  1. Just a brief update: I am now in the midst of my Millennium Hotel stay, and it's been absolutely lovely. Will post a longer review when I return from travel, but suffice it to say I've had great customer service and my room was tidy, clean, and looked exactly like the advertised pictures. Examples of the great customer service: the front desk guy and my hotel restaurant waiter recommended the same dish (the smokehouse burger) and not only was it fantastic, they brought it from the kitchen in 10 minutes flat. I asked this morning for the front desk to call me a taxi, and they asked me how far I was going, and when I stated my destination just a mile or so away they paged the hotel's shuttle bus driver to take me there. Regarding rebids, I doubt that's in the purview of this particular forum. Pretty sure we're supposed to stick to discussing our bids and hotel. Sorry.
  2. Initially started bidding for 3.5* and up. knew I was playing with fire since there was no Saturday stayover and there's an NCAA tourney in town that weekend, but I had rebids to spare so I started at $41 (based on recon from this forum) and crept up $1 at a time. All signs pointed to a possible 3.5*/4* win at $68-$69/night. I was offered the "if you will raise your bid right now to $78/night, you can rebid" at bids of $55, $57, $59, $61, $63, $65. In my (very) anecdotal experience, the actual tipping point on these "raise offers' is often just over half the proposed raise amount. Which is how I posted the win at $68-$69/night. So at a failed 3.5*/4* bid of $67/night, I took a moment to re-evaluate. For about $65 less across the course of the whole stay, I was willing to risk getting the poorly reviewed 3* Millennium Hotel. I went to Hotwire and suspected that I saw Millennium Hotel there for $53/night, so I went back to Priceline and (lazily) bid 3* at $51. Won on first bid. Makes me wonder if I overpaid but I'm not going to be ungrateful. Will report back about my Millennium Hotel experience; I am not a very particular traveller but the reviews are all over the place.
  3. Bid for same-day checkin. Research on this forum suggested I might nab this hotel as cheaply as $32 but since I was bidding for same day checkin and that meant I had only about 4 rebid opportunities, I ended up at $35. Final deal $35 per night, Taxes $19 for two nights, total $89, breaks down to $44.50 per night. Can't remember the exact rack rate but definitely over $100/night. Very happy with this deal!
  4. Bid on this a few weeks ago but forgot to post it. Reasonably pleased with this deal--I usually Priceline into the 2* hotels across State Street from this hotel, but I'll be at a busy academic conference and I decided to treat myself to a better bed!
  5. Ann Arbor - West zone for 10/23 (one night) Listed amenities: Laundry After taxes: $60.13 Very pleased with this booking. I used to live in Ann Arbor and the Extended StayAmerica is in a nice, safe, quiet hotel district near the interstate. I usually do PRICELINE instead of HOTWIRE, but I had a Hotwire $20 off rebate from Entertainment Book that made this a better deal than PRICELINE.
  6. Tried $31 bid for 2* and up based on previous posts here. Bid failed but was given one-time opportunity to rebid at $39. I chose to come back the next day and bid $35 at 2* level, got the Days Inn. I'm pleased!
  7. Accepted on first bid for same day checkin (5/2). $46.82 after taxes. Rack rate was $59 + taxes. Nice hotel, very clean, nicer than may 2.5* hotels I've stayed at. Continental breakfast was awesome, very extensive and all fresh. Our room had an LCD TV. The fan in the hotel room was VERY loud, so bring earplugs.
