  1. We're heading down from LA for the Del Mar races (plus the free Weezer concert and beer festival!). I first tried the Del Mar zone, bidding 45, 50, 55, $60 with my first account (3 rebid zones at 3*), and then 65, 70, 75 and $80 with my second account. All rejected. Then I added Sorrento Mesa and started again at 45, 50, 55, 60, finally accepted at $65. Great location and great price...especially when you think the free wifi, breakfast, and parking could easily run you $75 extra/night at a regular Hilton, Hyatt, or Marriott.
  2. I saw the recent win at $58, so I thought I would try starting at $50. This was rejected with a counteroffer of $60. I rejected that and rebid $52, which was rejected. Then I rebid $54, which was accepted. I used the PRICELINE link in this forum. There is an $18/day charge for self-parking, but that is about average for the area it seems.
  3. Awesome deal for 2 rooms for the holiday weekend! For reference, Hotwire had the Venetian for $249 for Sat night and $99 for Sun night, or $182/night if you bought both at the same time. I started bidding at $100, in $10 increments up to $150. All were rejected. I knew I was getting close though because Priceline kept trying to tempt me with their "special" rebid offers for $167, and there was also a previous win reported here already for $155 for similar dates. My next bid was accepted at $152. Room Cost (avg. per room, per night): $152.00 (USD) Number of Rooms: 2 Number of Nights: 2 Room Subtotal: $608.00 (USD) Taxes and Fees: $92.00 (USD) Total Room Cost: $700.00 (USD)
  4. Very pleased with this price! Your Offer Price: $14.00 (per day) Total Rental Days: 6 days Subtotal: $84.00 Taxes and Fees: $33.90 Total Charges: $117.90 FWIW I had a bid with slightly different dates (4/29/10 - 5/3/10) rejected at $12.
  5. First bid was accepted which means I should have gone lower! Oh well...still a good deal, and a new hotel to add to the Better Bidding list. :)
  6. My wife and I are heading down from LA to San Diego to enjoy a little vacation for President's Day weekend. Priceline in SD is so much fun because it's a rebid bonanza! =) I saw the recent win at $75 so I figured I'd explore a little lower. As it turned out, $75 actually was the sweet spot. What a great deal! I used the PRICELINE link as always. $60 San Diego (Coastal) - Rejected $65 + Sorrento Mesa - Rejected $70 + San Ysidro - Rejected $73 + Rancho Bernardo - Rejected $75 + Point Loma - Accepted
  7. Hey again everyone. I was out of town on vacation for a week, so didn't have a chance to bid again until today. Thankfully, I was able to repeat TamCaP's friend's success at $160 for a 3* in Millennium Park-Loop-Grant Park. Day 7 (8/17/09) Bid $140 - rejected (PRICELINE offered to try an instant rebid of +$22, which I refused) Rebid $150 - rejected Rebid $160 - accepted Central Loop Hotel Millennium Park, Loop & Grant Park Area 111 West Adams Street Chicago, Illinois 60603 312-601-3525
  8. Now bidding at 3* as per one and only's advice (Millennium Park-Loop-Grant Park). Day 6 (8/6/09) Bid $120 - rejected Rebid $125 - rejected Rebid $130 - rejected (Only 2 rebid zones at 3*)
  9. OK...now bidding at 3.5* (Millennium Park-Loop-Grant Park). Day 5 (8/5/09) Bid $100 - rejected Rebid $110 - rejected Rebid $120 - rejected Rebid $130 - rejected (Only 3 rebid zones at 3.5*)
  10. Day 4 (8/4/09) Bid $125 - rejected Rebid $130 - rejected Rebid $135 - rejected Rebid $140 - rejected Rebid $145 - rejected Wow! I guess maybe they're all full. Could you update the title from "still bidding" to something like "failed" and the subtitle to ">$145"? I will try a different bidding strategy tomorrow with a lower star rating and will start a new thread. Thanks everyone!
  11. Hey thanks drbeanz! Tomorrow I will get up into the $130 range, so hopefully I will get a bid accepted then. Thanks for sharing your experiences from the past few years...I've used PRICELINE for conferences before, but never for a meeting THIS big!
  12. Bid - "Millennium Park-Loop-Grant Park" Rebid 1 - Added "Lincoln Park" Rebid 2 - Added "Midway Airport Area (MDW)" Rebid 3 - Added "O'Hare Airport South" Rebid 4 - Added "Skokie - Niles - Evanston"
  13. Day 3 (8/3/09) Bid $100 - rejected Rebid $105 - rejected Rebid $110 - rejected Rebid $115 - rejected Rebid $120 - rejected (Hmm...I thought you could only rebid 3x, but I guess that isn't true. Cool!)
  14. Hi everyone. I'm going to Chicago for a very large neuroscience conference in October. I'm guessing that may be why the bidding is so high. Any suggestions? I might try adding the Greater Chicago zone tomorrow for Hyatt McCormick Place, even though there isn't much to do around there. From looking at the Priceline and Hotwire Calendar of Wins it seems I may have to go all the way up to $130! Here's the LINK to use to bid for yourself. Day 1 (8/1/09) Bid $60 - rejected Rebid $65 - rejected Rebid $70 - rejected Rebid $75 - rejected Day 2 (8/2/09) Bid $80 - rejected Rebid $86 - rejected Rebid $90 - rejected Rebid $95 - rejected Day 3 (Tomorrow...)
  15. First attempt. I saw the success at $45, so I thought I'd try a bit lower. Here's the LINK so this board gets some support for this great service! Hyatt Regency Tampa 211 North Tampa Street Tampa, FL 33602 813-225-1234 Room Subtotal: $41.00 (USD) Taxes and Fees: $12.43 (USD) Total Room Cost: $53.43 (USD)
