Thanks, I did use your PRICELINE link at least I hope correctly, this is a great site. Will continue to use Priceline for Toronto, I don't plan on staying overnight in Hamilton since it is only a 45 minute drive away and this was for a wedding out of town. This was a safe experiment.

Hi, 2nd time using PRICELINE, not super happy this time. Others should review this as a "heads up" if you are tying to work the system using the star rating. I suspect in any other city, such as booking in Toronto in the past I wouldn't mind an upgrade since the booking areas are defined, and I am usually always booking the highest star rating, so it normally isn't an issue. Bid on 2 1/2 star in Hamilton, ON $65 rejected. Bid on 2 1/2 star in Hamilton, ON $73 accepted, but they upgraded me to a 3 star hotel. I don't want a 3 star hotel. The only 2 1/2 star hotel is Stay Bridge Suites, which is downtown, new and has great reviews, 5 minutes from where I need to be. The 3 star hotel which is also new, great reviews is 20 minutes away. Whatever I would have saved, just gotten eaten up in cab fares. I called to complain, but they wouldn't even cancel the reservation, as it is in the fine print, when naming your own price. Even though I selected a 2 1/2 star rating, Priceline runs the offer by higher star hotels, so a 3 star hotel took my offer. So live and learn I guess. If anyone knows a way out of this one I would love to hear it, but it sounds like I am stuck. Thanks,

Hi, Thanks, I had read the re-bidding explained, and while I understood it didn't feel comfortable attempting it. Regardless I just had my bid accepted, my priceline cherry popped. Should I post in the Canada - Priceline win forum it is below as well. I started at $55, $60, $65, won at $71. About 1/2 price, reg room is listed at $159. 4 star / Toronto Downtown / Toronto Renaissance Downtown / Sept 19 / won at $71 Not my top pick, while it might be cool to stay at the Rogers Centre/Skydome, it is a bit of a hike (10 blocks, oh no!) to the shopping downtown at the Eaton Centre or restaurants in the Entertainment District. Although I am right beside the CN tower, so may check that out, haven't been up in years. Toronto is always a nice night out. Thanks, great forum.

Thanks, I will check that tread about counter offer, I did a search for "try again right now" and didn't come up with anything, counter offer makes sense. Toronto/Dowtown/4 star/Sept 19 2009 I am having both my wife and i bid, each of us increasing by $5 increments, not sure if that is a good idea. I initially went $55 , then $60, then $65 based on info in the Priceline and Hotwire Calendar of Wins which is awesome by the way. Thanks,

Hi, Going through a bid process on priceline.com and twice now after waiting 24 hours I have gotten this option. Initial bid was $60, then I went to $65 after 24 hour wait. I find it odd that in both case $60 and $65 they suggested a $17 increase. I'm not going for it, I will just try again in 24 hours. Any thoughts on this? I'm new to the board and always wanted to use Priceline, so this tool has driven me to make this my first time. I am assuming the prices users quote as their winning bid, are their bid price and not the after taxes and service fees price as that would vary be region. Thanks!
