1. My wife, daughter, and some friends wanted to stay at the JW this weekend. Best rate on their website was $149. Saw a 4.5* Priceline.Express deal for $106 in Phoenix North. That means it was the JW. I knew I could probably undercut the $106 a bit so I bid $99 and won. Used the PRICELINE link here on this site, of course. Point of interest... the $149 best rate on their website included a $50 resort credit for food, etc. (Total would have been $195.35 with tax). But getting the room for $99 (total $117.34 with tax) was still a better deal because it saved $28 in tax. Of course, still gotta pay the $25 resort fee and $10 parking fee... :)
2. We needed a one night stay before our flight back home. We were already staying at the Marriott Vacation Club in Ko Olina, and I saw a Priceline.Express Deal 4 1/2* in the area for $219. Looking here on BetterBidding.com I knew it was the JW Marriott. I figured I could probably get it for a few dollars less than the Express Deal so I started bidding at $155 and added free re-bid zones until I got to $205 and it was accepted (used the PRICELINE link here). The best rate we could find online was $419, so we saved quite a bit. When we checked in they even gave us an Ocean View Room. Awesome location and posh hotel... it was a nice treat.
3. Needed an overnight stay in Phoenix as we are catching an early flight out of Sky Harbor Airport. I saw your coupon code of 10% for Express Deal and found a 3-Star Express Deal for $70. But first I tried bidding $55 in the Airport Zone and then added Tempe North but didn't win. Then went ahead with the Express Deal, with coupon it was $63. Used your PRICELINE link. Thanks!
4. A very last minute stay to celebrate our wedding anniversary... booked it from a bar on the Priceline mobile app sometime after midnight on 1/4/14 (sorry, I usually bid through this site!). Some friends with us wanted to go, too, so we bid on two rooms. I saw that Priceline had a PRICELINE EXPRESS deal in this vicinity for $88, but I decided to give it a shot and bid $69 and won on the first try. I actually expected it to be the Westin La Paloma. I was glad to get the Loews, as it is the only resort in the area we had never stayed at. Checked in around 4pm and the front desk gave us a complimentary upgrade to a Deluxe room since we were celebrating. They even upgraded our friends room! Had a great dinner at the Flying V Bar & Grill there.
5. The wife and I wanted a quick getaway to escape the Tucson heat while the kids are at summer camp. Started bid at $75. Was offered a guaranteed win at $96. Instead, I used free re-bid zones and tried $80, then won at $85. Best rate online was $174.25. Used the PRICELINE link here.
6. Bidding for a 3.5* in the Disneyland South / Garden Grove area. Started out at $58 and worked my way up to $72 with free rebid zones, but no luck. Came back 24 hours later and tried again at $74 and got this first time. Maybe I should have started a little lower, again! Used the BetterBidding PRICELINE link.
7. We need one night in the Disneyland area next week -- Tuesday, Oct 9th. Preferably the South/Garden Grove area. We've won the Crowne Plaza before, and I'm seeing others get it, the Sheraton and DoubleTree around this date for $58-$72. I started at $58 and worked my way up to $72 with free re-bid zones, but no bite. Is there something going on that day? I looked at the convention center website and there's nothing on their calendar for that day. Maybe I need to bid a few more $$ ?? Maybe it's because I'm only getting one night? Any thoughts? I will have to try again tomorrow as I am out of zones for the day. Thanks!
8. My in-laws are coming in town for July 4th so I looked for a place near us. All the resorts here have good deals in the summer. Priceline said the average rate for a resort was $89, which is about in line with my research. Started at $52, was rejected but was offered a free re-bid if I increased it to $62. I rejected that, added a free re-bid zone and increased bid to $55 and was accepted. (23% savings) The Westward Look usually has a really nice firework display on July 4th, Used BetterBidding PRICELINE link.
9. Started bidding at $37 and used free re-bid zones until bid of $45 was accepted. Used BetterBidding PRICELINE link, of course. Thanks for this website... I don't always post my results, but I always use it before bidding on Priceline!
10. Needed a place to stay on our way through town... actually only paid $38 as I had $5 Bonus Cash. Started around $35 and kept adding free re-bid zones. Very happy with the hotel -- a former Embassy Suites -- everything was newly remodeled. Very nice place and staff.
11. We are thinking about going to Flagstaff those same days. We actually stayed at this Courtyard on Oct. 7-8, 2009 and paid $58 via PRICELINE. It's a nice place.
12. After seeing some other wins here, I started bidding at $41. Here is the progression: Day 1 (Feb. 9) $41 rejected, added free re-bid zone, $43 rejected, added free re-bid zone, $44 rejected, added free re-bid zone, $45 rejected, ran out of free re-bid zones. Day 2 (Feb. 10) $46 rejected. Was offered an instant re-bid if I added $13. No way. So added free re-bid zone, $48 rejected, added free re-bid zone, $50 rejected, added free re-bid zone, $52 Accepted. Crowne Plaza Resort Anaheim 12021 Harbor Blvd Garden Grove, CA 92840 Check-In: Wednesday, February 25, 2009-04:00 PM Check-Out: Saturday, February 28, 2009-12:00 PM Room Cost (avg. per room, per night): $52.00 (USD) Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 3 Room Subtotal: $156.00 (USD) Taxes and Fees: $28.25 (USD) Total Room Cost: $184.25 (USD) It's a little more than I was hoping to pay, but I can't complain. I would rather have gotten some place that doesn't have the "resort" fee tacked on.
13. Well, it was actually $35, but I had $10 in PRICELINE Bonus Cash. Started bidding on a 2-1/2* at $22 (+ $10 bonus) and was rejected. Used free rebid at $25 (+ $10 bonus) and was "upgraded" to the Thunderbird Suites Hotel. First of all, this is not really a 3*. It is a 2-1/2*. But since it has a bar and a restaurant (that is open occasionally) it gets listed as a 3*. Not sure why they keep a restaurant and bar there. It is so close to SO many restaurants and bars, there's no need to stay and eat/drink at the hotel. The hotel is located at the Scottsdale Airport, but we never heard any planes. It's also very close to the Kierland shopping area. I was a little concerned about this place after reading some reviews around the web. But we had a pleasant stay. It was very quiet and mostly empty as this is the slow season in Arizona. The rooms are huge (separate living/work area with a door to the bedroom), but the bathrooms are small. The room includes a desk, sleeper sofa, microwave, coffee maker, small refrigerator, utensils, plates, cups, etc. There is free wi-fi in the rooms and lobby as well as a couple of computers and printers in the lobby for your use. There is a carb-only continental breakfast (sweet rolls, muffins, toast/bagels, cereal, biscuits, canned fruit, yogurt, coffee, milk, juice). But you can order eggs and such for an extra charge. All in all, it met our needs and we couldn't beat the price.
14. On July 24 made first bid of $35. Rejected. Added 2* and increased bid to $39. Rejected. Waited until July 26 to try again. Bid $42. Rejected, but was given the offer of increasing bid by $12. So, I bid $54 and was accepted. Springhill Suites Las Cruces 2
15. I'm taking the wife and kids to San Diego to escape the Tucson heat for a few days! I decided on the Del Mar area and saw that some other folks had won the Doubletree for $60. So.... Started at $50. Rejected. Added East. City for a free re-bid of $55. Rejected. Added Escondido for a free re-bid of $60. Accepted! Got the Doubletree! It has free parking and has great reviews here and on TripAdvisor, so I'm very pleased with the win. With taxes, it comes out to $277.17 for four nights. The best rate I could find for it was $161 a night. That's a savings of over 62%. Not too shabby!
16. Got an excellent rate through Hotwire and had a great time at this resort. Much nicer than a typical Sheraton -- more like a Westin. Highly recommended!
17. Just got a one night stay at the Omni Tucson for $89. I've been trying for a week or so to get a one-night getaway for our 9th wedding anniversary this coming Friday. I started bidding today at $70, and did my free re-bids at $75, $80, $85 and finally won at $89. The lowest rate I could find on their website was $289, so I'm very happy with my win. This is peak tourism season so it's tough to get a good rate here. I'm also an Omni Hotels Select Guest and have a Complimentary Room Upgrade certificate. I kind of doubt I can use it, but I'll try and see what happens.
18. I'm trying to get a resort here in Tucson for our 9th wedding anniversary. I started at $60 and worked my way up to $70, but was rejected. This is peak tourism time in Tucson, so it may be difficult to get a good deal. Someone is keeping our kids overnight, so we want to take advantage of that alone time!! So I'll try again in a few days.
19. I think the bidding went something like this: $55 Tucson Central -- rejected $58 Added Tucson Airport (TUS) -- rejected $61 Added North Tucson -- rejected $65 Added Tucson East -- rejected $68 Added La Paloma - Ventana Canyon -- Accepted
20. I was originally shooting for the Omni, but after many re-bids I wound up adding the West and got the Hyatt Regency Hill Country. I had heard some negative things about the resort lately, as they are refurbishing at the moment. A few days before we arrived, I faxed the resort requesting a king-size bed and a non-smoking room. I also mentioned that we were celebrating our anniversary that weekend. When we arrived, they had put us in a newly refurbished suite! (it was going for $415 a night that weekend!) The room and the resort were awesome. It's the off-season, so the place seemed almost deserted. The wife and I had a great meal there at the Antler's Lodge -- and they even gave us two free desserts in honor of our anniversary. FYI: I got banned from TOBB the day after I posted my results there. I have no idea why!! I guess it's good riddance to them, and I'll be sticking to BetterBidding.com from now on!!!
21. We're going to Tucson that same weekend (March 4-6). A 2 1/2 * would be fine for us, as well. Encouraged by your success, I started bidding at PL. By the time I had used all my free re-bids, I was up to $60 without any success. I'll try again in 72 hours!
