  1. 160 felt like as high as I should go bidding on a hotel that might only allow double occupancy ... or might charge a whole lot more for quad. There seemed to be too many 4* hotel possibilities to take the risk of bidding in that category. So we got two room at the south seas and used the quikbook prices as reference to get lowest possible price from hotel directly. Thanks for you help! Ill definately try bidding in the future. Actually might be looking for NYC rooms sometime this spring.
  2. Ran bids for resort class in South Beach: 70, 80, 90, 100, 110, 120, 130, 140, 150, 160 all failed :). On hotwire it appeared that the 4.5*, probably loews -- beachfront restaurant pool fitness, was at a rate of ~$360. So I guess my bids were just too low. There is a 4* on hotwire near beach, boutique, with restaurant listed on hotwire for 149 but im not sure which hotel that would be. Thanks for you help.
  3. Im looking for a hotel in South Beach from the 20th to 23rd January 2005. I really like the location where I normally stay, the South Seas Hotel. The price will be $259 for quad occupancy. Im not exactly sure what I should consider bidding and what the chances of getting 4 people in a room for any hotel I might win, but I thought I would post and ask for your advice for bidding in South Beach at this time. Thanks, Thomas
  4. I read the priceline bidding post and understand what I'm supposted to do. How would I alter the strategy if I wanted to also try the 3-3* possibilities? Thanks ...
  5. Ok so I looked at Hotwire and the cheapest hotel rates for 4 in a room were: 3.5* in downtown west @ $135 3* in downtown east @170 4* in downtown waterfront @109 I'm tempted to try bidding on priceline anyway since the lowest downtown price is $109 on hotwire. Anyone have a guess what the $109 hotel might be (Customer Favorite -- restaurant, pool, fitness center, highspeed internet, business center)?
  6. I am planning on bidding for 2 or 3 rooms in downtown Philadelphia the night of 11/20 and I am looking for a bidding strategy. I am not extremely concerned about the * level of the rooms but would probably pay a little more for little nicer place (also am going to be walking to start of marathon which is at Eakins Circle and Benjamin Franklin Parkway if that). I also would like to be able to have up to 4 people in each room and I am not certain what the chance is that I would get a hotel that only has double occupancy rooms? Thanks Thomas
