First bid of $75 was rejected, got it for $80 by re-bidding with French Quarter+Downtown. As an aside, hotels seem to be really outrageous that weekend...maybe it's the Super Bowl or pre-Mardi Gras festivities. Anyway, my travel plans were a little flexible--could arrive either Thurs or Fri. I always check Hotwire to get a ballpark idea on hotel prices before bidding, and found this: 4* Downtown 2 nights Fri-Sun: $166/night x 2 = $332 4* Downtown 3 nights Thurs-Sun: $95/night x 3 = $285 Ummm...yes I would like to save money and get a free night. Oh and both appeared to be the Sheraton based on the Hotwire lists, which is of course what I eventually wound up with, albeit at a better rate.

If you view just Madison results you'll see that everyone seems to get the Sheraton for $43 or $45. My first bid was successful at $43. Have actually stayed there before on a priceline bid; 3.5* is a bit ambitious but it's clean and decent. Space isn't an issue as a lone business traveler and didn't need to be walkable to downtown for this trip, so should work out just fine. oops. Date got cut off, that's 9/30.
