  1. Utilised the savingbarns.com link Based on advice / recent successful results from this site: Commenced bidding $48. Recieved request to increase by $14. Subsequently got hotel with free re bids at $57 for 5 nights (10/9-10/14). Many thanks to thereuare / everyone for their invaluable advice. Cheers
  2. Similar to other recent winning bids: Your Offer Price: $55.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 3 Subtotal: $165.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $32.40 Total Charges: $197.40 Previously submitted unsucessful bid was $53. Many thanks for the help afforded from all.
  3. Hey guys, Again many thanks for your feedback. Having re reviewed the successful bids - you were very right. $40-50 for downtown or coastal was WAY under. We ended up settling on Mission Valley and had a few bid attempts as below based on successful bids. Bid $40, rejected added re-bid zone... Bid $43, rejected added re-bid zone... Bid $45, rejected added re-bid zone... Bid $50, rejected. Again "hoping" maybe this is because its still early. Will again give it some time and try again.
  4. Hey All, Apologies it has taken so long to get back here and post and again, my thanks to everyone for there advice / suggestions. So got started last night on the bidding strategy as suggested by thereuare. Bid 3* Disney area: Commenced bidding $35, rejected added re-bid zone... Bid $38, rejected added re-bid zone... Bid $42, rejected added re-bid zone... Bid $45, rejected added re-bid zone... Bid $48, again rejected. Unfortunately a similar lack of success was encountered with SD. "Hoping" / wondering at this stage if perhaps this is the result of maybe bidding a little early? I note most other successful bids at present are still for late August / early September. May wait a while and try again. In any case - many thanks for everyones support. Cheers
  5. Hi All, Planning a trip for friends in October and aiming to start the bidding process for the whole trip Thursday US time. Have recieved strategy already for Disneyland and await San Diego / Las Vegas/ San Francisco in other threads. Below is the final stop on the trip. Trip details: Accomodation in all cases will be for 2 adults & 2 children (ages 10 & 11) who are quite capable of sharing a double bed together. (I would appreciate if anyone percieves any problems with this number of people in a single room in LA they let me know) Also happy to use either PL or Hotwire pending advice from the experts on this board. 22nd - 24th October (inclusive) - Los Angeles. Finishing the trip back where it started. Will have a car here and just plan to visit Magic Mountain, Universal Studios, etc. Preferably would like to stay in the Beverly Hills / West Hollywood zone. 3-4* at a budget of around $70per / night. Many thanks in advance for any advice / suggestion / bidding strategies / etc that anyone can provide and my humblest appreciation to everyone who has contributed to any of my requests for assistance. Cheers
  6. Hi All, Planning a trip for friends in October and aiming to start the bidding process for the whole trip Thursday US time. Have recieved strategy already for Disneyland and await San Diego / Las Vegas in other threads. Below is part 4 of the trip. Trip details: Accomodation in all cases will be for 2 adults & 2 children (ages 10 & 11) who are quite capable of sharing a double bed together. (I would appreciate if anyone percieves any problems with this number of people in a single room in SF they let me know) Also happy to use either PL or Hotwire pending advice from the experts on this board. 19th - 21st October (inclusive) - San Francisco. Again another area which I have not been to in many years and only stayed briefly when I was there. Plan is just to do the "touristy" things - Alcatraz, Fisherman Wharf, city tour, etc. As such would be interested in a centrally located hotel (I assume with in USW USE or Fisherman Wharfs region?). Would appreciate any advice on where the best area to stay would be. Budget - "hoping" for $60-70 a night. Many thanks in advance for any advice / suggestion / bidding strategies / etc that anyone can provide. Cheers
  7. Hello Again All, Planning a trip for friends in October and aiming to start the bidding process for the whole trip Thursday US time. Have recieved strategy already for Disneyland and await San Diego in another thread. Below is part 3 of the trip. Trip details: Accomodation in all cases will be for 2 adults & 2 children (ages 10 & 11) who are quite capable of sharing a double bed together. (I would appreciate if anyone percieves any problems with this number of people in a single room in either the 4 star options or Venetian they let me know). Also happy to use either PL or Hotwire pending advice from the experts on this board. 16th - 18th October (inclusive) - Las Vegas. Yet again not overly fussed other than wanting something centrally located and on the strip. Probably most confused about this component of the trip. Would be happy with a 4* property (Luxor, MGM Grand, NYNY, etc, I dont know alot about Treasure Island / Alladin?) at a budget of around ? $80per/night but have read that some advise against using PL for 4* LV Hotels? Would also (of course) be willing to pay the $99 which has occassionally gone off for the Venetian (Although again wondering about any issues associated with the 4 per room?). ANY help here greatly appreciated. Many thanks in advance for any advice / suggestion / bidding strategies / etc that anyone can provide. Cheers
  8. Hello Again All, Planning a trip for friends in October and aiming to start the bidding process for the whole trip Thursday US time. Have recieved strategy already for Disneyland, below is part 2 of the trip. Trip details: Accomodation in all cases will be for 2 adults & 2 children (ages 10 & 11) who are quite capable of sharing a double bed together. (I would appreciate if anyone percieves any problems with this number of people in a single room in any of the cities they post this also). Also happy to use either PL or Hotwire pending advice from the experts on this board. 14th - 15th October (inclusive) - San Diego. Will at this stage have a car and plans for the two days to include a visit to the Zoo (15th) and Sea World (16th) before departing San Diego Airport for Las Vegas the night of the 16th. Not overly familiar with hotels in this area but would assume I would be bidding in the "San Diego Coastal" or "Downtown SD" areas? Once again would like to budget around the $40-50 dollar range for a 3* or higher. Many thanks in advance for any advice / suggestion / bidding strategies / etc that anyone can provide. Cheers
  9. Many thanks thereuare and bbbb. Will undertake the recommended bidding strategy over the next few days via the savingbarn link and let you know the outcome. Many thanks also on the Alcatraz tip.
  10. G'day thereuare / everyone, Previous PL user (From Australia) and long time viewer of this amazing board, hoping to get some assistance / advice with some bidding strategies for accomodation in Disneyland and several other areas (San Diego, Las Vegas, San Francico & Los Angeles). (Please note I have posted the entirity here however are happy to move any section to other areas if this is more convenient or break it up). My apologies that it is so long. OK so the trip details: Accomodation in all cases will be for 2 adults & 2 children (ages 10 & 11) who are quite capable of sharing a double bed together. (I would appreciate if anyone percieves any problems with this number of people in a single room in any of the cities they post this also). Also happy to use either PL or Hotwire pending advice from the experts on this board. 9th October - 13th October 2005 (inclusive) - Disneyland. Hoping to budget here on around $40-50per/night for a hotel in the 3/4* range. Optimally would like something "within walking distance" of the Main Entrance but appreciate from these forums the complexities associated with this as well as the inability to choose an exact hotel via PL. "Optimally" or in a perfect world would be ecstatic with something like the Howard Johnson (which seems close and has outstanding reviews) but believe this is a ?? 2* and that bidding on this property via PL is likely not without significant risk. Again as stated earlier, would be happy to recieve any advice on the best way of obtaining a "good" hotel here via either PL or Hotwire. Effectively Im ready to begin booking immediately or are willing to wait if you all think it is likely to result in a better result. Cheers
