  1. Final addendum: Since the booking was made via "a wholesale outlet" (hotels.com), Marriott will NOT provide Marriott points or credit the stay towards Marriott status. This is news to me, and a bit disappointing, but no big deal, I just need a place to stay before a flight!
  2. Went up to $97 ($120 including tax & fees) with no luck. Booked an advance payment (no refund) room at SpringHill Suites for $129. The extra $9 gets me: A room at a known hotel (no remodeling, etc.) A king sized bed Marriott Reward Points Ultimate Reward Points (4X points for hotels.com booking) One "stay" for Marriott status. Thanks for your help.
  3. Went up to $88 with no luck. Will think about it for a bit...
  4. I guess $90 for the base bid? Its never clear to me how much I'm paying in fees to PL. I just went up to $74 with no luck.
  5. > if i could get a room for $100 i wouldn't be wasting my points for this stay unless it was an insignificant number of points Agreed. > Also, do your plans need you to be in this immediate area Early flight on day of departure. Happy to pay for the convenience of an airport hotel. > Will you have a car? No Thanks for your ideas. I was also hoping a bidding strategy.
  6. Hi, I'd like some Priceline bidding advice for this itin: Date: 3/16/12 (one Night) Zone: EWR Travelers: 2 Free Rebid Zones: 4 [Newark (City) Secaucus, West Jersey, W. Orange] Similars Hilton Newark Airport: $109 Newark Liberty Int. Airport Marriott: $149 Hotwire: $92 Attempted (failed) Strategy using your PRICELINE link: $39, $45, $51, $57, $63 Given the added fees, these are getting fairly close to just booking a conventional room, so I have a backup reservation on points. Thanks for any advice! Robert
  7. Used your PRICELINE link. $49 MIA added Aventura, then $58 added Dadeland, then $67 added Miami West, then $70 Win.
  8. Used your link. Went up to $88 and no love. I think I'm done with PL on this one. Thanks for your help. Robert
  9. Thanks, that's very useful info. I should have mentioned that none of my prices included tax. The total including tax from Marriott is $125, so that ups the bids by $10 or so. Even so, it looks like I'm quickly approaching the point of diminishing returns. I personally wouldn't bother with Priceline to save less than, say, $15 per room, as I get slotted into "construction zone hotels" about 15% of the time... Robert
  10. Hi, I thought I'd try this forum. 1) Want hotel in: Miami International Airport (MIA) 2) Interested in: MIA Airport only 3) Check in: 12/2/11 (Friday night) 4) Check out: 12/3/11 5) Two rooms 6) 3.5 star 7) Lowest Advance Purchase rates from each hotel's website: $139 Doubletree Miami Mart Airport Hotel Sheraton NOT AVAILABLE!!! $172 Crowne Plaza $112 Marriott Miami Airport $139 Embassy Suites Miami Airport 8 ) Source website(s) of lowest available rates All from the listed hotels 9) free re-bidding zones Aventura Dadeland Miami West North Miami Southwest Miami 10) Pricing Have attempted up to $78 on Sunday with no success. Willing to go to $95, but need to do the math, as Marriott might be cheaper at $112 due to PL fees. 11) Yes, have read rules 12) Ready to bid Monday night 13) Will post bid. Will use link. Thanks, Robert
  11. Hi, I'm a refugee from another travel site. Used your PRICELINE link, first request ($44, 3*, Berkeley only) rejected. Added Oakland, $45, got downtown Oakland. Probably pricey parking, but I really can't complain: Room Subtotal: $90.00 (USD) Taxes and Fees: $18.64 (USD) Total Room Cost: $108.64 (USD)
