  1. I know I have changed my mind continually but I have finally got something! Ended up following original advice and staying in Hollywood. Got the W Hollywood for $120, really happy with that, looks super funky. The webiste has it for $380, so I definatley come out ahead. I just couldn't justify the full prices on Santa Monica. The W has a pool and I have an imagination, thats good enough. Thanks everyone for all the help, and of course I used the PRICELINE links provided!
  2. I have been doing some looking (using your links of course) and I was thinking the Georgan or Le Merigot. Any opnions on those? I want to be really close to the beach. :)
  3. Ended up going with the 4.5* and it was the Intercontinental. I got it for $123, so I'm pretty happy. I was trying priceline but wasn't having any luck.
  4. I've been having a bit of a think and have changed my mind, think I really want to stay at Santa Monica. I think I will just suck it up and pay full price. Its only for 3 days, it won't kill me.
  5. I didn't realise the metro didn't go there, glad I asked. Will probably aim for hollywood then, with downtown as a backup. I appreciate the help. :)
  6. Hi everyone, I'm travelling to LA on the 27th and checking out on the 30th. I don't know LA that well, and I'm after some location advice. I would love to stay out at Santa Monica, but it seems quite expensive out there and I don't want Marina Del Ray, which I think has a few threads going at the moment. So I was looking at Beverly Hill area, as that seemed alright in the PRICELINE blurb. I won't have a car, so need to be centralish. Moving onto Anaheim after this, so mainly looking to just do the normal touristy things in LA. Any suggestions on which areas are appropriate? I'm looking at 4* and willing to spend up to $150 a night, but so far have only bid up to $120. Thanks Rebecca (I'm still trying for San Francisco so can't close that thread!)
  7. I ended up with the Angonquin for $180. Not the best bargain around, probably would have been better on HOTWIRE. I just lost patience and upped my PRICELINE bid. Seems central, so thats good.
  8. Started bidding at $60, then tried $70 and it was accepted. Pretty happy with that, I love the Westin. Their website is saying $199 for the same nights. :)
  9. Still trying, have only been going up to $125 because I figure I have time to be tight.
  10. And at the risk of pushing my luck, would the 4.5* USE for the same dates thats $149 with fitness centre, resteraunts, business centre, and high speed internet access be the Intercontinantal?
  11. I was wondering if someone could help me identify the following hotel: Checking in 21 August and checking out August 25, for 2 adults. $89 a night. Has fitness centre, business centre, resteraunts, and high speed internet. Reccomended in 80% of customer reviews, 4* on trip advisor. Thanks for your help.
  12. Thanks for the infor, will definately try those pancakes!
  13. I started bidding at $60 and used the dud rezones to rebid my price by $5 to $80, which was my max. I was hoping for the Westin or Intercontinental, but I'm sure this one will be great. Never been to Chicago before, so it looks nice and central.
  14. I put in a bid for 5* strip north for $85 and they come back with $94, which I accepted. Pretty happy with that, never been to Vegas before, hope the Venetian is good.
  15. Willing to try the other zones, such as ESB and CPS if you guys think thats central enough for the average tourist. If I can get a hotel for that amount of time I'd probably prefer not to change, I'm pretty lazy! I guess I'm after *s first, location second, and price third. And ideas what I should start bidding at for what zones? I really apprectiate your help. I didn't realise it was low season then.
  16. Hi everyone, I've never used priceline and I'm so glad there's this awesome forum to help me work out how to do it. I'm going to New York for the first time and looking at staying in a central area (TS, MTE, MTW). I'm after 4* and my max budget is $150 a night, which I guess won't include the charges (how much are they?). My dates are checking in August 3 and checking out August 11. I'm thinking perhaps I should change location half way through, but I'm open to opinions on that.
