  1. Thanks. If those other properties are in play as 3*, I may just book directly as Bally's would be the only other 3* I would be interested in.
  2. I'll be in Las Vegas 12/26/12/31. I'm hoping to get Bill's Gambling Hall on Priceline. Bill's website quotes an average of $138 for the five nights. What should I start my bidding at? The PL hotel list shows Bill's as the only 3* in this Strip South zone. I know there's always a risk in bidding, but has anybody reporting other 3* properties in Strip South? Thanks!
  3. I am looking for advice for a one night stay (Oct. 8) in Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena area as I will be flying in and out of Burbank airport. Would like to bid on at least 3* property. What is reasonable to bid?
  4. I just went ahead and successfully booked those two nights on Hotwire (via savingsbarn.com) at $144 per night. Regardless, the average for my six night stay with successful PL bid of $71 for first four nights comes out to under $100 before taxes, so I'm happy. I really appreciate your help! Any problem with the hotel in booking a stay with separate PL and Hotwire reservations? I assume they'll give me the same room throughout.
  5. My bid of $115 for 9/3-9/5 was just rejected. Any advice on future strategy?
  6. I checked Hotwire today in anticipation of re-bidding on PL later today and found Hyatt increased from $146 to $172. Do you still advise bidding $115? How about a split if $115 is rejected?
  7. I took a chance and tried $105, but it was rejected. Hopefully, the $115 will still be available when I re-bid in 72 hours.
  8. I just saw 3.5 hotel down to $146 on Hotwire (via savingsbarn.com) for 9/3 and 9/4 for last two nights of my stay. What bidding advice can you give for Priceline?? Thanks!
  9. Now, I would also like to bid for these two additional nights for JC Hyatt, 9/3 and 9/4. These 2 nights yesterday showed at $164 on Hotwire. What would be a successful bid on Priceline? I know it will be higher due to Labor Day weekend, but since $71 bid was successful for 8/30-9/3, would like to try to stay in same hotel. Again, thanks!
  10. Great--$71 was accepted for all four nights for JC Hyatt!! (I didn't bother to split) Since I didn't think I could get JC Hyatt this low, I was orginally going to switch to another hotel for two additional nights. Now, I would also like to bid for these two additional nights for JC Hyatt, 9/3 and 9/4. These 2 nights show at $164 on Hotwire. Advice?? Again, thanks!
  11. Sorry--forgot to close the loop on this. I was not successful in bidding for JC Hyatt. Eventually got decent rate for the Roosevelt. Thanks for the help.
  12. Looking for bidding advice on JC Hyatt for 8/30-9/3. I noticed $94 on Hotwire for 3.5 stars during this period. What is a reasonable amount to bid on Priceline? Thanks!! This site is great!
  13. I tried $40 for all four nights, but no luck. I'd be willing to split for first 2 nights at Hyatt and last 2 at the hotel I've already booked, but would, of course, prefer not moving.
  14. I've booked a backup room at a 3-star in Midtown for $109 which has gotten mixed reviews. I'd like to try one more Priceline bid for much better reviewed Hyatt Jersey City. I just checked Hotwire for my nights (12/26-12/30) and noticed that rate for 3.5* hotel is now down to $105 from $177 I saw last week. Amenities include Restaurant(s), pool(s), Business Center. Is this the Hyatt? My last bid of $75 last week was rejected on PL--any advice for this time?
  15. No luck. I tried split bidding and raising my bid substantially to $75, but no success. I booked a backup hotel in case I continue to be unsuccessful.
  16. OK, my three-day waiting period is over and I shuld be able to re-bid. Any thoughts on an amount to bid?? Thanks!
  17. Thanks for explaining the split bid concept. I tried splitting, but no luck at $40/night. When I try re-bidding in 3 days, how high would you recommend I go? I'm willing to go up to $100, but would, of course, prefer the lowest I can get.
  18. thereuare: Thanks for the reply. I have yet to bid on Priceline. But when I proceed, I would be willing to re-bid at a higher amount. Also, I'm unclear about the concept of splitting my bid, despite going to the messages you linked.
  19. I just registered for your great message board after browsing for several weeks. I'm planning a trip to NYC with 12/26 arrival through 12/30. To cut costs, I'd like to stay in Jersey City at the Hyatt, which has received positive reviews. I've never bid on Priceline before. My question is how I can guarantee this hotel? Is this the only 3* in Jersey City? I've noticed bids of previously successful $37 now being rejected. How high shall I bid? Anything under $100 is ok with me, but of course would like to get the best deal possible. Thanks for any tips!
