  1. Got this deal on 7/18/13 and immediately after booking I saw that the price fell by $2! C'est la vie. I am still happy with the price for a 4 star hotel. In addition to the $89 there will be $21+ in taxes, etc. I used the Better Bidding link to HOTWIRE. The listed amenities on Hotwire for the Hyatt Regency are the following: Smoke Free Rooms Guest rooms at this hotel are always smoke-free. Fitness Center Guests have access to exercise equipment; an additional charge may apply. Restaurant(s) Property offers at least one restaurant on the premises; hours and days of operation may vary. Business Center Guests have access to business equipment and services; an additional charge may apply. High-Speed Internet Access Guestrooms are equipped with high-speed Internet access; an extra charge may apply. Tennis Nearby Property is located within walking distance or a short drive of at least one tennis court; an extra charge typically applies. 2. I went to the trip details page on my account on Hotwire and this is all it had (see below). If one does a search on Hotwire where the name of the hotel is revealed it has more amenities (elevators, outdoor pool, concierge, etc. etc.) And of course I used the links on this site to access Hotwire :) 3-star Hotel in Riverwalk West and La Villita This Hotel features the following amenities: Fitness Center Guests have access to exercise equipment; an additional charge may apply. In-room accessibility Accessible path from the room entrance to the window, the bed and the bathroom; accessible hardware and minimal resistance to open the door; accessible temperature controls and window coverings
  3. Amenities listed: Fitness Center, Restaurant, Business Center, High-Speed Internet, In-room accessibility 80% satisfaction. I stayed in this hotel last year (I can't remember if I booked through Hotwire or Priceline) and found it to be a perfectly comfortable hotel. This time I was pretty sure by the description of amenities that I was getting the St. Anthony and I was right. The cheapest rooms on their web site were $104 plus tax for the days I am staying. If you like old hotels, rather than characterless new ones, then you will like the St. Anthony. The location is good and the property is well maintained. The room I had last year was small, but it was certainly big enough and had all of the things one would expect, including the current trend of giving one too many pillows.
  4. Amenities listed: Indoor pool; fitness center; pool(s); business center; laundry (self service); high speed internet; free breakfast; wheelchair access. Seems like a good deal as the Holiday Inn Express web site listed a room on that day for $107. Based on an earlier poster's experience in Terre Haute (and property description, etc.), I had guessed that I would get the regular Holiday Inn. The HIE is better because it includes breakfast. Thanks for the forum - I don't use it a lot, but when I do it is very helpful. And of course I use the forum's link to HOTWIRE!
  5. Just got back after my stay at the Ramada Plaza. I can report that the hotel was very nice, but be forewarned that there isn't much nearby (a Holiday gas station and a Wendy's is about it). It is in an area so industrial and business-oriented that the streets don't even have sidewalks (seemed to be a perfectly safe area, however). I was without a car, but because it was a lovely summer day, I walked 3/4 of a mile to Hennepin Avenue and got the bus into downtown. The hotel bar/restaurant was dark and the menu was nothing special, but the woman who was keeping bar was really nice and the hamburger and beer I got were good. The room was nicely appointed for a hotel at this star level, the bathroom was small but clean.
  6. A similar result to an earlier posting by Bob (but for a day earlier). I tried Priceline first in the Bloomington-Airport and the Eagan areas at the 2.5* level and above (because at those star levels in Priceline I think all of the hotels in those areas have airport shuttles, a necessity because this stay precedes a crack-of-dawn departure) with bids up to $60, but got nothing but rejections. I finally gave up on Priceline and went to Hotwire where I could assure a hotel with an airport shuttle. The Bloomington West area is marginally farther from the airport, but with the shuttle it doesn't matter much. The amenities listed on this hotel are: shuttle/breakfast/fitness center/pool/business center/laundry/ high speed internet. The regular rate on Hotwire for this hotel on this date is $92/night.
  7. I had been trying for a few days in the downtown and airport areas. When I expanded to university - metrodome I got the Ramada Plaza (seems to be in a boring industrial area near I-35E and a cemetery). The $50 + tax price was right, as the list price on the Ramada web site was $149.
  8. Just to report on this stay: The hotel was nice and the shuttle to the airport was convenient (leaves every twenty minutes). We were perfectly satisfied with the deal and the hotel.
  9. Tried first for 4* and then 3 1/2* hotel in the SFO and San Bruno areas at $50 and then up to $60 with no luck. I checked what the 3* hotels in the SFO/Burlingame area were and they all looked fine and all had shuttle services to SFO. My $52 bid was successful - not a tremendous savings off the $65 price on the Crowne Plaza web site, but I was tired of fiddling around w/ PRICELINE, so I'm reasonably content.
