This hotel has been recently renovated and was very clean and compact (as many hotel rooms in NYC are). The room was small (about 8' x 16', if that), but I did have the smallest room on the floor (according to the evacuation plan), but since this was NY, I wasn't in the room very much. It was Fashion Week and a lot of French tourists (both in the hotel and around town), so prices were a little higher than normal. Check-in time is 3pm and they were hard to this timing (no rooms were ready until exactly 3pm...). Bed was confortable - A/C was a window unit, but wasn't too loud (being used to central air, I'm not used to an A/C unit, but it was definitely quieter than a lot of the older style units in older hotel rooms...) The hotel had a room service (never looked at the menu, but saw it being delivered one evening) and a small restaurant, though breakfast was $18+ - and there's a Dunkin Donuts across the street, and McDonald's and Burger King around the corner (these were the quick glances I saw - there were probably other places to eat for a quick and cheaper breakfast). Internet Access at the hotel was free (no login or charge). TV was new flat panel, but channels were in stretched Standard Definition - but did have NY1, along with the main local channels. The hotel was convenient less than 1 block from the #6 Subway Canal Street entrance, and is on the edge of both Chinatown (to the south) and Little Italy (to the east). Being the start of the Feast of San Gennaro, the Italian food in Little Italy was amazing, as were the cannolis, cheesecake and gelato... The direct access to the #6 train, as well as concourse access to the N, Q, R, J, and Z lines (a block away underground) made it very easy to get around town (granted you had to change trains...) - downtown to Battery Park, Uptown to Museum of Modern Art, and Uptown to Grand Central then over to Mets/Willets Point made this a great trip. The only downside was getting to Penn Station involved some back-tracking in the subway (mostly on foot) to get to my Amtrak train. Great trip, and great place to stay. Recommended - being away from the mid-town crowds and close access to great food.
