  1. It seems to me that London now has no free rebid zones for 4 star hotels on PRICELINE.

I am travelling to L. Eng. March 6th to March 15th prefering not to stay at the THISTLE MARBLE ARCH ( was in L. Eng. in August and stayed at the TMA: found it old, musty and with a downcast vibe!) And what i see on the message board is that it (TMA) seems to be the only one coming up for bidders in the 50-80 price range.

So, i want to stay in the Mayfair Soho area - the intention is to be within a 15 minutes walk of the Sofitel Hotel where my course is ( near Piccadily square ).

Any suggestions? Would bidding $85.00 - $90.00 dollars in the Mayfair Soho 4 star zone increase my chances at a better different hotel? Or would I just end up paying $$85.00- $90.00 for the TMA?

  2. My parents just returned from San Francisco where they stayed in the HILTON on O'Farrell for 4 nights (which i booked for them on Priceline). It seemed to be a busy night for the hotel and my parents received a close to the ground suite overlooking a rooftop and the backs of a bunch of buidlings: as depressing as a view could be. I believe the term is getting 'Pricelined' I suggested they ask for a change of rooms and the HILTON moved them to a new room within 5 minutes - 35th floor with a suite overlooking the whole city and the bay. Spectacular!. They could not have been happier.

  3. I just reserved the 4* Grand Hyatt on Priceline (going through www.savingsbarn.com) i am very happy :) - the hotel looks pretty nice!

    Did i do ok??

My bidding strategy was as follows:

Bid #1: $69 USE - rejected but PL counteroffered at $22 more.

Bid #2: $72 added free rebid (cathedral hill) - rejected

Bid #3: $75 added free rebid (civic center) - ACCEPTED

  4. Hi, thereuare, i hope to have remedied the e-mail problem. I have the same questions,

can you tell me why the previous poster paid $88.00 for the same hotel, but you thought i overbid at $85.00?

Now going through http://www.savingsbarn.com I am now going to bid on PRICELINE for a hotel for Dec. 16-Dec. 18th same area of San Francisco USE and USW preferably not on Nob Hill. Any advise how to test both USE and USW area's. Can you tell me how to best approach this in contrast to my last approach?

    Thank-you for your help.

  5. I regret adding USW! :) i had the three days to wait and try again! i know that that Nob Hill is no joke! She is STEEP!! Though who knows what adventure awaits me at this new hotel i have not stayed at before. :)

My bidding strategy was as follows: 4* San Francisco (USE) Hilton

Bid #1: $78 USE - rejected but PL counteroffered at $22 more.

Bid #2: $80 USE added free rebid (cathedral hill) - rejected

Bid #3: $85 USE added free rebid (civic center) - rejected

Bid #4: $87 USE added free rebid (south san fran) - rejected (see below)

Bid #5: $85 USE & USW added free rebid (added USE area) - ACCEPTED (see below)

  6. I am trying to get 6 nights at a *4 in San Francisco in December. My wish is to have 3 nights in USE area and 3 nights in USW area. Below was my first attempt in the USE area - (fingers crossed for the Hyatt Regency). No luck so far. My bids seem to be in line with other bidders wins! :)

    Bid #1: $65 USE - rejected

Bid #2: $70 added free rebid (cathedral hill) - rejected

Bid #3: $75 added free rebid (civic center) - rejected

Bid #4: $77 added free rebid (south san fran) - rejected

  7. I just purchaced 4 nights (for my parents) in mid December at the Hilton in San Francisco.

i bid $70.00 (and was offered a chance if i increased my bid by $22.00), i bid then $75.00 (which was rejected) then i bid $80.00 & was accepted. I see alot of other people on this board getting the Hilton in the $74.00 -$80.00 range. I was hoping for the Hotel Nikko next door - which has the greatest bathrooms! Either way this seems a decent price for the Union Square location.
