  1. Hi, We spent two nights at the Bond Hotel in Downtown Toronto, thanks to tipsters from this forum. My bid of $52 for a Thursday and Friday night were accepted. It is in a great location -- kitty corner from the subway station, movie theaters, dundas square and located only a block from Yonge Street and the Eaton Center Mall. Check in was easy and the hotel seems very secure. There were quite a few European guests. Issues that may concern/help: The rooms have recently been renovated and there is a nice flat-screen television. The room is very small and it had two twins so it was a lot like a dorm room (and a challenge because there were three of us!) We were on the 11th floor which offered a nice view. The room was perfectly fine since we weren't spending much time there, but it was a little muggy (ie humid) in there. Temp control can be adjusted easily to either way you are accustomed to reading the temp. Parking is $15 a night at their garage (the man who works in the booth is wholly lacking in social skills, bordering on the surly). The internet (which we did not get) costs $10.11 per night.
  2. Thank you thank you thank you for this site! How inspired and how kind posters are! Love it! My first try on this was for an overnight stay -- we were landing in Buffalo very late (driving to Toronto the next a.m.) and based on what I gleaned from this forum, I was able to secure the Millenium Hotel for $32. That is unbelievable! It was an easy check in -- the hotel is very large and our room was one that had a shotgun door -- access from the "inside" of the hotel (first floor, of course) and then an outside door (we were able to park directly in front of our room). It is not picturesque, but it is extremely suitable for an overnight. Apparently a lot of events are held here so if you had to stay here, using the betterbidding.com tactics should work for you. Also, a big PLUS: the internet is FREE! Just to test it, I went to their site and put in the same night we stayed (Wednesday) for the following week and our room came up at $129! There is a massive mall right next door -- we weren't able to go, but if you were traveling with someone who had business, it's an easy walk across a parking lot.
