  2. I think you're correct. I just read some reviews (mostly negative lately) and I saw a couple mentions of free parking. Don't think I'll go for it. Thanks for your help.

  4. I got the Marriott San Francisco Marquis (SOMA) for $117/night. I followed your strategy starting at $90 and rebidding with non 4-stars up to $110. On my last rebid, I went up by $7 and added in another non 4-star area and got it. I am happy with the results and looking forward to the trip I used the PRICELINE link from betterbidding. Thanks for your help.
  5. The areas I would prefer are (1) USE (2) Financial Dist/Emb (3) USW and (4) SOMA. I think I really want to stick with 4 star so I guess not FW. I have awhile so maybe a strategy where I could try to stay under 125 initially and maybe increase as it gets really close. Should I book a back up with the ability to cancel or am I far enough out to not worry with that yet?
  6. Oops. I just realized I misread your question. On the 6/2-6/5 bid later yesterday afternoon, I did the same thing I had done earlier I think.
  7. I actually added USW in last and raised my bid from $115 to $120 at that time. I started at $85 or $90 for USE and rebid at $5 increments adding in all non-4 star areas and Financial District. I left it for a couple of hours before coming back and adding in USW at $120.
  8. Thanks. I am very happy with the property. I thought I did go through Better Bidding's link to PRICELINE. I had so many windows open at one point that I guess I got mixed up. Sorry :( I'll definitely use the link for bidding on my other 3 nights.
  9. I'm in the process of planning a mom/son trip with my 11-year old. Earlier today, I had a successful priceline bid ($120) for Mark Hopkins Intercontinental for the first 3 nights of a 6 night stay. I was offered the option to extend the stay, but at a price of $168/nt, so I declined. I'm looking for advice on which areas would be good to bid on to finish our stay. It looks like I may have to increase my bid a little, but I still don't want to go much higher than 125/nt. I know we will be going to a Giants game either Sunday afternoon or Monday so maybe hotels closer to AT&T park for convenience or maybe even Fisherman's Wharf for the touristy activities there? I'm open to other ideas as well. Thanks for your help.
  10. Ok, so I actually kept playing around and added Union Square West-Nob Hill and went up to $120. At the time, I was only looking at the dates of 5/20-6/2. I got the Mark Hopkins Intercontinental for $120. I was given the option to extend my stay at the same price, but when I chose that option, it was offered to me at a rate of $168 for the remaining 3 nights. I declined, so now I need to find another room for our last three nights. Any ideas on which areas might offer a nice change of pace and other activities?
  11. I'm very excited about an upcoming mom/son trip for me and my 11 year old son. We would like to get a 4* for 125 a night or under. I have tried a couple of times starting around $80-90 and rebidding adding non 4* areas with no luck up to $115. I would consider dividing my stay up and doing a 3.5* for part of the time at Fisherman's Wharf since I think he would enjoy that. Is this a realistic bid for that time of year? Thanks in advance for your advice.
  12. Started bidding at $50 for Buckhead area. Rebid several times 4(4 or 5) adding zones without 4 stars, initially by $2 and by $4 on the bid that was accepted. I am pleased with the hotel and the price. May add one more night. Thanks for providing info and Priceline and Hotwire Calendar of Wins. Room Cost (avg. per room, per night): $64.00 (USD) Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Guests Per Room: 2 Number of Nights: 1 Room Subtotal: $64.00 (USD) Taxes and Fees: $17.40 (USD) Total Room Cost: $81.40 (USD
  13. Started at $79 for 4* Chicago Loop and went up to $85 adding in NMA, then in $5 increments with free rebids up to $105. No luck. I posted in the hotwire forum as well trying to find out about a 4* for $119. It is a mom/son trip for museums, cubs, etc and I would prefer a 4* for around $100/night. Any advice? Thanks in advance for any help. This forum is a great idea!
  14. 4 star Chicago Loop hotel - $119 Boutique, Fitness Center, Restaurants, Business Center, High Speed Internet Access I'll be traveling with my 10 year old son for our family's tradition of a mom and son "10 trip". My now 13 yr old and I went to London, but this one is so interested in the museums, aquarium, Navy Pier. I am thinking NMA or Chicago Loop is where I want to be. I like nice hotels so would like to stick with 4-4.5*. Thanks in advance for any help/advice.
