  1. I won this on my first bid for $60. I always click on your link to PRICELINE here before bidding. I was surprised to win the Holiday Inn because it wasn't on the list but I knew it was possible because it was in the area. I thought I would win the Crowne Plaza in Fairfield as that was the only 3* on the list but now you can add this to the list. The Holiday Inn was nice and the lowest online rate was $110 so $60 was great. I wanted a hotel with a pool for the kids but the pool was closed as it was an outdoor pool. The room was very nice and they upgraded me to a room with 2 double beds and a view of the city on the 5th floor. There was a fridge in the room and they gave me a microwave at no extra charge. The shuttle was great, they drove the kids to the mall and me to my meetings. I'm so grateful to have Priceline. I can't afford the best available online rate the hotels charge.
  2. 3* Westchester County (Rye-White Plains) Crowne Plaza, $60 ... 8/4/10-8/5/10 I stayed at the 3.5* Renaissance Westchester at the end of July and the very next week I had to go back to White Plains. I bid on 3* hotels in White Plains because I wanted a better price and location. I was hoping to win the Crowne Plaza. I saw a hotel on Hotwire that matched the Crowne Plaza for $75 so I thought I had a good chance of winning it. Before I started bidding I checked the website for the 3 *Residence Inn in White Plains and they were sold out. I was glad they were sold out because I didn't want to win that hotel because they don't have a pool and my daughter wanted a pool. I then went to your website to access Priceline. My first bid was $60 and I won the Crowne Plaza. The hotel website price was $199. I was very happy with the price of $60 and the hotel was much more centrally located right in the middle of White Plains. It was close to where I needed to be. The week before, the Renaissance was hard to find and I had to go around in circles to get there and I vowed to never go back there because of the location even though the hotel was beautiful. The Crowne Plaza was renovating the Lobby so it didnt look that great but I was happy with the price of $60 and the location. The room was very nice. They gave me a room with two double beds no problem and they gave me a rollaway bed for free. Parking was $10 but in and out is free with your room key. The parking lot entrance is in the same driveway as the hotel driveway and you can drop your bags first on a gold rolling cart before parking. There is an entrance to the hotel lobby in the parking lot so its very convienent. They had a free shuttle to the train station and the airport. We took the train from White Plains into Grand Central and the kids loved it. The pool was ok and the kids loved the mall nearby and McDonald's around the corner. Free coffee in the Lobby. If I was traveling to White Plains again I would stay at the Crowne Plaza and not try for Tarrytown or the 3.5 star hotels because of the location, the free shuttle and the low price. Thanks for your bidding help and I always come to this site to access PRICELINE.
  3. 3.5* Westchester County (Rye-White Plains) , Renaissance Westchester $120 ... 7/27/10-7/29/10 I bid up to $90 for a 3.5* hotel in White Plains and didnt win so I switched to bidding on 3.5* star hotels in Tarrytown..I always used your website to access Price.ine. I bid up to $90 in Tarrytown with no luck. I then switched back to bidding on 3.5* in White Plains because I had 2 more bids left. I finally won a 3.5* in White Plains for $120 per night for 2 nights. I won the Renaissance Westchester which was really nice. I requested a room with 2 double beds with the hotel by phone and they were fine with it. I asked for a room with a view of the woods and they gave me a room with a beautiful view. They had a nice pool and hot tub and great fire pits outside on the patio. The kids roasted marshmallows. The only problem was the hotel was hard to find even with mapquest instructions. You have to drive around four circles to get there so I don't think I would ever go back there but the kids loved all the activities...tennis, volleyball, horeshoes, swimming, and the fire pits. 3* Westchester County (Rye-White Plains) Crowne Plaza, $60 ... 8/4/10-8/5/10 The very next week I had to go back to White Plains and I bid on 3* hotels in White Plains. 4. You gave me some great advice in the past and Im back for more. I need a room in White Plains for 2 nights on July 27 and 28....I want to bid on 3.5 star hotels in White Plains. I would like to win the Hilton Rye Town with all the trees or the Renaissance. I understand that I might get a new hotel not listed on the board. I'm not sure when I should start bidding...is it better to wait until Sunday night...also...what should I start the bidding at...$75 or more? I have a bidding strategy with the 3 rebid zones that dont have 3.5 star hotels. Im just not sure of the amount to start at and when I should start bidding. The AAA rate on the website for the Hilton Ryetown for the nights I want is $185 per night. The Renaissance is $179. Here is my bidding strategy for White Plains which I based on the strategy you gave me for Times Square last year. Does it look right. any advice...thanks Select 3.5* Rye White Plains... I dont want a 3* hotel in White Plains because there is a hotel listed (Residence Inn) that doesnt have a pool and I would like a pool for my daughter. thanks
  5. I used the PRICELINE link on your board on Wednesday night and I put in a bid of $75 on a 3 star hotel in West Orange, NJ and it failed. I waited 24 hours and made sure to use your PRICELINE link again to put in a bid of $100 on 3 stars in West Orange and I won the Courtyard Marriott in West Orange. I really wanted that hotel because it was just a few miles from my seminar and it was right next to a shopping mall. I ended up bringing my teenage daughter and my neice and they went shopping while I was gone. It worked out well. The hotel gave me an upgrade to a room with 2 queen size beds at no extra charge. I saved about $100 with PRICELINE for the 2 nights. It really was a great deal. Thank you for your advice.
  6. I wanted to wait until it was closer to Friday to bid, just to make sure that I could leave town.. I have 2 teenagers at home and "stuff happens"..Now that it's getting closer to Friday, I'm ready to bid. Since priceline bookings are not cancellable, I wanted to wait and bid at the latest possible date. I don't have any free re-bid zones so I can only bid once every 24 hours.
  7. I set up a reservation that I can cancel up to 6pm day of arrival if I win on Priceline. I was thinking of waiting until 2 days before and trying $70 and then $90 the night before. What do you think. I don't want a commitment until I'm 100% sure that I'm going.
  8. I think $90 per night is the highest I am willing to go. Thank you for any advice you can give me. Janie
  9. The two 3* hotels in West Orange, NJ are the Marriott Courtyard and the Wilshire Grand. The best rate I can find on the Internet for these hotels are around $150 a night for 5/7-5/9. What amount do you think I should bid since I can only bid once per day?
  10. I would like to bid on priceline on a 3* hotel in West Orange, NJ for next weekend Friday and Saturday night 5/7-5/9. I dont see any re-bid zones for this. All the other areas have 3* hotels. How can I bid more than once when there are no rebid zones?
  11. I finally updated the other thread from November on priceline. On April 3, I didn't go for this HOTWIRE deal but I did end up bidding on priceline using your PRICELINE link. I used the bidding strategy that you had given me back in November. I ending up winning the Millenium Broadway or $180. I bid on it the night before so it was last minute. On their website the rooms were going for $299. I sent them an email the night before we arrived asking for a room on a high floor with a view of Times Square and they emailed me back and said they would give me an upgrade if they had it available. They said, What you booked via PRICELINE was a standard room which is found from our 16th to 27th floors of our main tower, but if we have a Times Square view room available, we will provide you one. They gave us a beautiful corner room on the 46th with a view. We really loved it. Thank you for the bidding stategy you gave me in November. It worked great in April. Janie
  12. I ended up seeing a special rate of $199 per night at Millenium Broadway on Travelzoo, so we booked that. Thanks for your help.
  13. Im looking for a room in times square for tomorrow night 4/3/2010 and I searched hotwire and a 3.5* hotel is available for $215 with the amenities of ...internet, restaurant, business, and fitness....the tripadvisor rating is 4* for 85% of the reviews...I thought it was Millenium Broadway but that only has 4* on tripadvisor for 81% of the reviews. What hotel do you think it is?
  14. What about Friday night 11/13/09 for Times Square 3.5*? Do you think they would have better luck going on Friday night instead of Saturday. thanks
  15. I clicked on the PRICELINE link in your reply and found that there are 3 zones in NYC that dont have 3.5* hotels. They are: Chelsea, Upper East Side, and Long Island City. I will use these 3 zones as my re-bid zones if my bids are rejected. Thanks you for the info.
  16. Yes, Times Square is the only zone they're willing to accept....I also see that there are other 3.5* hotels on the list that I could receive and I understand that I could receive a hotel not yet reported to the board. I could also receive an upgrade to 4* which would be great.
  17. Hi...I would like to bid on a hotel room for Saturday night 11/14/09...it's for my niece and she wants to stay near times square....I would like to try for the 3.5 star hotels in time square... Marriott ... Millenium ...Sheraton. Their budget is $150 -200... Could you suggest a bidding strategy for time square 3.5*... thank you
