  1. I looked up the hotel you have saved and it looks to be a 3 1/2 star in Notting hill area and you are right the reviews on TA are not very good. I am just wondering why you would not be willing to bid all zones that are at least as well located as that zone instead of just the bloomsbury and mayfair/soho zones. I would think your chances of getting a 4 star in your price range would be greatly improved if you add zones that are less expensive (like the one you are currently booked in) and you would probably get a nicer hotel than the one you currently have held. Just a thought
  2. Have you done any research on the Regents Park area? Not much further and the hotels are very close to tube. Often possible to get nice 4 stars for $100 and under. If you consider that zone I think your chances of success are much better. JMO
  3. I found some priceline bonus money that is good for up to $25. I must be used by Feb. 14th midnight so not much time to use. I just claimed it and then opened your PRICELINE link and followed it to priceline and went through the "my rewards" button all the way to bidding and it is showing the bonus as active. I just want to verify that you will still get credit. There did not seem to be any problem using your link to access all of this. The bonus money is called 48 Hour Hotel Sale - Email Exclusive! Do you see any problems with using your link as well as the bonus money? thank you
  4. I stayed here several years ago and it was great. Big rooms with 2 queen beds. Nice clean property. Once you get on the tube it's not long to city center. For what you are needing this is perfect and hard to find closer in esp. using priceline and getting such a great deal. Have a great trip.
  5. The Regants Park area comes up with the Marriotts and Hilton with 2 beds per room. Your best bet might be to use hotwire as you can put in how many per room. If you put in 3 for one of the rooms you would get 2 beds and I know the Marriott Regants Park comes up on hotwire for a lot of dates. They also allow rollaways in that property. I have stayed there myself. I got it on priceline several years ago and had 2 rooms with 2 queen beds. It was very nice. A little farther out but you just grab the tube and your in the city in no time. If you bid priceline Regants park I think your chances of getting a room with 2 beds are good, and you will probably get the room cheaper than hotwire, but it you really have to have 2 beds I would go the hotwire route and enter 3 as the number in the room. For my dates the Marriott comes up and there is no price difference for 2 or 3 in room.
  6. Was this a priceline bid? Can you tell us a little about your bidding stradagy, was it first bid, did you use re-bids? thanks so much
  7. Was this a PRICELINE win or HOTWIRE? The first post was referring to hotwire with no mention of priceline. I was assuming priceline as it is called a "bid" but poster could have called the hotwire win a 'bid" as they are new.
  8. Valencia, I see you still looking at London bids, :) Did you see that bloomsbury marble arch 4 star Marriott win at $93? Looks good to me! Aren't you even tempted to try for that one? :)
  9. Valencia, now who do you think you're kidding? You know this bidding sage is not really OVER, LOL! You're reservation is cancellable, which means you will keep watching for winning bids on priceline for your dates, and maybe even checking hotwire a few more times. I know how it is. I tell myself it's over when I book something that I can cancel, but it never really is! It's a sickness, we can't help it. LOL!!! PS I have held something as well because there are 5 in my party so I am scared to use priceline since you are only guaranteed double occupancy. Since this is London I am afraid I might get a room with one double (not quenn) bed and then we would be screwed! (well not literally, LOL) Can you see 3 teenagers trying to sleep together in one double bed? Anyway, I wanted to use priceline and bid 2 rooms, 4 or 5 star only and central location. But the more I thought about it the more I got scared so have saved the Hilton Metropole because there are 2 queen beds per room. But do I stop looking, no way! My name is Cindy and I'm addicted to finding a bargain! LOL
  10. don't Panic or you'll do something you regret ( at least I always do, LOL) If you are getting counteroffers for $25 at $100 bids, for those locations that are really central, I think you can get a great deal. In checking prices for 4 star in central londer if you can get a 4 star room for $125 that is a BARGAIN. Why don't you just do it? Nab it and be done with it. sometimes I get caught up over a few dollars while bidding, then drop $10 for a glass of wine and think "Why do I stress over a few more dollars bidding for my room then totally throw money away on something like a glass of wine and don't worry one bit?" But alas...... money spent on wine is never waisted. LOL .............. Just do it!
  11. Just saw where somone got one of the Marriott's in Regent park for $83 a couple weeks prior to your date. Do you think they may have just added some inventory to priceline that may include your dates? Worth a try, I'd say if you don't mind staying out there.
  12. I do share my info! click on my name and you will see. That win was several years ago and I had bid through another link so I didn't post it here. I no longer use that link. I don't use hotwire/priceline all the often, but when I do I use your link and it I ask for help I will definitley post back. If however I don't consult the board and just go straingt to the bidding I use your link but then probably don't go back and start a thread to post. Thanks for the board. It is very helpful
  13. valencia, I agree with you about never planning on more than double occupancy with priceline, that is precisely why I bid for 2 rooms. I was just letting her know how large the room/beds are at this hotel. If I do decide to use priceline for this trip I will definitely be bidding 2 rooms. Hotwire will let you pick a room for 4 so that is an option that puts them ahead of priceline if you must have more than double occupancy. I think at this point will use try priceline for a least 3 or 4 days of my stay, but have not pulled the trigger yet!
  14. My family is going for a week in March (13th-20) so I am watching this thread. Last time was got Marriott near Regants Park and it was really nice. We are a family of 5 and got 2 rooms, but we could all have stayed in that one room as I think the 2 beds were queen sized, and they allow rollaways! Don't remember the price but it was under $100 a night. I am hoping to get a little closer in to town this time. That hotel was not super close to the tube stop (Swiss cottage) I'd say about 1/3 of a mile, and while that does not sould like alot it feels like it at the end of a long day. However, I would stay there again in a heart beat if that is how it works out becuase it was really nice and that is even by American standards. Also while there is no breakfast included the area has many nice little local cafes to get a really delicious hot breakfast for under 10 pounds. also about hotwire. I am watching it as well, however I have found out that hotwire is more liberal with their star ratings. What they call a 4 stay, priceline may list as 3 1/2, so I would be careful about booking anything under a 4 star on hotwire, (as it may be more like 3 star and I did get a sketchy 3 star thistle on priceline on one trip) I would bid a 3 1/2 on priceline though. Please don't stop posting because I am very interested in what you get. When I start bidding I will post here as well. I did go ahead and book our last night on the Hilton 50% off weekend rate as we have an early am flight out of Gatwick and the 50% rate at the airport was good. PS I would not be surprise to see a bid in the $90's get accepted on priceline if you add in the Regents park area, and you will probably get that Marriott. Just a hunch from seeing it won on another site that will remain nameless LOL.
  15. Used several free rebids to hit at $60. 2 roooms for one night. Internet rate for this night is $99.00. This is the resort I was hoping for as they are about the only ones that do not charge a resort fee. I have stayed here before and was very pleased. Location is perfect. Total with taxes. $144.18 (2 rooms 1 night) Used the PRICELINE link on top of this page. Thats for keeping this board going. I have had it with TOBB. Just no need for all the rudeness over there. All of my bids will be through your PRICELINE andHOTWIRE links from now on!
  16. Just booked 3 rooms for 3 nights each for Feb. 26-29. Started at $50.00 and used free rebids to hit at $75.00 per night. Cheapest room on website for those nights is $199.00. Total with taxes is $780.45 (3 rooms, 3 nights ) Used the savingsbarn PRICELINE link. Thanks. :)
  17. Internet rate was $209. Started with $60 and used rebids to hit at $70.00. Used savingsbarn link
