  1. First bid of $50/room/night was accepted. Rack rate on their website is $84 so not too bad. The HOTWIRE link at the time for a 3* was close to $60. Total for the 2 rooms with taxes and fees is $122.86 Thanks for the PRICELINE link!
  2. Sorry about that...dates of stay are 08/04 til 08/05/10. Thanks, I am aware of the priceline room thing. I also have seen in Priceline's reviews of the hotel that they told people that they have to pay a $30 upgrade fee to upgrade to 2 queens. I am going to wait and see what happens, last time they did it gratis so we will see. I am going to send them and email. If not, the children are still pretty young (4,6,7). 1 with my wife and I and 2 with nana.
  3. Tried 3* AC area yesterday for $55, denied. Added Somers Point and increased to $60, denied. After 24 hrs, tried for 4* for $70 and was denied. Added Somers Point, changed to 3.5* and lowered offer to $65. Acccepted by the Chelsea with offer to extend the stay which I very well may do, we will have to see about my schedule. I might have been able to get it cheaper, but I have some business to do and this is definately cheaper than the rack rate. BTW, it is for 2 rooms with 3 adults and 3 children. I stayed at the Chelsea last year during the AC Airshow, thunder over the boardwalk or something, for $60/night and it's not a shabby hotel. The only problem was the Valet was very, very slow. I will plan that out better this time. Thanks for the links and the wonderful board!
  4. I looked at least 3 larger hotel websites directly and they are sold out. Oakland lists a 3 start for $174 which isn't too far away (too far to walk) and I am sure public trans with these events is going to be a mess. Maybe a suburb with a rental car would be cheaper. I am not too sure your going to get a "deal" on PRICELINE or HOTWIRE on these days. I did try 2 different Hotwire selections, 1 for each day. There is a 4 star downtown on Saturday night for $149and a 4 star downtown on Sunday night for $334. Good luck.
  5. Have a meeting downtown at Duquesne on October 26-27. After multiple bids for higher amounts for 3.5*+, I decided to go for $60 and try a 3*. Look what happened....I won! With the taxes it comes to $76.05. I am figuring another $20+ for parking. We will see.
