates and searchat BiddingHelper.com 2) click the PRICELINE EXPRESS tab 3) hover your mouse over (or click) the blue 'FIND MATCH in HOTEL LIST' button --> do you see the name of the hotel? Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases.
  24. Welcome to BetterBidding! Historically this is a very expensive weekend in NYC as it often brings lots of international travelers doing their last minute holiday shopping. As well, needing a room for quad occupancy is going to likely limit your options and increase the price. So we can get started seeing what is available, what is your expected budget for this trip? (per nite before fees/taxes) Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. Let us know regarding your budget and we'll take it from there.
  25. PRICELINE EXPRESS shows no 5 star hotels in the Aspen zone for your dates. Hotwire has: 5* HOTWIRE Snowmass for $520 Free Internet Resort Pet Friendly Slopeside Shuttle Smoke Free Fitness Pool Restaurant ==> Viceroy Snowmass You can see hotels offered in other nearby zones and/or lower star ratings in this zone using the method i discussed in your other thread: 1) search for your travel dates at BiddingHelper.com 2) click the PRICELINE EXPRESS or HOTWIRE EASY VIEW tabs 3) hover your mouse (or click on a mobile device) the blue 'FIND MATCH in HOTEL LIST' ... the best guess will be shown almost instantly (or if an instant guess can't be made, an additional click will perform more extensive research) Does the offer above (or any others that you identified thru BiddingHelper.com) work for your needs? Is $500 in your expected budget for this leg of your trip? Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. Let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help.
