  1. Just to let you know, I tried bidding a couple of more times….no luck. I finally just booked the Express Deals through PRICELINE since we are running out of time. $106 for a 3* hotel in the airport zone. Got the Cambria Suites. I don't know anything about them, but it has free internet and shuttle, which are both important to us. Hopefully, we can also get a good night's sleep! The going price on their web-site for this night was $159, so even though I didn't get a great deal for a good hotel, it is probably a fair deal. Thanks for your help Booked through the PRICELINE link on your website.
  2. thanks for your input. No, it is not a pre-cruise stay…we are returning from a trip to Central America and some in the group have a very early morning flight out. So we would prefer to stay at a hotel close by with a shuttle service. I am debating the merits of trying to "win" a bid at $100 when I can book a sure thing for not much more than that….???
  3. I am so sorry!! It will be for one night..March 3. We are willing to spend around $100 or so…we are flexible. Saw PRICELINE was offering several 3* tonight for $106.
  4. Have been bidding for over a week trying to get 3 rooms at Ft. Lauderdale Airport At 3.5*, I have 2 free rebids at Airport North and Miramar. Sheraton price is $167. 3* has only one re-bid at Airport North. Price is Hilton at $122, HOliday Inn Express is $139, Holiday Inn is $181, Fairfield Is $169, Springhill is $194, Courtyard $211. I have bid 3.5* up to $95, 3* up to $81. Are my chances of getting a good bid less if I am bidding for 3 rooms at a time? Should I try just one room at a time and figure we just might all be at different hotels? Thanks for any help you can give me!
  5. Just wanted to bring you up-to-date...I have been trying daily for a 5* in Athens...with no luck. We have gone up to $100, but don't want to go any higher because these properties usually don't include breakfast or free wi-fi, and most are a bit out of the area we need. So today I just decided to book a great property right in Plaka district. It has a great breakfast, wifi, both of which are important to us, and is right next door to the metro, so we can get to the airport quickly and cheaper than a taxi. All-in-all, I think we will be happier and I don't need to spend time bidding anymore. While I love Priceline and use it all the time, sometimes it just seems that maybe another route is better....Thanks everyone for all your help. I really appreicate it.
  6. I have continued to bid on this regularly, with no luck. I have gone from $70 up to $96. If I bid 90 or above, I always get the message I can bid again right away if I raise my bid by $25. Never get that message below 90. I have looked at the 4* available, as suggested, but I'm not thrilled with those choices/reviews. So I'd like to stick with the 5* options. I see that it is common for people to win this bid between 80 and 90, so I'm not sure why I'm not having any luck going as high as I have. Especially given the rocky situation there!
  7. Thanks, yes, I've noticed that it has offered me the same $25 increase if I bid anywhere from 90-95 so far. I will keep trying....
  8. Thanks...do you think it is too early to be bidding on this?
  9. We will be in Athens on Oct 2-4. I have been bidding on a room for a couple of weeks now with no luck. Based on last Fall's winning bids, I started at $70, but quickly went to the $80's and am now in the low $90's. I am always rejected in the 80's, but if I bid 90 or more, I am always told I can bid right away if I raise my bid by $25. There are no free re-bids for this area. Am I bidding too early? Are the 4*'s good deals and decent locations? Any advice would be appreciated. I always bid through your PRICELINE link...Thank you.
  10. Finally tonight got the Residence Inn Miami Airport South (3*) for $71 per night. Not great, but not bad considering what I have been bidding. Rooms are $189 per night on their website for that time. Says they have shuttle and breakfast...so I hope that is true. Used the PRICELINE link on your site. Thanks for all your help...as always.
  11. In the 3.5 zone, I first bid Miami Int'l, then add Aventura, Dadeland, Miami West, N. Miami, and SW Miami. In both the 3.0 zone and 2.5 zone, there is only one free re-bid, that being N. Miami.
  12. I had been trying to stay under $100 for a 3.5, but actually went up to $110 one frustrating night! At the 3 level, I went up to about $60 at one point, and then bid at the 2.5 level, up to about $53. What do you think I should be trying now? I am wondering if I should just be bidding for the 13th alone, then if I am successful, try to add another night, or do a separate bid for the 2nd night.....Advice?
  13. Have still been bidding on both 3* and 3.5*, but getting no where with what I think are generous bids. I will need to pin something down this week, so any last minute help would be appreciated. I have looked into the Hotwire hotel, but am still a little hesitant to bite the bullet there since I have no experience with Hotwire. Any further help?
  14. Thanks for your help so far...I have some questions. I have used Priceline for years, but have never used Hotwire...do they use the approximate same rating system as Priceline? Would a 3* at the Miami airport be clean, comfortable, and have free shuttle to the terminal? Do they ususally have several different hotels under each category? What kind of fees are attached to a purchase? Is it a reliable method of getting a good deal on a room? Thanks for your help.
  15. We are flying into Miami at about 11 pm on the 13th, and flying out of Miami at midnight on the 14th, hence need for room for 2 days to have a place to sleep on the 13th and a base on the 14th....any ideas?
  16. Tried 3*, but only have 1 free re-bid there; went to $54, and no luck.
  17. thanks, maybe I'll try a 3* and lower my expectations!
  18. I was hoping to get a room in the $60 range, thinking my max would be $75, which I have tried. Maybe I am being unrealistic, or maybe I'll have to raise my limit...any suggestions?
  19. I have been bidding almost daily for over 2 weeks. I need one room for 2 nights at the airport, Jan 13 - 15. Started out trying for 4*, quickly lowered to 3.5. Have bid up to $75, with no luck. Use my free rebids each time. It seems that around $52 is a common price for the airport, so I started there. Noticed that someone just got 3.5 two days later for $75. Help! (and thanks)
  20. I need 3 rooms in Hong Kong from Dec 9 - 12 in West Hong Kong or Tsim Sha Tsui. Would like 5*, paying a max of $125. Can you help me with the best strategy for bidding? Thank you....
  21. Never did get a room via PRICELINE. ended up staying at Comfort Inn, whose air con was on the blink. 80 degrees all night. I think the problem with the room rates being so high may have been because of the baseball playoffs......thanks for all your time and effort with this. As always, I appreciate it.
  22. Never did get a room via Priceline. ended up staying at Comfort Inn, whose air con was on the blink. 80 degrees all night. I think the problem may have been the baseball playoffs......thanks for all your time and effort with this. As always, I appreciate it.
  23. Thanks, just tried your method, and -- it didn't work. When I had re-opened the browser for the 3rd time, I did just as you said, and their response was that I had already tried that same bid and needed to change something else. I can't believe I can't get a 3* for the prices I've been bidding. I have one more stab at it tomorrow, then I guess I'm stuck with Comfort Inn at full price. I do appreciate your help on this and other bids.
  24. Thanks for your help. I will try today as soon as my 24 hours are up. One question; why do you close browser after each re-bid? I have always just kept adding my re-bids to original request. What is the benefit to closing the browser each time? Just wondering.....thanks again for the help. I'll get back to you.] Also, what, exactly are the Priceline fees? They are always included with the tax and I'm never quite sure. Is it per transaction, per room, per day? Just wondering how to factor that into the price I bid. For instance, I'm not sure that going up to $140 would be to my advantange as we already have the Comfort Inn at $159. Although, I guess since that is 2.5, we'd be getting a 3* room at that rate. Thanks
