  2. I was ultimately unsuccessful with the Priceline bidding strategy listed above. I followed it exactly as described. On the bright side, I opted for the Hotwire deal at $146 (+ $10 off with the coupon code) and was successful with the W on Lexington! I am very pleased with the outcome. Incidentally, the property changed from that which I thought was the Drake to what I knew was the W. The price was remained $146. The following is the detail: Boutique Hotel, Fitness Center, Spa Services, High-Speed Internet Access, Business Center W New York 541 Lexington Avenue New York City, New York 10022 (212) 755-1200 Check-in: Sat, Jul 23, 2005 Check-out: Sun, Jul 24, 2005 Adults: 1 Children: 0 Upscale 1 room(s) @ $146.00 per night x 1 night(s) $146.00 Taxes and fees: $30.95 Hotel Subtotal $176.95 Additional Savings: $10.00 Total Price: $166.95
  3. A good suggestion Thereuare, I think a good strategy would peak at $146. I have never used Hotwire before. The only things I know about it, I've read from this site.
  4. I would prefer The Drake Swissotel deal on Hotwire over the Beekman Tower, I think. Yet, I still believe its possible to get an even better deal on Priceline with a good bidding strategy. Could you suggest a strategy?
  5. 4* NYC (MTE) 7/23-7/24 Midtown East (Midtown) - See map Customer Favorite! Selected amenities include: Restaurant(s), Fitness Center, Spa Services, Business Center.
  6. I made those bids earlier this morning and, as noted, they all failed. Could you suggest a better strategy. This is only my 2nd time using priceline. As I said previously, I would consider any zone, including downtown with a max bid of $180.
  7. Bid History: 4* $110 MTW, MTE : Failed $115 +CPS: Failed $120 +UES: Failed $125 +UWS: Failed $130 +Midtown South : Failed
  8. My maximum would be $200 including the taxes, so probably a bid around $180 would be where I would max out.
  9. I am searching for a place 7/23-7/24 at a 4* or greater and would stay in ANY Manhattan zones. Could someone suggest a bidding strategy and opening bid. Thanks.
  10. I'm curious to hear what results others have had (in any city) with Priceline requests for long term stays. I would like to stay in Boston from June 6 -- June 27 or 21 nights with an ideal max price of $50/night. I noticed that people were getting the Hyatt in Cambridge for less than $50, so that seems promising. I would be very happy with that. A 4* or 3* would be ideal. My first choice zone would be Cambridge, but I would also consider Copley, Downtown and WTC in that order. Am I better off breaking up the stay and bidding for smaller increments to start out, or should I try for the whole duration from the beginning? I'd obviously prefer not to hop around between hotels if I don't have to. Should I wait until I'm closer to June to put in my requests or is it better to bid before things fill up? The fact that there are likely a lot of college graduations during that time sorta worries me. You guys are the experts, so I'm looking forward to hearing some good stratagies. Thanks.
