  1. My bidding history (all with 3 stars selected): Selected Will Rogers Airport Area; bid $38: got a "try again right now for $46", which I ignored; Added Quail Springs and changed price to $40, rejected; Added Edmond and changed price to $42; accepted. 2. Attempted to extend my stay for 4 nights at the Hyatt Place San Antonio - Northwest, which I booked through Priceline's Name Your Own Price for $42/night, but they would only extend my stay if I increased my price to $71/night. Rather than do that, I began bidding anew. My bidding history (all with 2.5 stars selected): On 8/29/12: Selected 4 areas: San Antonio North - Stone Oak, San Antonio Airport (SAT), Fiesta Texas - La Cantera, & Medical Center; bid $42: got a "try again right now for $54", which I ignored; Added Fort Sam Houston and changed price to $45, rejected. On 8/31/12: Selected 3 areas: San Antonio North - Stone Oak, San Antonio Airport (SAT), & Fiesta Texas - La Cantera; bid $47; got a “try again right now for $53”, which I ignored; Added Medical Center and changed price to $50, accepted. Hotel was booked on 8/31/12 Taxes & fees: $43.16 Total: $243.16 I used the PRICELINE link.

Hotel was booked on 8/23/12. Taxes & fees: $13.20 Total: $52.20 I used the PRICELINE link. :D
  5. I was upgraded to a 3 star hotel, the Crowne Plaza Houston Northwest. Hotel was booked on 8/10/12. Taxes & fees: $37.12 Total: $205.12 I used the PRICELINE link. ;) BTW, are we supposed to use our bidding star level, or our winning hotel star level, in the title? I wasn't sure.
  6. Bid $35 for a 2.5 star hotel in Austin Arboretum, Austin Central, & Austin Northwest areas. Bid was rejected. Added Austin Airport North (highest star level is 2 stars...so no way I'll get something there, just added it for a free bid), bid again for $38, and the bid was accepted! $38/night, subtotal $114, plus $25.74 taxes & fees, for a total of $139.74. Hotel was booked on 7/27/12.
  7. Booked on 5/13/12 with my first bid. Taxes paid for 2 nights: $20.74 Used the PRICELINE link.
  8. Bid $50 in the Port Allen area for a 2.5* hotel and didn't get anything. Added the Baton Rouge area and increased my bid to $55 and got the Aspen Suites Baton Rouge. It's right off I-10 which is very convenient for us. We're staying on a Saturday night. I had $5 bonus cash/night so I really only paid $50 plus $14.88 taxes/fees for a total of $64.88. Used the PRICELINE link.
  9. Bid over a number of days, systematically increasing by bids. Here was my bidding process: On 6/18/11: 1st bid: 2.5* 6/23/11-6/27/11 Horsham-Fort Washington $35 2nd bid: 3* 6/23/11-6/27/11 Horsham-Fort Washington, Pottstown (Pottstown's highest hotel level is 2.5*, so added it for an extra bid) $40 On 6/20/11: 3rd bid: 3* 6/23/11-6/27/11 Horsham-Fort Washington $44 4th bid: 3* 6/23/11-6/27/11 Horsham-Fort Washington, Pottstown $46 5th bid: 2.5* 6/23/11-6/27/11 Horsham-Fort Washington $48 On 6/21/11: 6th bid: 3* 6/23/11-6/27/11 Horsham-Fort Washington $50 7th bid: 3* 6/23/11-6/27/11 Horsham-Fort Washington, Pottstown $53 8th bid: 2.5* 6/23/11-6/27/11 Horsham-Fort Washington $55 - got a bid again right now if you increase your price to $70, which I ignored... 9th (& winning) bid: 6/23/11-6/25/11 3* Horsham-Fort Washington $60, then extended my stay for 6/25/11-6/27/11 for $83 I wanted a hotel from 6/23/11-6/27/11, but after my 8th bid I decided to take a gamble and change my dates to get extra bids (thinking I could get a hotel for cheaper than $70). Bidding for 6/23/11-6/25/11 I got my first two nights (Thurs & Fri) at the Courtyard By Mariott for $60/night, and then I tried to extend my stay 2 additional nights through 6/27/11. While Priceline did let me extend my stay, I was only able to do so if I was willing to increase my price to $83/night for the additional two nights (Sat & Sun). I'm actually lucky that I was even able to extend my stay; there were a number of wedding parties, and I think the hotel was completely booked for the weekend. In retrospect it would have been $6 cheaper/room if I'd increased my bid to $70 for all 4 nights, and I wouldn't have had the hassle of checking out and checking back in mid-stay. The hotel rooms were nice and clean, and the staff honored our room type requests (again, lucky, as the hotel was quite full). I was surprised that being a 3* hotel, our rooms didn't come with a mircrowave or refrigerator. The parking lot isn't much to look at, and we had a view of the Home Depot across the street. The breakfast buffet is a bit pricey (I think it was $10.95 for the full buffet) but you can also buy items a-la-carte. There were a lot of loud, disruptive guests during our stay; I wish the hotel had been more proactive about keeping noise levels in check, rather than me having to call the front desk in the middle of the night. Original Reservation: 2 rooms, 6/23/11-6/25/11, $60/room/night, Subtotal: $240, Taxes & Fees: $31.76, Total Charges: $271.76 Additional Nights Reservation: 2 rooms, 6/25/11-6/27/11, $83/room/night, Subtotal: $332, Taxes & Fees: $41.40, Total Charges: $373.40
  10. I started bidding for a 2.5* hotel in the Edmond, Frontier City, Oklahoma City North, & Tinker-Del City areas, starting with $35. I bid up to $45 but my bids weren't accepted. This was unusual because in the past I've gotten the Crowne Plaza several times for $35 in the Oklahoma City North area. However, I see that whereas this used to be deemed a 2.5* hotel, it has now been elevated to a 3* hotel on Priceline. Then I got on this forum and saw that a lot of people were having success with a $38 bid in the Will Rogers Airport Area (OKC), so I bid $38 for a 3* hotel in this area and got the Wyndham Garden Hotel. I was bidding on 2 rooms for 1 night. I bid during a 48-sale where $5 Priceline bonus cash was included in my bid price, so I actually only paid $33 + $9.26 in taxes and fees or $42.26/room!
