  1. New Option: Please Help. I don't necessarily need 2 beds now. Change of plans. 4* Magnificent Mile North - Water Tower area hotel - $131 a night. Only 75% Recommended. (is that bad?) Fitness Center Restaurant(s) Business Center High-Speed Internet Access Accessible for the blind Accessible for the deaf Accessible path of travel In-room accessibility Accessible bathroom Roll-in shower do I need to start a new topic or is this OK?
  2. I'd like to be under $400 per room, for 3 nights if possible. (total price) Think I would have better luck with Priceline? I actually thought waiting until last minute would be better.... Today I see 4* in Downtown for $135, looks to be the best deal....
  3. I have 2 in each room, and 4 people total so need 2 rooms. I noticed Club Quarters only has single beds, is that the case in the entire hotel? Anything decent and near downtown is what I'm looking for. We are going to Market Days, so near Public Transit is what I need really too. Thanks!
  4. Any other thoughts anyone? I feel like this is an OK deal but it could be bad news. This is within my budget for my group. I need 2 rooms. Any other suggestions, dates non flexible. Thanks, Rachel
  5. Hi all, Need help identifying this hotel at least somewhat. 3.5-star Hotel in Downtown Chicago - Millennium Park - Grant Park $109 per night. The only hotel you have listed in the list is Silversmith, and this might be fine, but is there a chance it's something else? This Hotel features the following amenities: Free Internet Smoke Free Rooms Fitness Center High-Speed Internet Access Recommended: In 90% of Hotwire customer reviews. This is all that is listed, even when you click through to almost buy it. Please let me know if anyone can help!
  6. Haven't pulled the trigger on this yet, but thanks for your input. I'm pretty sure the Crowne Plaza is correct. It has mixed reviews, but my friend actually lives in that area, so it seems like a good choice. Thanks!
  7. Need help IDing this Hotel. I've done the research as I often try Hotwire or Priceline for trips, but haven't won in a while so I don't post much. I checked Expedia for Comparisons on Hotel Amenities, and I'm 95% sure its Crowne Plaza Chicago Metro Downtown off Halsted and Madison. This is actually near my good friend who lives on S. Halstead and 16th. So I'm happy with this property, but am I completely wrong? If you look at the Hotwire Map for this area, it pulls far west past the highway right where this hotel is located. 3.5* Chicago Loop - Theater District. $104 per night Fitness Center Restaurant Business Center High Speed Internet Golf Nearby Accessible for Blind Accessible for Deaf Accessible path of travel Accessible bathroom Handicapped Parking In-room accessibility Roll-in Shower Thanks in advance.
  8. Closing this thread. Decided to say at a friends Condo North of Town. Thanks for all the advice. Can't wait for the trip.
  9. Thanks for the information about the Subway. I see the Red Line on Google Maps. Looks like the festival and most activities are in the area of N Halsted St & W Waveland Ave, or in the Lakeview area. I noticed there is a Lincoln Park zone, but is there a different zone on Priceline or Hotwire I should consider since it seems like these locations are pretty far north of Downtown? I live in Denver, so the Downtown area is not huge, when you stay downtown, you can pretty much walk within a 1.5 mile radius to anywhere decent like bars, coors field, pepsi center, etc, but Chicago seems much bigger and I just don't know the areas. I have tried looking on the usual sites, but rates are $200+ for most hotels. I'd like to avoid this if possible.
  10. Will close out threads in the future, didn't realize that was the way to go. OK, so I've done some research on location and Google Mapped the listing of hotels in the NMA/River North area. I feel like the Loop is getting too far from where I want to be. Ultimately, as a last resort, it would work. The gayborhood of Chicago is more north near Lincoln Park, so I want to be able to take the Subway pretty easily to that area for the pride type activities. The NMA/River North Hotels 3* 3.5* and 4* all look acceptable, but I really don't want to go over $400 total if possible for 3 nights. Might be a stretch, but I guess it's worth a try. I started bidding at $65 today just for fun for 4* in NMA, and went up to $80 with no luck. Only did 4* and added all 6 rebid zones increasing by 3-5$ each time. Fail. Thanks again for the help.
  11. I don't typically provide follow-ups if I'm not successful, but I posted them like you asked. My NYC trip was cancelled because my girlfriend broke up with me, and I never won any bids so that's a good thing. My Austin Trip I never won anything either, so I'm 0-2. When I actually am successful, I will have no problem posting. Can you help me now?
  12. Never won a bid for anything for this trip. Ended up staying with friends.
  13. This trip was cancelled, so I never bid anything or won anything.
  14. Hi, New to Chicago. Only been once so I need help in the bidding process. I saw in another post there are several rebid zones for 4* hotels, but I'd be happy with a 3.5 or maybe even a 3* in the area North of Downtown. Desired Budget = $100 a night, but realistic budget maybe $140? Fri-Monday Night - 3 nights. Zones I'd like to Bid: 1. North Michigan Ave/River North 2. Millennium Park/Grant Park 3. Lincoln Park (but there is only a 2.5 star here, so not sure of my options) 4. Greater Chicago (how easy would it be to get around, take train to pride festivities taking place at Northalsted?) My last posts about NYC plans were a bust, so now I'm thinking Chicago! Thanks in advance. Rachel
  15. I noticed you suggest adding all 4*s at the beginning instead of 1 by 1. Is there an advantage to this? I think when I've tried priceline before, I've added them one at a time, and then gone up slightly in price while adding another option. Totally wrong?
  16. I'd do 4* at any of these zones. Central Park South Chelsea Empire State Area Hell's Kitchen Lower East Side Madison Square Garden Midtown East Midtown West Times Square Soho-Tribeca Downtown-Wall Street
  17. Answering Dates Question: 5 nights preferred, but 4 nights would work. 1-2 days earlier/later we are flexible around the 12-17, whatever is the best deal. I'd prefer to be in NY the 13-14 so we can go to the Yankees game :) Strategy Question: I'd love to get a 4* so I'd like to try for that first. I'd even do downtown zone as well for 4* because I was researching some of the hotels down there yesterday, and those would be just fine. I'd even go up to $130ish per night if I could get a 4* hotel. If that doesn't work, we retry some other options. I'd love to stay at Ink48, but the lowest rate I can find is $200+tax online for this property. Thanks for the help and the advice!
  18. If you don't mind my asking - what hotel is 15 minute walk from the subway? Thanks!
  19. Hi - Also I wanted to add, since I have so much time I'd like to develop some sort of strategy for bidding and see if I have any luck. I can try a few days a week or whatever and see if anything sticks. Staying under $700 for 5 nights is basically my goal, lower if possible. I'd like a 4* or 3.5* property, maybe even 3* in a decent location. After reviewing the locations for bidding, I'd be fine with any of these: Central Park South Chelsea Empire State Area Hell's Kitchen Lower East Side Madison Square Garden Midtown East - West Times Square Soho-Tribeca I went ahead and made a fully refundable reservation at the Cosmopolitan hotel in Tribeca, for a little over $700 as my last resort. I've seen some negative reviews regarding noise and construction, so not sure if that will be cleared up by July 2012. This is for my girlfriends birthday, so I just want to do it right and make her love NYC as much as I do. Thanks in advance!
  20. Either of those dates would be acceptable, why would it matter it's just 1 day off? Those dates are firm, that is when I have a week off.
  21. I like the location of the hotel, and it seems pretty good, but I've also been reading some bad reviews. Doing too much research can also be a bad thing because people can find negative things to say about anything - but I guess I'd use that as a backup option. I'd like to spend less than $700 if at all possible. I'm also considering going July 11-16 instead, so this would be a Weds-Monday. I'm flexible on where we stay, price and access to subway is really all I'm concerned about. I've been to Manhattan several times and know my way around pretty well. I'd love to stay at a super luxurious place, but it's just not in my budget right now. :) Thanks for your response.
  22. I want to take my girlfriend to NYC, she's never been. This date range is what I'm looking at, due to conflicts with work. Start now? I'd really like to be under $700 for 5 nights, but realize that's a tall order. I've read some interesting things about the Cosmopolitan hotel, and they are advertising $115 for these dates per night. Seems pretty decent. I've used priceline before, but never for NYC. I'd like to go in with a plan! Any advice? Go Yankees!
  23. splitting my bid is not an ideal option. The lowest price I've been able to find is around $113 per night for the La Quinta inn downtown. Any other thoughts, is there any bids I can do that will be accepted? sorry I found the hotel listing right after I posted my comment. I realize it's a football weekend but do I have no chance? Thanks. rachel
  24. Hi there, I am going down for a friends wedding and it happens to be a football game day on 10/23, so my Friday night is what is killing me. Looking for Wed, Thurs Fri night dates above. Have been trying for weeks on 4* at $85-$90 with no luck. Tried 3.5* at $80-$85. I have looked but can't find a listing of downtown properties on this site at 3* and 2* Priceline.com has the La Quinta downtown at 2*, but other sites like Travelocity have it as 3* - This hotel would work great because it is right near the wedding location. But I'm not sure it's on either list for bidding. Any advice? Really want the total including taxes to be $300 or lower. Have to be downtown, no other zones work. Thanks much. Rachel
