  1. So I made a PRICELINE bid for the same date, location and star level using the board's links, and for $100 got the Omni. Wish I had rechecked HOTWIRE again before making the bid as I just noticed this same amenity set is available now for $109. Oh well.
  2. Since it was a little last minute and the rack rate was $249, I began with a $100 bid and was accepted immediately. Wish I had started off lower!! Used the boards price line link of course. Thanks for the info as always!
  3. Thanks for the info - I'm going to think about it for a bit and will update when I book something!
  4. Hi guys, I'm looking into reserving a room in Pittsburgh for the night of 9/22 and hotwire has one 4* offering downtown at $163 with the following amenities: Fitness Center, Restaurant(s), Business Center, High-Speed Internet Access, Accessible for the deaf, Free Internet , Accessible path of travel, In-room accessibility, Accessible bathroom, Handicapped parking, Roll-in shower and a 95% tripadvisor rating. Any ideas if it's the Westin without the Pool amenity, or the Renaissance or Omni without the Spa amenity? Also, any ideas how much a priceline bid for the same kind of deal might be, if hotwire is showing at $163? Any help gratefully received :)
  5. Just booked this hotel via the boards PRICELINE links. Started at $47 and used rebid zones for $50 and then the winning $52. Sweet deal B)
  6. Hi everyone, Using all your helpful info and the board's hot-wire link, I just got the Allegro hotel for $174 a night, 05/30-06/01. Features: boutique hotel, fitness centre, hi speed internet, restaurant and business centre, with 95% positive reviews and 4.5 trip advisor rating. Not a huge saving from kimpton's own rate, but still pretty pleased :)
  7. Started optimistically bidding $40 through $80 using rebid zones (and the board's PRICELINE link of course), 4* then 3 1/2*, no joy. Had a look at regular published rates, panicked a bit that a lot of options were sold out, went back and rebid $70 - 85 for downtown, all stars, and got the apparently 2* Holiday Inn Medical Center - a new one for the list. Seems to get positive reviews and includes free breakfast although not as downtown as I would've liked... :)
  8. First bid of $40 was met with "if you increase your bid to $53 we have a deal for you" response, but I went back and used free re-bid zones. $44 was rejected, $46 accepted for the Hyatt. Used the PRICELINE link from here too. Thanks for the info as always.
  9. Using the PRICELINE link on this site, and spurred on by reports of reasonably priced wins for the Trump International, I started off with a bid of $70 a night for 09/03-09/05. Went up in $5-10 increments using rebid zones and also including Strip North and Strip South, eventually got the Trump for $130. Slightly more than I would've liked but not complaining! Thanks for the tips as always.
  10. Super happy to report getting the Allegro via the bettebidding HOTWIRE link for 08/12 - 08/14
  11. Just booked the Hotel Rouge for $93 9/10-9/11 through the HOTWIRE link on this site. Very pleased! Amenities: Boutique, Restaurant, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business
  12. well, i took the chance and it turned out to be the Palomar after all! yay! $99 Hotel Palomar 9/06 - 9/08 4* Fitness, Pool, Restaurant, Business, Internet thanks for your help guys :)
  13. ahh yes, sorry! like i said, i'm still a bit new to all of this... but that's exactly what I'm seeing as well. I'm thinking the 4* is either the Omni or the Palomar and the 4.5* the Fairfax? I was wondering if though all the hotwire information for the 4* appears exactly the same for both the Oni and the Plomar, it might more likely be the Palomar as Omni wins haven't been reported here for a while but the palomar has cropped up a lot lately? And can any clues be gained from the rack rates currently on sites like Expedia? The Omni is at $99 for these dates and the Palomar $159... Thanks for your help :)
  14. I'm a bit of a newbie at HOTWIRE though I've used PRICELINE for some time now and just about got the hang of it... I am looking at HOTWIRE to book a 4* for 2 nights 09/06 - 9/08 and preferably in the Dupont Circle area. Hotwire has 2 hotels for these criteria, one at $99 with a fitness centre, pool, restaurant, business centre and hi speed internet (Omni? Palomar?) and the other a 4 1/2* for $159 with the same features but also "boutique" and "tennis nearby". Anyone have any idea which one this might be? Isn't the Palomar considered "boutique"? I'd really really like to stay there and it's on Expedia at $159 a night....I'm wondering if the $99 on Hotwire is the Palomar although confused as it doesnt have the "boutique" feature? Any help or advice would be much appreciated :)
  15. Started at $70 for 4 star in Dupont Cirlce and upped to $90 with rebid zones. Kinda hoping for the Palomar but nevermind!
  16. Initially bid $80, they said if i increased by $22 I could re bid, tried $100, got the omni. Does anyone know how the long "extend by one night at this price" option stays open for? I may want to do that but my plans won't be finalised til next week.
