  1. Initial bid of $74 for a 3-star property failed, but was given the option to increase my bid to $90, which I did, and was upgraded to this 3.5-star hotel. Interesting to note: pretty sure my Priceline.com confirmation screen listed this as a 3.5-star hotel (which corresponds to your listings), but my PRICELINE confirmation email labels this hotel as just 3-stars. Anyway, excited for this win. Best rate for these dates on Starwood.com was $219, so it's a pretty solid deal. Transaction initiated from BetterBidding.com PRICELINE link. -sno7
  2. Pretty good deal, best rate on Marriott.com was $179. Normally would have started bidding even lower, but I really wanted to stay in this zone. And I DID remember to start my bidding by clicking the PRICELINE link on BetterBidding.com, will try to remember that going forward Keep up the great work on the site! --sno7
  3. Looks like an older SHS, but still an amazing deal. Used the PRICELINE link... ~sno7
  4. bid $65 for 2.5*, was upgraded to a 3*. Stayed here before a few months back, very nice hotel. Used the PRICELINE link ~lc
  5. CORRECTION! Just noticed I listed this is a 3* property. This property (Courtyard Fair Oaks) is actually a 2.5* property. Apologies for the error...moderators can you update this for me? Thanks for your help! sno7
  6. purchased using the PRICELINE link on BetterBidding. Nice rate, was $83 via Priceline when I stayed here on 4/11/11. -sno7
  7. Courtyard by Marriott Fair Oaks purchased from PRICELINE link on Better Bidding
  8. Just got this for Monday and Tuesday nights. Great deal? Sure. But it really highlights my main frustration with Priceline. I was bidding on 3-star hotels. Priceline "upgraded" me to this 3.5-star property. Unfortunately, since this upgrade is to a full-service hotel, it will cost me $12.95/day for internet access, and $10-15/day if I want breakfast. Call me simple: I realize this is a much nicer (fancier?) hotel, but I would have MUCH rather preferred a Spring Hill Suites, Residence Inn, or Hampton Inn, etc., with free wifi and and free continental breakfast... I realize most business travelers are expensing these costs, but for an independent contractor like myself, I am paying these extra expenses, and it's a little frustrating. Full service hotels and limited-service hotels (like those mentioned above) are like apples and oranges; I really think Priceline should re-evaluate this before continuing to automatically upgrade to full-service hotels. Thoughts? snoqualmie7
  9. Apologies, price should read $83 (sorry mods, don't know why I'm struggling so hard to get my wins posted correctly tonight :)
  10. Week 6 of working in NoVa: Toughest Priceline bidding so far: highest price paid for lowest rating! Started with bids for Tysons, and worked progressively west with each successive rejection. Not sure if this is higher occupancy due to spring break, Easter, closer to summer, or possibly that I've been bidding for stays on Tuesdays (instead of Mondays) for the last two weeks. Not a terrible deal, but I hope these trends don't continue. ~sno7 Summary of North Virginia wins March/April 2011: 3/7 3* Residence Inn Reston-Herndon $75 3/14 3* Residence Inn Fairfax-Merrifield $62 3/21 3* Hilton Garden Inn Tysons Corner $57 3/28 3.5* Marriott Tysons Corner $67 4/4 3* aloft Ashburn $69 4/11 2.5* Hampton Inn Dulles Cascades $83
  11. Correction: this is actually a 3-star hotel (erroneously pasted from an earlier post) --sno7
  12. 3.5* Northern VA (Tysons Corner-Falls Church) Marriott Tysons Corner. Originally bid $52 for 3*. PL offered the chance to retry at $67, so I took it and they upgraded me to the 3.5* Marriott, not bad. Used the BB PRICELINE link to begin the purchase... --sno7 Summary of North Virginia wins so far: 3/7 3* Residence Inn Reston-Herndon $75 3/14 3* Residence Inn Fairfax-Merrifield $62 3/21 3* Hilton Garden Inn $57 3/28 3.5* Marriott $67
  13. Hey Yellowdog! I actually DID use the betterbidding PRICELINE link to start this...forgot to mention that! Definitely want to help you out any way I can... Thanks! -sno7
  14. Another great deal in Northern Virginia; another "same day" win (booked on Priceline for that night). Nice hotel, will try to post a short review of this hotel later today
  15. Just booked this for a same day stay. Priceline stated the average cost for rooms in Tyson's/Falls Church is $284. Marriott.com's rate for this property is $239 Didn't think I could get $62 without heading further west into the suburbs, but I didn't even get the "you have almost no chance" warning from Priceline on this, so I wonder how low this might have gone for. Used the BetterBidding PRICELINE link to purchase...thanks again for keeping this site going, it's a huge asset. --sno7
  16. Sorry moderators, I botched the title...can you fix it? Price was $75, hotel is the Residence Inn Herndon-Reston
  17. Just got this for $75...listed rate is $209 on marriott.com, so not bad. I've spent a lot of time at the sparkling Residence Inn Dulles 28 (built in 2009), so I'm interested to see what this older RI is like. Still, great price regardless! This site is a huge help, keep up the great work! ~lc
  18. Got the aloft next door for $75 on my last trip to Northern VA...wish I had remembered that. Would have gladly paid $6 more to get that again! HGI is nice enough though... FINALLY remembered to start my bid from the PRICELINE link on betterbidding.com
  19. initial bid: $59.00 for a 3* PRICELINE returned "you have a one-time opportunity to increase your bid by $15-$74 to secure a winning bid" or something to that effect. Price field had $74 (59+15) automatically filled in for me. Re-submitted at $74. Got the message:
